After some reallocation, there were children waiting beside all four of them.
Rosalie breathed a sigh of relief, she turned around and continued to work.
The room inexplicably became quiet, except for the occasional ruckus that came from the children.
However, they tried their best to suppress the noises as if they were afraid of disturbing the rest.
The more Rosalie diagnosed and treated them, the heavier her emotions felt.
During the first round, they simply took the children’s pulses and made an assessment of their physical
condition. The remaining children who had some abnormalities would then undergo follow up checks.
It was the first time Rosalie was facing these abandoned children, and she felt great pity for them.
Some of the children had mild symptoms and could be treated with acupuncture or holistic medicine.
Some, however, had more severe symptoms and their hands were tied. The only thing they could do
was to send the children to the hospital. The children’s treatment expenses would be subsidized by the
Lancers.
Rosalie was relieved after diagnosing and treating several children in a row who had relatively mild
symptoms. However, she suddenly met a severely ill child.
The little one was only four or five years old, making him about the same age as Lucian and Nox.
There was nervousness on his childlike face.
Seeing his dark eyes, Rosalie was so distressed that she could not manage to say anything for a while.
“Miss, am I very sick?” the little child asked her timidly.
Rosalie felt her eyes and throat tightening, she was somewhat afraid of saying anything, she feared
that she would cry the moment she opened her mouth.
The little child comforted her instead. “It’s okay, Miss. I’m a child no one wants. No one will be sad even
if I’m very sick, so you don’t need to be sad for me. Your eyes are so red.”
The room was very quiet, and everyone had heard the little child’s words clearly.
Rosalie clenched her fingers weakly as she looked back to the other three for help.
She had lost a child before, so she really could not stand watching this scene.
Xander stopped what he was doing and walked up to the child. He then caressed the little boy’s head.
“Don’t be afraid. We’ll take you to the hospital. You’ll be fine.”
The little boy lifted his gaze but looked at Rosalie, wanting to hear her answer.
Rosalie took a deep breath, she suppressed her desire to cry and reluctantly smiled. “Baby, you’ll get
better. You’re also not a child that nobody wants. You’ll have a new mommy and daddy when you get
better. They’ll accompany you while you grow up big and healthy. So, be good and cooperate with the
treatment, okay?”
Hearing that he would have a new daddy and mommy, the child’s eyes lit up as he expectantly asked,
“Will I really get a daddy and mummy? I’m so sick…”
Rosalie’s heart trembled. From what the child said, he knew his own situation but still only cared if
anyone wanted him.
In that instant, Rosalie even wanted to take the little one away.
However, thinking that she would not be able to give the child a healthy family, Rosalie had no choice
but to give up on the idea.
“It’s going to get better. And you’re so cute. There’ll be a lot of people fighting for you.” Rosalie
caressed the child’s cheek soothingly.
The boy’s face flushed slightly with excitement as he nodded vigorously.
Xander had participated in many free clinics, but seeing such a scene, he would still inevitably feel sad.
After a few seconds of silence, he raised his voice and said to the staff outside, “Call someone in here
and bring the child to the hospital.”
Soon, someone came and extended their hand to the child with a kind smile.
The little one got up from the bed and burrowed himself into the staff member’s arms cooperatively. He
did not forget to turn around and wave to Rosalie, “Thank you, Miss. See you, miss.”
In the end, the child bowed his head and said goodbye to the other children in the orphanage.
