Chapter 257: Can’t She Take a Hint?
The girls who’d commented earlier thought that Si Mobai wasn’t as scary as the stories made him seem. It wasn’t so hard to bully him, after all. They even started imagining themselves married to him. Little did they know, disaster was about to occur.
While Feng Tianlan and her gang were students of the Blue Flame Academy in name, they didn’t need any teachers to guide them. Luo Yuanjie arranged for them to stay in a quiet courtyard and didn’t allow anyone to interrupt Feng Tianlan while she was teaching Luo Yunzhu and Chuling.
They only left the courtyard in the evening to head home. They had barely left the school when they heard a lot of murmuring.
“Did you hear that? Something bad has happened to the Wangs. Some are in jail, some have been executed, and others exiled.”
“Not just the Wangs. The Qians, the Wus, and a dozen other clans have gone through the same thing. Some of them weren’t found guilty of anything, but they were still forced to move out of South Peace City.”
“It seems quite scary, but since there’s solid evidence of their wrongdoing, they deserve punishment.”
“Haven’t you noticed the pattern here? Someone from all of these families attends Blue Flame Academy. All of them quit the academy an hour ago because of something that cropped up at home.”
“I noticed that too. The elder had just released the list of students to be expelled. Immediately after, these same students heard about what was happening at home, left, and never came back.”
“So, they’ve all been expelled and are no longer students of Blue Flame Academy, and their clans have all gotten into trouble? They’re even being forced to move their ancestral halls out of South Peace City. It’s so weird.”
“Don’t you realize that these are all the people who accused Feng Tianlan of seducing the Wargod?”
“So, is this the Wargod or Feng Tianlan’s doing?”
“I think it’s the Wargod. He probably doesn’t want rumors about Feng Tianlan liking him to go around because it’s insulting to him. So, he’s chosen to kill some of them off as a warning.”
“But nothing’s happened to Tu Xiupei. Maybe he’s standing up for Tu Xiupei and sending a warning to Feng Tianlan? After all, the rumors now say that Wargod is interested in Tu Xiupei.”
“Hmm. Perhaps Wargod really does like Tu Xiupei. But his way of showing it is a little, uh, special.”
The students didn’t stop gossiping when Feng Tianlan and her gang walked by. At first, they were just speculating, but their last few comments were aimed at Feng Tianlan. Since they had seen what had happened to the students who’d made the comments earlier, they didn’t dare speak too loudly, afraid that they would be next.
“Tianlan, what do you think of all this?” Luo Yunzhu didn’t know how to respond, but she really wanted Tianlan to get together with Si Mobai, so she felt that she had to interfere.
Feng Tianlan distanced herself from everything as if she weren’t involved at all. She replied calmly, “It has nothing to do with us.”
“But they’re talking about you.” She was the primary figure in this matter, so how could she say that it was none of her business?
“If these were people I cared about, then I would be deeply hurt. But these are people I don’t even know. No matter what they say, their words can’t hurt me a single bit. Why bother picking a fight and making myself miserable?”
After hearing Feng Tianlan speak so calmly and sensibly, Luo Yunzhu looked at the matter differently. “You make sense.”
“But they’re saying that Wargod likes Tu Xiupei!” Luo Yunzhu was more concerned with this bit in particular. She felt that the Wargod should like Tianlan since they were so compatible.
“So what?”
Luo Yunzhu was even more worried when she saw that Feng Tianlan couldn’t be bothered. “Wargod is obviously more compatible with you.” Couldn’t this girl take a hint?
Feng Tianlan tried not to laugh when she saw Luo Yunzhu looking so worried. “Being together with someone doesn’t depend on compatibility. It’s about whether the two parties are willing. The Wargod didn’t say anything, so don’t try to push us together anymore. Otherwise, you’re no better than the other rumormongers. None of this is real.”
