Chapter 439: The Wound Heals Itself
Satisfied that his master had been appeased, Pang Tai nodded to himself. He turned to Qi Hongan and said, “You have not set a good example as the headmaster of the Flying Frost Pavilion but two of your disciples have been punished in your place today. Therefore, I will not punish you further. However, if you misuse your authority to settle your grudges in the future, I will give the position of Headmaster to someone more worthy.”
If his disciple failed to live up to the title of Headmaster, he would pass it to his master.
“Yes.” Qi Hongan lifted his head and glared at Feng Tianlan with hatred burning in his eyes.
“Alright. Master is injured and needs to rest. Find some other way to occupy yourself.” Pang Tai waved his hand and dismissed the crowd. He didn’t want anything else to happen with Feng Tianlan still wounded.
As Gu Nansheng was about to leave, she glanced at Feng Tianlan and hissed, “Liar!”
She had been willing to lend the pitiful Feng Tianlan a hand in the fight for her right to be the headmaster’s disciple. It seemed, however, that her compassion had misplaced. Feng Tianlan didn’t need help at all. After all, she was secretly the grandmaster’s master behind everyone’s back. She had even arrogantly declared that the headmaster was not worthy of being her master and it turns out, that was because Feng Tianlan was already her master’s grandmaster!
This turn of events made Gu Nansheng very angry. She had never been so angry before. She had helped Feng Tianlan out of the kindness of her heart but all she received in return was a slap in the face for her efforts.
She decided to never interfere in Feng Tianlan’s affairs again.
Feng Tianlan was confused by Gu Nansheng’s hostility. When did she lie to her? How could she have known that Pang Tai was the headmaster’s master in the first place? Furthermore, he only just became her disciple a few moments ago!
“Master, I will take my leave now. I will return to seek your guidance as soon as you have recovered.” After these words, he disappeared from the stage in a flash.
With Pang Tai gone, the silence that filled the Martial Training Square was filled by a rowdy clamor.
“What just happened? How did Feng Tianlan become the grandmaster’s master?”
“No idea! I’ve been in the Flying Frost Pavilion for more than ten years. This is the first time I’ve seen the grandmaster. Why did he appear now of all times?”
“So, Feng Tianlan is our great-grandmaster right now?”
“…”
After a while, the crowd’s excitement faded, and silence descended on the Martial Training Square.
“Feng Tianlan, you used a clever trick up your sleeve to trick my master into becoming your disciple today. I’m not going to let things slide just like this,” Qi Hongan warned as he glanced at Luo Yunzhu and the whip in her hand.
Feng Tianlan raised her head and nodded approvingly at Qi Hongan. “My good grandchild, I look forward to seeing what you will do.”
“You—” Qi Hongan ground his teeth in anger. He had been her superior as Headmaster just moments ago! But now, for no good reason at all, he was two positions beneath her and unable to rebuke her.
Whatever medication his master was taking, it was turning him into a lunatic!
Feng Tianlan let out an uninterested “huh” and turned to Tu Xiupei and Qi Shujie. “You two great-grandchildren take heart, there will be ample time to get ahead!” With these last words, she took Luo Yunzhu with her and left the Martial Training Square.
“Tianlan, are you alright?” Luo Yunzhu helped Feng Tianlan into the nearest chair.
Chuling brought over powder to help stop the bleeding. “Miss, let me bandage your wounds.”
“I am really sorry. If it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t have gotten so badly injured.” Luo Yunzhu removed the handkerchief that she had used to temporarily bandage Feng Tianlan’s shoulder wound. She felt really guilty about what happened. Her temper was too uncontrollable. Whenever she saw those two begin any hint of a taunt against Feng Tianlan, her anger would flare up, and she found herself unable to rein it in.
“You were only helping out. There’s nothing for you to be sorry.”
Luo Yunzhu nodded, but her expression remained glum and regretful. Feng Tianlan didn’t say anything more. She played back the chaos in the Martial Training Square and felt uneasy, as though something was not quite right.
Just as she was about to pinpoint what was bothering her about the incident, she got distracted by Luo Yunzhu’s voice. “Tianlan, your hand…”
Feng Tianlan glanced at her palm and saw the puncture wound there had begun patching itself up. Although it was still mangled and badly mutilated, for it to recover so much in such a short time was very surprising.
