“Addy, it‘s just a dream. It‘s just a dream, it‘s alright...” Duke hugged her tightly and patted her back. His
voice was hoarse yet gentle. Adina hugged him back tightly as she slowly sagged to the ground. ‘After I
slapped Zhenny, Duke said that I‘m okay, and everything is fine. He said that everything will be
resolved.
‘After I kicked Sean, he told me that it was fine, too. He told me I did the right thing… ‘But honestly, are
things really okay?
‘Will they truly be okay forever? ‘Will one or two flukes make me feel that my mental state is still
normal?
‘I almost killed my own son...‘
‘How can this happen?
‘How did things get to this point?‘ “Addy, you‘re just too stressed. That‘s why you dreamed that dream.”
Duke rested his chin on her shoulder. “In a few days, we‘ll go out for a trip, a honeymoon. You can let
your hair down. You‘ll definitely feel better once you have a change of environment.”
Adina snuggled in his arms with a lingering feeling of bitterness.
‘If I can raise a knife on my children, I might also harm him...
‘I‘m no longer the Adina I know...
‘I can‘t live with the children and Duke comfortably...‘
“Duke.”
She pushed his chest.
Duke hugged her tighter as if he had expected what Adina wanted to say. “Addy, don‘t say anything.
Take a nap. You can nap in my arms.” “I‘ve slept all afternoon. Do you think I still can sleep?” She
smiled bitterly and said, “Let me go first.”
“Let‘s go downstairs and eat something, then. You love my cooking, right?” Duke coaxed her tenderly.
“Alright, I‘ll go downstairs to eat.”
Duke brought her slippers and put them on for her before leading her downstairs.
As soon as she got out of the room, she heard Harold‘s muffled cries from the next room. ‘Hal woke
from his sleep and saw his beloved mother raise a knife at him and almost killed him.
This will definitely become his lingering nightmare that lasts a lifetime.
‘And my explanation won‘t do any justice...‘ ‘How should I face him from now on?‘ “Duke. I can eat on
my own. Go and comfort Hal on my behalf. I don‘t wish to see him cry all night.‘
Duke put his arms around her and said softly, “George and Al are with him. He‘ll be fine.”
He was more worried about her mental state,
‘Adina must‘ve felt extremely guilty for almost hurting her own son. As a mother, the pain that she felt
must‘ve been beyond my imagination.’ “The only thing I can do is to stay by her side.‘ Adina did not say
anything as she lowered her head to eat. Duke cooked a couple of simple dishes; tomato soup, chicken
chop, and stuffed bell pepper. They were all his specialty dishes, and Adina usually enjoyed eating
them. Right after she took a mouthful of chicken chop, her stomach started to gurgle again. She
pushed the chair and rushed towards the washroom. Duke narrowed his eyes as he stood and
hurriedly followed after her.
“Colin said that you vomited in the morning, too. Are you having a stomachache?” Adina knelt in front
of the toilet bowl and retched a few times. Even so, she did not vomit anything out.
