Chapter 1764: Sapphiron
Of course, he wouldn’t slack off like the hare in the race against the tortoise. After all, he had other things to deal with as well, such as Strongholds and competitions. If he wasn’t in the Instance Dungeon team, then it usually wouldn’t operate.
Most other clubs still could keep it going, since their commanders only had the role of commanding.
While Sapphiron was alive, it was a loyal servant of Malygos the Blue Aspect.
During the battle of the Frozen Throne, Arthas met with a pitiful-looking Blue Dragon in Northrend. Sapphiron was only a normal adult Dragon when it was fighting for Malygos. However, upon being ambushed by Arthas and Anub’arak, Sapphiron was ultimately killed after being defeated. Then Arthas, using the power of the fallen, revived Sapphiron into a Frostwyrm. Sapphiron the Frostwyrm became a fang for the Scourge.
Sapphiron then became Kel’Thuzad’s mount, stationed in the depths of Naxxramas.
“There are only two more Bosses left. These are the last two of the 60s.”
Azure Sea Breeze’s tone was first filled with excitement, then slowly turned sad.
In this moment, he suddenly had the aura of a smart, young lad.
“Let’s go!”
Unfortunately, his aura was ruined the moment Lu Li kicked him from behind.
Sapphiron didn’t have anything to say. After all, it was a pile of bones. The only thing it could express was its desire to kill all the living in front of it, no matter Dark Elf or Tauren.
It was a pile of bones, so there was no shape of a Frostwyrm yet. All the bones were laid across the large hall, and they began reassembling themselves.
Azure Sea Breeze rushed forward and immediately died.
Everyone else was in the safe zone. After seeing the tragedy that unfolded before their eyes, they just froze.
After Sapphiron exited its battle mode and turned into a pile of bones again, Lu Li then instructed someone to revive Azure Sea Breeze, and then interviewed him.
Azure Sea Breeze angrily stared at Lu Li. Why was it always him who tested out the Boss? What was even worse was that Lu Li didn’t even arrange for a Healer to heal him.
He had no chance of survival at all.
Lu Li had no plans of him returning alive.
“Believe me that I can make things worse for you,” Lu Li sighed and looked at him pitifully.
“Whatever,” Azure Sea Breeze muttered, already on the verge of tears. “Its normal attack damage is extremely high and it also has a Freeze effect to it. It decreased my movement speed, and increased damage dealt. I couldn’t even deal with three hits. I feel like it would be better if a Thief went and tested the Boss out instead.”
“You are right. Since that’s the case, then we’ll just start for real this time,” Lu Li responded.
“Man, screw you,” Azure Sea Breeze cursed. He could only brace himself and rush forward again.
Besides the normal attack, there was also the aura damage of 600 every 2 seconds which lasted until the end of the battle. An Ice Resistance stat of 300+ would be able to decrease the damage to 200.
As a dragon, a frontal attack of 120 degrees and a tail smash was expected.
One of its ultimate skills was Blizzard, which it would cast in two waves onto the ground. After being hit with the Blizzard, there was the effect of decreased movement speed. Two seconds later, it would deal 3700-4000 damage to players. Blizzard was the same type as Ouro’s skill, where they needed to predict the Boss’ movements to be able to avoid it.
There was also a curse every 30 seconds for seven random targets. The players hit with the curse would be dealt 2000 damage every two seconds, and it would heal the Boss for 4000 HP.
In the first 35 seconds of the battle, the Dragon would soar in the air and spit out 5 Frostbolts after 10 seconds at random targets. Players hit by the Frostbolt would receive around 3000 Ice damage and be Frozen. Moreover, they were unable to be healed.
It was different to how Lu Li imagined it to be. They had already lost a lot of players in this phase.
He remembered that the frozen players wouldn’t receive the aura damage anymore. However, in the present reality, the aura damage still remained.
There was also the 3000 damage from being in the range of 10 metres from the frozen players. This was unable to be resisted. In the end, the Dragon would spit out a large ice ball, dealing 60,000 damage to the whole area. After this, the Dragon would land on the ground.
No one could tank 60,000 damage. Fortunately, all the frozen players were grouped together, so they could just hide behind them to avoid the damage.
The interval between the Dragon landing and flying again was 70 seconds.
This Boss didn’t have phases to it. The whole fight consisted of the Boss cycling through its skills. The order of the skills would be figured out quite quickly. The issue was how to solve this problem.
There were quite a bit of Ice Resistance items from before. Even Lu Li managed to string together four or five pieces, some of which were Dark Gold and Epic. Now, they definitely needed it. It was necessary for them to lose out on DPS for them to have a chance at surviving in Sapphiron’s frozen world.
Shamans and Paladins could increase the team’s resistance, so Lu Li arranged for two Shamans and a
few Paladins to join them.
As for what potions to use, this was straightforward. At the moment, they just needed to get the equipment and potions right. They were spending hundreds of thousands of dollars each day on
So shameless!
The Boss’ curse was difficult to deal with. They needed to make sure that they had enough players to dispel the curses. Fortunately, the alliance with the three clubs provided enough support for this.
They still needed to determine positioning. It wasn’t too difficult, since they just needed to figure out where to stand to survive and where to stand while battling.
They needed to reposition themselves a lot during the battle. After the Dragon soared into the air, they had to spread out and avoid the Frostbolts. However, they also had to keep close together so that they could shelter themselves behind the frozen players in time for the ice ball attack.
Making a beeline for the frozen players was a must. No matter where they were, they needed to immediately rush behind a frozen player.
Mages were the only exception.
Mages knew Ice Block and also could teleport. No matter where the frozen players were, the Mages would be able to teleport behind them and avoid the damage.
However, less mobile classes needed to realise the positions of the frozen players immediately. If they were too far away when the ice ball struck, then they would be destined for death.
Because there was also the issue of the Dragon soaring and landing on the ground, aggro also had to be considered. The team also wiped multiple times because of this. It took them a few days to figure out how to avoid being wiped because of aggro.
All in all, Sapphiron was a Boss that required the players to be prepared before the battle. 300 Ice Resistance was a minimum requirement. Healing was also important, so players had to make sure to avoid receiving unnecessary damage and prepare sufficient healing items for emergencies.
While they were nearing the end of Sapphiron, the results for the Shadow Cup Quarterfinals were also revealed.
