Chapter 1600: The Shameful Deserter

Blood Dagger really had a reason to be arrogant. Every celebrity competitor had their own pride.
These skills and equipment could in no way compare with competitors and definitely couldn’t make him stay, but he also couldn’t finish off so many people just like that. They couldn’t defeat him, but they couldn’t run. Blood Dagger couldn’t be in two places at once, so how could he block dozens of people at once?
He needed to extend the time a bit longer, until backup would come. Then, he would definitely pay these Thieves back.
However, although he thought so much about this, there was just one thing he missed. Not all of the Thieves here were unskilled. There was still one person hidden– the one person that he considered as the hardest-to-defeat opponent in his whole life.
One was in the light, while the other was in the darkness. From the beginning, it wasn’t a fair scenario.
Let alone the fact that he didn’t even know this person was here!
When the dagger was revealed from the shadows, it stunned Blood Dagger, who was also in Stealth. Only then did Blood Dagger suddenly feel that someone was nearby.
Lu Li had the Enhanced Stealth skill and was more proficient at Stealth than the average Thief. This was apart from the fact that in order to hide himself from Rexxar, he had purposely equipped himself with items that improved his Stealth.
Naturally, Blood Dagger was even less aware that he was here.
Since Lu Li was wearing a set of niche equipment, his attacks really weren’t that strong. If he was fighting one on one with Blood Dagger, even if he could finish him off, it would take ages.
And Glory Capital’s people wouldn’t take ages to come.
However, Lu Li was not by himself. This time, he had brought a few dozen brothers with him.
Lu Li, who had been born in the Common District, knew even less about what fairness meant, nor did he know anything fighting ethics.
Blood Dagger had lots of methods to get rid of Crowd Control, but he still didn’t have enough to resist over a dozen Thieves.
What Lu Li needed to do was to give out orders. These brothers didn’t really have names; they just used code names. They were easy to remember, so Lu Li barely had to use any words to stop Blood Dagger’s attempts to escape.
He rarely attacked, but he just needed to attack once to pull Blood Dagger right into a hopeless situation. The others were responsible for attacking. As the saying went, many ants can kill an elephant, let alone these deadly Thieves.
Who was it!?
He couldn’t see their face, and he couldn’t hear their voice. Blood Dagger could only judge from the shape of the opponent that they were a Dwarven Thief.
His mind raced as he thought about who could be attacking him.
Could it be Wood Fearing?
It couldn’t be – the Gods of Dusk had already gone through this situation. How could they dare to provoke Glory Capital? Over the last few years, the Gods of Dusk had been on a constant decline. It was all reliant on Wood Fearing trying to hold it all together. He would only do this sort of thing if he was crazy.
But apart from him, who else could it be?
It was not that there were no top-level Dwarf Thieves, but that there just weren’t any others at Blood Dagger’s and Wood Fearing’s level, so Blood Dagger arrogantly didn’t care about them.
An expert at Stealth!
An expert at making the most of every opportunity!
Who could it be, who could it be?!
In this tangled, confused craze, Blood Dagger was defeated, still racking his brains over who his opponent was.
“At most, there are only 3 minutes. Quickly sweep up the equipment and leave,” Lu Li said, picking up the things that Blood Dagger dropped.
During the whole time he attacked Blood Dagger, he didn’t really have to use much effort at all. He naturally didn’t have to worry about what Blood Dagger saw. He hoped that this guy wouldn’t be too persistent, otherwise a lot of Dwarf thieves would be out of luck.
Three minutes was neither a long or short time, but it was enough for Buggy and his team to clean up the battlefield and leave.
Glory Capital’s people rushed over and saw that apart from a disorganised field of mess, there was really not even a scrap left for them.
The loss?
The loss was simply too much for them. Even just thinking about it made White Westhill’s head hurt, and they couldn’t care about comforting Blood Dagger.
“What about my quest? That’s an Enhanced Skill Book,” Whinging Hollow asked in worry.
“What about me!”
White Westhill had remained relatively calm, but what could be done in these circumstances? The words ‘Enhanced Skill Book’ had gotten on his nerves again. Now, all he could do was just send people to search the body of the NPC Ed Harris.
They didn’t dare to roam around freely. They could only send Thieves to look stealthily.
After looking for hours they didn’t really find anything. They kept going until Stormwind City’s spies reported that Ed Harris had shown up again in the Professions Hall.
“You go have a look. Why didn’t the NPC die? Does the quest count as completed or not?” West Whitehill asked without much hope, then after a moment, he said, “Open up the livestream. The boss and I have to look at the situation over there.”
At this, City Smoke and Whinging Hollow once again wore their disguises and appeared in front of Lu Li.
Lu Li looked as if he was full of sorrow. Of course, this was fake – at this time, he was happily totalling up the total rewards.
“Over 100 pieces of Epic equipment, 200 pieces of Dark Gold equipment, some material and tools. There’s some rare stuff in there as well.”
Even Lu Li, who had seen so much, couldn’t really comprehend it. It was really like manna from heaven.
He just wanted to trap the Glory Capital players. He never thought there would be such a massive windfall.
There was no feeling of guilt. Lu Li had never been like some sort of humble gentleman.
“Mr Ed Harris, sir, we’re so happy you’re still alive,” Whinging Hollow said. Whinging Hollow had done a lot of quests, so he naturally knew how to build rapport with NPCs.
If at this moment, he grabbed the NPC by the collar and shouted at him, asking why everyone else had died but he was still alive, it would really be the end of it. It couldn’t be said if they could still keep progressing with the quest, not to mention that they still had to risk their own lives.
“Ah, praise the Holy Light, it turns out that you were fine as well,” Lu Li said with pretence.
Who knew that he was a Thief walking in the shadows? What sort of position was he in to praise the Holy Light?
“Can we ask, master, how you managed to escape from trouble? After all our forces were annihilated, what on earth happened?” Whinging Hollow caught onto what West Whitehill was drawing attention to, and asked what everyone else was questioning in their hearts.
“I’m really sorry; I shamefully became a deserter. After that half-beast finished its Berserk, I used a teleportation device to escape!” Lu Li said with an ashamed look on his face, on the verge of tears.
“Oh…” This answer cleared away their remaining doubts.
No one thought that the NPC was telling lies. After all, he was someone who was able to produce an Enhanced Skill Book as a reward.
NPCs also couldn’t respawn, so escaping in a crisis to try and protect themselves was something you couldn’t blame them for.
