She looked to be about eight or nine years old, with long, black hair that reached her shoulders, a pink
bow on her head, and serene, grape–like eyes.
She seemed unfazed by the surrounding comments. She remained calm and made no unnexessary
expressions on her face. She looked to be only eight or nine years old, but her gaze belonged to a girl
ten years older.
Adeena stared at her a bit longer, and the more she stared, the more she wanted to stay staring.
For some reason, this little girl seemed very familiar to her. But Adeena usually did not listen to piano
music, and nor did she attend piano concertos. So she would not have encountered this little girl, but
why did she seem so familiar?
“Young Lady Melody, please get in.” The bodyguards pulled open the car door and respectfully asked
the young lady to get in.
The girl nodded. As she bent down and was about to get into the car, she suddenly froze.
She felt an intense gaze. People often stared at her, and she was usually the focus of their attention.
She should have long since become accustomed to these kinds of stares... She slowly turned her
head. Her gaze swept over the crowd and landed on a woman not far away.
In that instant, Melody‘s eyes suddenly widened.
She swung her body around and hastened in toward the woman‘s direction. “Young Lady Melody!” The
bodyguards were shocked and promptly dashed after her, but they were blocked by the mob, who
wanted to get an autograph. Adeena watched all this as the little girl rushed toward her. She thought
she was in her way, so she quickly stepped aside to give way. However, the little girl latched onto her
wrist. Grief had emerged onto her cold face, and tears welled up in her once emotionless eyes.
“Mommy!”
The little girl was choking up with tears that were trickling down. Adeena immediately held her steady.
“Little girl, are you mistaken? I‘m not your mommy.” If her child was still alive, they would be three or
four years old. It was impossible for them to be eight or nine years old... Melody stared at her with teary
eyes. The face before her was without the shadow of a doubt, her mother‘s face.
As she got closer, she realized that this face and her mommy‘s was a little different from what she
remembered…
Did she mistake this stranger, who had a similar face to her mommy‘s, to be her because she missed
her mommy so much and thought she had returned... She raised her hand and wiped her tears away
with her sleeve. Her voice was still choked up.” What, what‘s your name?”
When Adeena saw her cry and felt her hot tears fall on the back of her hands, her heart clenched in
pain. She slowly said, “My name is Adeena. What about you, what‘s your name?
Adeena.
‘Her name is just like Mommy‘s. I can‘t possibly have mistaken her for someone else!‘ “I‘m Melody
Winters... No, I‘m Melody Daugherty!” After her mommy disappeared, she and her brother changed
their surnames. ‘Mommy still doesn‘t know that we changed our surnames...‘
‘I haven‘t seen Mommy in four years, and I‘ve gotten bigger, so I look different from before. Mommy
probably doesn‘t recognize me because of that.’ The little girl stared at her with wide eyes. The cold
look in her eyes faded away like a tide, and the depths of her eyes were filled with hope. Adeena
smiled. “Your name has a pleasant ring to it. Melody. What a great name.” “You, you don‘t remember
this name?” Melody‘s eyes grew wider. “It‘s me, Melody Daugherty, Mel! Mommy, I‘m your beloved
daughter. Why don‘t you remember me?! I finally found you, Mommy...”
