Chapter 737: Report to the Boss!
The two panicked. Only after a while did Ji Mianmian thought of something. She slapped Xiao Xu on the back. “Should we call the boss?”
“We have to,” Xiao Xu coughed, barely recovered from Ji Mianmian’s smack. “We have to call the boss!”
He immediately called Yue Tingfeng.
However, nobody answered the phone. Yue Tingfeng was in a meeting, his phone set on silent mode.
After half an hour, the meeting ended. He took out his phone to see many consecutive missed calls from Xiao Xu.
Yue Tingfeng knew that Xiao Xu was afraid of him. Unless something really bad had happened, he would not have called so many times. Yue Tingfeng quickly called him back.
“What’s wrong?”
Xiao Xu grew anxious. “B-boss, something bad happened,” he stammered. “Miss Qingsi, she… she… she went out with You Yi.”
Yue Tingfeng’s expression darkened. “Straighten your tongue and tell me what happened.”
“Well, You Yi stopped Miss Qingsi and gave a long speech, then Miss Qingsi took him away, and she didn’t let us follow. We’re worried that something will happen to her, that’s why we wanted to tell you immediately.”
The spike of fear Yue Tingfeng induced in Xiao Xu spurred him to tell everything in a single breath, with no pauses in between.
Yue Tingfeng stopped in his footsteps. “Do you remember what they talked about?
“Yes, yes… Ji Mianmian and I will tell you now.”
Xiao Xu and Ji Mianmian replayed the scene, with one acting as You Yi and the other as Yan Qingsi.
Yue Tingfeng released a breath after he heard everything. He roughly knew that You Yi had been checking up Yan Qingsi’s past lately. Of course, he found out that his mother-in-law had passed away.
You Yi would not hurt Qingsi, but… he will reopen Yan Qingsi’s old scars.
Yue Tingfeng hung up the phone. “Tell Qu Jing to handle the rest,” he told Jiang Lai. “I have an errand to run.”
“There’s a contract that needs to be signed later, Boss,” Jiang Lai replied with a pinched face.
“Qu Jing will represent me.”
Once the words left his mouth, he was gone.
Jiang Lai pursed his lips. Being stubborn was part of being a boss.
Qu Jing so happened to walk from behind, discussing the next season’s financial estimates with the head of the financial department. “Manager Qu,” Jiang Lai called out to him. “The boss wants you to represent him in the contract signage later. Also, you’re in charge of handling the rest of the day’s events.”
Qu Jing was dumbfounded. He checked the time. “I can’t. I’m not free. I’m busy in the afternoon.”
“I’ve done my part in relaying the message. You’re free to do as you please. But if the boss finds out that you didn’t take his words seriously and mess up the company’s affairs because of a date, then you will end up…” Jiang Lai chuckled menacingly.
Qu Jing did not have a retort for that.
…
As they drove further away from the city, the sight of tall buildings became lesser.
Along the way, Yan Qingsi saw a dandelion among a patch of green by the roadside. “Stop the car,” she cried.
You Yi stopped. Yan Qingsi leaped down and walked to the direction where the dandelion was. She plucked the dandelion, along with its roots.
You Yi could not comprehend Yan Qingsi’s actions.
Yan Qingsi wrapped the dandelion with a cloth and got onto the car. “Let’s go.”
You Yi did not move. He looked at Yan Qingsi’s hand instead.
Yan Qingsi gave him a side-glance. “I see that you don’t know that this was my mother’s favorite flower. Well, it doesn’t matter. This isn’t exactly a flower anyway.”
You Yi’s hand tightened around the steering wheel.
“Let’s go. I still have plenty to do. I don’t have that much time to waste with you.”
