Chapter 1601: Struck It Rich

“Sorry, we didn’t protect you well sir. We put your life in danger,” Whinging Hollow said, coughing up blood. He still needed to pour out his apologies to Ed Harris.
He had really complex feelings towards Ed Harris.
Ed Harris let him see the hope of a bountiful reward, but it had been stripped away by the club. As such, his heart was filled with resentment. Afterwards, the people of the club, in helping him with this quest, had all been annihilated. A whole heap of equipment had been lost. Of course, his heart was now filled with guilt and fear.
This mood, when expressed to Ed Harris, was one of complaint.
If he hadn’t been given this quest, perhaps the target place wouldn’t have been Longspear Valley, and perhaps the club wouldn’t have faced this loss. Then, he wouldn’t have to bear the burden of being known as the initiator of all this trouble and suffering.
“Can I ask, sir, did you find the potion you were looking for?” Whinging Hollow cautiously asked, according to West Whitehill’s priorities.
“With great regret,” Lu Li said, shaking his head with a face full of sadness, “That half-beast didn’t let anyone enter the depths of Longspear Valley. I didn’t gain any new information about that potion. Your quest has not been completed.”
Their last hope had been shattered. Whinging Hollow felt that his whole body had no strength.
The prompt of the quest failure followed and the System informed them that they had lost some Reputation. However, this was a loss for the guild, so to Whinging Hollow, this was completely insignificant. The guild’s Reputation in the Alliance was already in the negative numbers anyway, so no matter how many points were deducted, it still didn’t matter.
Nevertheless, this didn’t alleviate their mood at all.
“Since you suffered a massive loss in this process of completing this quest, I am very distraught myself. Let this piece of equipment be my compensation,” Lu Li said, with a grieved expression on his face. He then took out a piece of Epic equipment and handed it over to Whinging Hollow.
What a kind NPC!
Whinging Hollow was immediately struck with guilt. It was their own fault that they didn’t complete the quest. How could they blame the NPC? This really shouldn’t have been the case.
“Can we still do this quest later after we become stronger?”
After all, it involved an Enhanced Skill Book. White Westhill didn’t want to give up so easily, and everyone was thinking about revenge.
“Just forget about it. Do you know who that half-beast, half-person was?” Lu Li asked mysteriously.
Afterwards, he filled in for Whinging Hollow and City Smoke what the name Rexxar meant. Everyone from Whinging Hollow to City Smoke, as well as Sorrowless and White Westhill on the livestream were dumbstruck.
It turned out they had besieged the camp of their own legendary hero.
Was there anything more hopeless than this?
Did this mean that they would be put onto Rexxar’s blacklist in the future, or even become Rexxar’s enemy!?
Lu Li enjoyed their sadness as he looked at their long, sorrowful faces. He was really curious as to what tools his opponents had used to sneak their way into Stormwind City. Looking at Whinging Hollow’s face, it looked like a real human person. You couldn’t tell that he was originally a Tauren.
“Are you sure you wish to continue this quest?” Lu Li asked.
Whinging Hollow and City Smoke’s brains were whizzing around. They couldn’t muster the courage to compete with Rexxar. Even if they planned to do it just the same, with Lu Li’s explanation, they now knew of Rexxar’s legendary experiences. They knew that he and Saar had fought side by side together, as fellow combatants and good friends.
If they didn’t have to worry about him trying to get even, then that was already a good outcome. Who would still dare to actively provoke him?
“Why is it, when you clearly know that we were players from the Horde, that you would give us this quest?” Whinging Hollow asked. He knew this was something that Sorrowless had been thinking through.
Even if it was because of the Enhanced Skill Book, in Whinging Hollow’s heart, Sorrowless wasn’t such a strong, virtuous leader anymore. However, he still had unrivalled respect for him.
Lu Li hadn’t thought that the would ask this sort of question, but he reacted quickly.
He pretended to be melancholy and sighed, saying, “Child, what is the Horde, and what is the Alliance? These groups don’t represent honour. I know some beasts who ought to be respected like the greatest knights. I also know some people who are as evil as the cruellest, devastating natural disasters.”
“As a shallow and grief-stricken army, we keep getting weaker and weaker, even though we keep striving. This stupid behaviour only helps the Lich King! These great warriors are sacrificed for nothing, yet the true threat keeps coming closer. The Lich King is just calculating when we’ll die.”
He immediately sounded so classy and elegant!
Whinging Hollow was again conscience-stricken with himself for actually doubting this great Thief leader. He even suddenly had an urge to become an apprentice.
Lu LI evidently wouldn’t accept him. It was a pipe dream.
Seeing these two leave, Lu Li stayed in the Professions Hall to give out a few quests, looking like a real NPC. He gave tips to a few puzzled Thieves, perfectly expounding what it meant to be a Thief trainer.
He didn’t know if Glory Capital would send people to spy on him, so the main reason he was doing this was to avoid any possible disaster.
It wasn’t until the game was nearly over that he had time to really have a look at the rewards. The place to divide up the loot was arranged for at one of Buggy’s headquarters in Stormwind City. He entered through the back door of the fruit shop, which led to a little courtyard.
“Lu, bro!”
“Lu, bro!”
“Lu, bro!” When they saw Lu Li enter, all the few thieves stood up, including their chiefs Buggy and Blacky.
Buggy nodded at Lu Li, not saying anything.
They had known each other since they were young. When they first started, they were on equal footing, but a lot of things happened. Lu Li had just gotten out of jail, so he had been quietly mocked. Also, it wasn’t acknowledged on the outside, but in reality, he had begun to treat Lu Li with a subordinate identity.
“Lu bro, this time we struck it rich. We’ve calculated a detailed list. It’s all here; I promise no one cheated,” Blacky said, handing over the inventory list to Lu Li.
They were mostly illiterate, so the form was really quite clumsy. Fortunately it was simply understood; Lu Li was able to understand it with ease.
“Just let the brothers take the weapons,” Lu Li said, not being stingy at all.
He was never a stingy person. From when the game started he was always very generous, gifting this and that to everyone. Those who took his things, though, generally didn’t manage to escape his master plan. Now, they were all working their butts off for him.
“Buggy didn’t let everyone take it. This is all yours,” Blacky said with an eye on Buggy, then added with slight awkwardness, “I had my eye on a dagger.”
“Wait a sec, you can grab it yourself. We’ll need to deal with the things up here though,” Lu Li said.
“You can just take it and divide it with the club. I’ve never seen so much good stuff; our Elite group will be powerful enough to immediately bring back more,” Blacky responded happily.
This group of people had never entered into Ruling Sword, but because of Lu Li’s connection, they could always pose as one of them.
