Chapter 179: An Absolute Genius
She alone had destroyed the confidence of the whole Tsinghua University team.
Despite the cruelty that Tan Mo had shown, the Beijing University team had huge grins on their faces when they saw how dejected the Tsinghua University team was.
Even Zhang Xiaosheng had completely lost his confidence.
After seeing what had happened to all his team members who had gone before him, Zhang Xiaosheng decided to ignore Tan Mo completely when he got onto the stage.
He didn’t even curse at or belittle Tan Mo like he always did, as he was afraid he might be the one who was humiliated in the end.
However, even if Zhang Xiaosheng didn’t want to talk to Tan Mo, it didn’t mean Tan Mo had the same idea.
“Are you going to give your best this round?” Tan Mo asked with a pure, innocent expression.
Zhang Xiaosheng immediately turned to glare at Tan Mo. Are you going to ask the same question every round? How long are you going to cry anyway? Can you stop it?
It took him a long moment before he replied, “I’ll do what I can…”
“That’s good then.” Tan Mo nodded.
‘Good? What’s good about this?’ Zhang Xiaosheng cursed in his head. ‘What’s good about me doing all I can, and you still winning by a huge margin?’
It didn’t take long for the fourth round to begin.
“Please take a look at the first question,” the host said.
Despite his professor making it clear that all Zhang Xiaosheng had to do was push the buzzer whether he knew the answer or not, just like Tan Mo did, he still hesitated when the time came for him to do that.
The pressure one had to handle on the stage was far more than most people could imagine, and that was why he couldn’t be decisive.
And because of that hesitation, the buzzer was pushed by Tan Mo first.
After giving the correct answer, she turned to glance at Zhang Xiaosheng.
She had noticed that Zhang Xiaosheng was going to push the buzzer as soon as the timer started.
Is he trying to copy me?
She then turned to look at the participants from Tsinghua University.
Their professor was staring at Zhang Xiaosheng with his fists tightened. “Just push the buzzer! Push it!”
Tan Mo smiled. ‘It looks like they really are trying to copy me. That won’t do.’
She had already decided that she would not let Tsinghua University gain a single point.
Until the third question, Tan Mo remained the first to hit the buzzer while Zhang Xiaosheng hesitated.
But at the fourth question, Zhang Xiaosheng finally made up his mind.
Just like Tan Mo, as soon as the timer started, he pushed his buzzer.
As soon as the buzzer sounded, he was surprised to find that the pressure he had been feeling was gone.
As Zhang Xiaosheng was about to answer, the host suddenly said, “Beijing University, your answer?”
Zhang Xiaosheng turned around and his eyes widened. He was sure he had pressed the buzzer first, but the podium that Tan Mo was standing at was the one that lit up.
She’s still faster than me?
“My answer is A,” Tan Mo answered.
After that, Tan Mo turned around to stare at Zhang Xiaosheng innocently.
It was as if she was asking him a question. ‘Did something happen?’
Zhang Xiaosheng took a deep breath and was determined to be faster on the next question.
However, for the rest of the round, Tan Mo was always one step ahead of him.
She even went for the buzzer on the last question, not giving him a chance to answer for the whole round.
Once again, she got everything correct.
When Zhang Xiaosheng returned to his seat, he shook his head before the professor could even say anything. “She’s too fast. I admit that I hesitated on the first three questions, but I went all out from the fourth onward. I thought I’d gotten to the buzzer first, but she was faster. And she only got faster for the rest of the round. Even when I was all focused on pressing the buzzer first, she was still quicker than me.”
After a moment of hesitation, he frowned and turned to his teammates. “We have no choice but to continue with this strategy. Just press the buzzer even if you don’t know the question and don’t hesitate. Heck, you saw how focused I was, and I still couldn’t get it.”
“What the h*ll!” Tai Anjing was furious. “Not only can you not outsmart her, but you can’t get to the buzzer first either?”
Tai Anjing was unable to believe that Tan Mo could bully them so much.
In contrast, the Beijing University team was in a different mood.
“Tan Mo is going on a rampage,” Wu Jiazhen said.
“She definitely is.” Wang Yuemu laughed.
“Right? At first, she would leave the last question unanswered to see if her opponent wanted to answer it. At least, she gave them a chance to answer, but now she has decided to go all out!” Pu Xinyan cheered.
Tai Anjing represented Tsinghua University in the fifth round.
She was both furious and anxious.
The only thing she could hope for was for the topic to be something Tan Mo wasn’t good at.
“Are you going to give your best this round?” Tan Mo asked as usual.
As time went by, the question had already turned into a curse.
The question made Tai Anjing cry.
Tan Mo was stunned by her reaction. What the heck? What the h*ll are you crying for? It’s going to make me look like a bully!
Tan Mo quickly turned to explain, “I didn’t do anything. I just asked her if she’s going to give it her best.”
The others were speechless as Tan Mo was able to make her opponent cry with just a single question.
“Is she a devil?” Chen Shihua asked.
That was the question all of the participants from Tsinghua University wanted to ask.
Was she the devil?
Tai Anjing had completely lost her will to fight and did not even press the buzzer during the whole round.
Just as in all the previous rounds, Tan Mo got a full score while all the other teams didn’t get to answer a single question.
On the sixth round, Tan Mo asked again, “Are you going to give your best this round?”
“Why are you being so formal? It’s not like I’m any older than you,” Huang Mingshun mocked her.
“Huh?” Tan Mo’s eyes widened. She wasn’t sobbing anymore as she knew if she kept on doing it, the other people would get annoyed. “I’m just 15 years old and a freshman. Are you sure you are around my age?”
Other than those from Beijing University, everyone was shocked to learn that.
It was true that Tan Mo looked young, but they always thought she only had a baby face. No one would’ve thought that she was still a 15-year-old teen.
And a freshman…
A 15-year-old freshman was trampling over all her competitors.
“Wherever Tan Mo goes, the enemies perish!”
A group in the audience made up of Beijing University students stood up and began to chant.
Tan Mo was completely speechless as the chant made her sound like an antagonist.
It was so loud that the chants echoed throughout the hall.
Among the audience, Professor Liu was utterly surprised by this news. “I mean, she does look young, but she’s really just 15 years old?”
Professor Guo only smiled at him and did not reply.
“Wow, Guo, you really played me this time!” Professor Liu finally understood what was happening.
Tan Mo was clearly the ace of Beijing University.
The 15-year-old university freshman was an absolute genius.
