Chapter 526: Momo, Will You Let Me Like You?
“Yeah.” Wei Zhiqian considered it for a while and nodded. “That’s true.”
Tan Mo quickly nodded in agreement.
If he was not her partner, she was determined to stay unmarried for the rest of her life.
She could never love anyone else besides him…
Let alone marry anyone else.
Since she was a little snow fairy until a moment before, she had no clue what it meant to have feelings for someone.
But now, she knew.
She understood the unbearable and painful feeling of watching the person she liked being with someone else.
“But… It’s just that… I feel like this isn’t enough,” Wei Zhiqian muttered.
“Isn’t enough?” Tan Mo looked at Wei Zhiqian with a face brimming with confidence. “What do you want me to do then? I’ll do anything.”
Wei Zhiqian pulled Tan Mo into his arms, holding her waist with one hand. His other hand was twirling the ends of her hair. “How about you try calling me Brother Zhiqian?”
Tan Mo hesitated.
‘What the hell?’
“U-Uncle…” Tan Mo was dumbstruck.
Why did she suddenly have to call “Brother Zhiqian” instead?
She had been calling Wei Zhiqian her uncle for the past 12 years.
How could she just change the way she called him just like that?
Of course, she could, but it would take getting used to.
When Tan Mo was still processing her thoughts, Wei Zhiqian suddenly kissed her on the lips.
Tan Mo was utterly stunned.
She was frozen in place as Wei Zhiqian moved his lips on her however he pleased.
She was inexperienced and did not know what to do at all.
She had no clue how to respond.
All she could do was let Wei Zhiqian ravage her mouth while she obediently followed his lead.
An indescribable numbness and weakness overcame her, and she felt her legs give out.
Caught in the moment, she clenched Wei Zhiqian’s shirt tightly with both hands, wrinkling his shirt to an unrecognizable state.
After a long while, Wei Zhiqian finally pulled his lips away ever so slightly.
All Tan Mo could feel was the throbbing of her swollen lips with a feverish tingling sensation on them. It was as if they had been sprinkled with a layer of flavorless yet intense pepper.
“You said that I wasn’t allowed to like other women and that I couldn’t marry anyone else for whatever reason. It just so happened that I wasn’t planning to. I never wanted to marry another woman, and you don’t intend to marry anyone else either.” Wei Zhiqian’s deep voice was smooth but hoarse with a hint of soothing tenderness.
“Then, will you marry me?” Wei Zhiqian’s fiery gaze burned deeply into Tan Mo’s eyes.
“Uncle?” Never in her dreams did Tan Mo ever think she would one day hear him say those words to her. “You…”
Having said those words, Wei Zhiqian was spinning in his head from the nervousness he felt.
He had mustered every ounce of courage in him and braced himself for the worse as he uttered those words.
He was truly afraid that he would end up scaring Tan Mo away and that she might even start avoiding him by keeping a distance from him.
He looked unbelievably calm on the surface, but deep down he was a complete and utter mess.
Wei Zhiqian’s heart was pummeling uncontrollably as he waited for Tan Mo’s response.
Seeing Tan Mo hesitate, Wei Zhiqian blurted out, “You… Don’t you like me? Don’t you want to marry me? Do you only think of me as your uncle?”
Tan Mo immediately shook her head.
That was not it at all.
Wei Zhiqian felt extremely dejected.
What did shaking her head mean?
Did she really not like him?
“Do you like me?” Tan Mo asked nervously.
He was definitely not the kind of man who would make her compensate in this way out of sheer loneliness just because she wouldn’t let him get married.
“Of course.” Wei Zhiqian spoke sincerely, “Now that you’re all grown up, my dear Momo. Will you let me like you, like the way a man likes a woman?”
Tan Mo’s heart was beating violently.
She… She wasn’t the only one with a secret crush.
He liked her too.
She could finally be open about how she felt toward him.
And she didn’t have to worry about him liking or marrying anyone else.
Was that what he was saying?
How could she be so perfectly lucky in this life?
In her previous life, she was so close to finally transforming, yet at the very last moment, she was plucked away by someone and failed.
Maybe it was because she was so unlucky and had such cruel fate in her past life that she somehow ended up with amazing luck in this life.
She was blessed with a wonderful family who showered her with unconditional love, and now the person she liked actually liked her back too.
Seeing as Tan Mo was too shocked to react, Wei Zhiqian started to worry that she might think he was a pedophile.
He quickly explained himself. “Momo, please don’t think of me as a sick pervert. When you were young, I swear I really thought of you as just a kid. After you had come of age, it suddenly struck me one day that you were all grown up. I don’t know when it started, but the way I cared for you slowly began to change.”
“When I saw other people chasing you, I would get mad. No matter who the guy was, I would feel like he wasn’t good enough and wouldn’t be able to take care of you. I only wanted to keep you in my arms forever.” Wei Zhiqian saw Tan Mo’s face had gone pale. “After you grew up, I don’t exactly know when, but then I started to see you as a woman.”
“So, you don’t have to worry. I’m not some psychotic pervert.” Wei Zhiqian was frightened that Tan Mo would mistake him for a weird pervert and want to get away from him.
“I never thought that way about you,” Tan Mo said immediately.
Her face was burning up. An endless stream seemed to flow within her eyes.
Wei Zhiqian could see that Tan Mo had a burning determination in her eyes, he bit his bottom lip ever so slightly.
Suddenly, she lifted her head and propped herself up with the strength of both her hands that were holding onto his shirt.
In one swift move, she kissed Wei Zhiqian on his lips.
Wei Zhiqian took a deep breath. “Momo.”
Did this girl know what she was doing?
“I… I like you too.” Since Wei Zhiqian had made it so clear, she could not keep her feelings for him bottled up any longer.
She liked him. She needed him to know she felt.
Otherwise, he would think he was in a one-sided romance, which would break her heart.
“I don’t want you to like anyone else. I was crying and asking you not to marry someone else simply because I was afraid,” Tan Mo said truthfully. “I know, you’re not currently in a relationship with anyone, nor are you attracted to anyone yet. But the moment I think of the possibility of that happening, I just feel like breaking down in tears. I’m certain that when the day comes, I won’t have the courage to watch you be with another woman.”
Tan Mo was surprised by her sudden boldness as she threw her arms around his waist and pressed her face tightly against his chest.
“I am the only one you like, right? You don’t like anyone else?” Tan Mo asked again.
“Yes.” Wei Zhiqian nodded. “You’re the only person I feel this way about. There is no one else. If I ever date or marry, you are and always will be the only one for me.”
“I’m so grateful to be at the perfect age when you finally came of age,” Wei Zhiqian said with a hint of glee in his voice.
In all 27 years of his life, he had never felt such joy as he did at this very moment.
The heavy boulder pressing against his chest was finally lifted, and his heart was overcome with relief.
In fact, his heart felt light as a feather.
He was completely and utterly exhilarated.
Tan Mo buried her face in his chest and giggled softly. Her little bouts of giggle sounded simply adorable.
Wei Zhiqian lowered his head, found her lips, and dove down for a kiss only to barely fall on the corners of her lips.
