When Duke looked at the empty ward in the hospital, he felt quite gloomy. He was severely injured, and
the woman who had just become his fiancee disappeared for the whole afternoon.

He held his phone with hesitance for a while, struggling repeatedly before finally making a call.

His call was answered after two beeps.

Both parties did not speak, but Duke could hear the children’s laughter from the other end of the line.

He, the father, was bedridden and unable to move, while the brats were laughing happily. Duke pursed
his gorgeous lips and nonchalantly said, “ I’m hungry.”

Adina was speechless.

food would be delivered in a minute. He was not asking her to cook and deliver food to him, was he?

She paused for a while and said, “I’ll make some food and deliver it to you after I bring the children
back to the Winters family villa later.”

After that, she seemed to recall something and added, “I remember the doctor mentioning that you can
only eat liquid food.”

There was nothing but a lot of liquid food sold in the hospital’s cafeteria.

Duke’s expression remained unchanged as he said, “My hand’s injured, so I can’t eat on my own.
Please come and help me.”



He just hung up once he was done speaking, as though he was afraid that Adina would reject his
request.

Adina looked helpless when she heard the dial tone on the phone. She finally knew who Harold
resembled in terms of character. He was like the unreasonable Duke.

That man was nearly thirty years old. Could he stop being so childish?

“Was that a call from Duke?” Mdm. Xavier narrowed her eyes in amusement and smiled. “Addy, you
should have brought Duke over for dinner today. The Xavier family hasn’t officially met him yet.”

Adina stroked her nose. “He’s still in the hospital.”

“Yes, Dad’s injured. He has to stay in the hospital for at least a week!” Harold spoke clearly.

“Addy, this isn’t right. Duke’s in the hospital. How can you come to the Xavier family’s mansion?” Mdm.
Xavier instantly became worked up. “Let the kids stay in my place. Hurry to the hospital and keep Duke
company. He’s injured. That poor thing is lying down in the hospital alone.”

“Dad’s not a poor thing!” Harold blinked as he said, ” There are two bodyguards and two caretakers in
the hospital. Maybe Papa Brown’s there too. There are so many people. Dad’s the least pitiful one!”

Mdm. Xavier held Harold’s hand and said, “Can bodyguards and caretakers compare to a fiancee? At a
time like this, your mommy has to go over and accompany him so that your dad will recover faster.”

Harold pouted unhappily. He just wanted his mommy to be with him. He did not want his dad to take all
her time.



“Dad’s an adult. He should learn how to be alone. Great grandma, let’s have dinner now,” Alden said
indifferently.

Mdm. Xavier was speechless.

Fine, she could not refute these two brats.

Adina sighed in relief as well. She really did not want to accompany Duke in the hospital on her own.

After all, it was getting dark. If she went over now, she would probably have to spend a night in the

George stood up and obediently said, “I’ll take my brothers and Mel to wash our hands.”

quickly.”

“No.” George waved. “We’re four years old. We can wash our hands on our own. We’ll be back soon.”
