Chapter 239: Success!
The first two episodes of “Legend of Wei and Jin” were indeed outstanding. Even Tan Wenci couldn’t stop praising it wholeheartedly as he watched it.
During the advertisements they scrolled through Weibo’s discussion forums.
What they saw was shocking. “We’re in the hot topics! And we’re still rising by the second,” Tan Wenci announced.
“Dad, are you following this stuff now?” Tan Jinyi was pleasantly surprised.
“But of course we are.” Xu Mingzhen laughed. “I’ve been keeping up ever since your brother started working with Director Hou. I might even need to use Weibo for other purposes in the future. Mo Mo is really exploding in popularity right now. The Qi Cheng Film Company really chose the wrong time to decide to stop investing in the show. How do you think your father decided on such a crucial thing at such an important moment?
“Well, he already knew tons of people in the entertainment industry. He was able to clarify things and get information from them. He said that since your brother was heading down this path, and we’ve already got connections like these, we might as well do our best to help him out. That’s why he’s been investigating everything to do with this world.
“If it hadn’t been for me, he would’ve started to become a fan and maybe joined the industry,” Xu Mingzhen said. She couldn’t hide her amazement.
If Director Liu had been here, he would most definitely have been swayed by his emotions. It was no wonder Tan Wenci succeeded so well.
The Tan Yue Group hadn’t been anywhere near this level nine years ago.
Even though they’d been doing all right, there was no way that they could have crowned themselves as the country’s number one housewares and furniture brand. In just nine short years, Tan Wenci had helped the Tan Yue Group get to this level.
It was similar to when he’d first gotten into the entertainment industry, and he’d immediately gotten so immersed in it that he’d almost fallen into fandom.
As long as he started something, then he’d give it his all.
However, even with just a minor accident, it could ruin all the progress.
If it hadn’t been for Xu Mingzhen, Tan Wenci’s efforts could have been wasted. She gave him encouragement and counsel right up until the present day.
“And I don’t think I need to say this, but when Mo Mo became a scriptwriter so fast, your father insisted that we familiarize ourselves with the industry. That was why we didn’t let you guys fall into any traps.” Xu Mingzhen laughed.
No one from the Tan family had known that Tan Wenci was actually helping them out so much behind the scenes.
Hearing Xu Mingzhen tell them all this really touched everyone.
“Dad, you’re too good for us!” Like a little bird, Tan Mo ran into his embrace.
Of course, Tan Wenci was overjoyed at this.
As long as he had his daughter’s embrace, anything else could be left for another day.
It would be enough for him as long as his sons were close to him too.
Tan Jinqi and his brothers all clicked into the Weibo app to check it out.
They saw that the show had risen in rankings again. It was higher than what Tan Jinqi had previously read.
It had just entered tenth place.
“As long as this continues, there should be no problem with it entering the top five.” Tan Jinqi reassured everyone.
They clicked into the hot topics.
Everyone was praising their show.
As the show hadn’t been a high-budget project at first, most of the young cast were chosen because of their good quality. There were also some veteran actors.
And now, even though it was getting more popular by the minute, there still weren’t a huge number of fans.
With such a lineup, there were no reviews or rumors from fans or anything of that sort.
“Promise me that you all will go watch this treasure of a show. All the different types of acting are present, and plenty of experienced actors are in it too. Zhang Kangwang is extraordinary in it.”
“It’s been such a long time since I’ve watched a show with such perfect pacing. It’s not too rushed, and the amount of history used is just right.”
“I really do applaud the cinematic quality of the show.”
“The script has also been done extremely well. The foundation in history is very strong, and the dialogue is smooth too. Much of the lines have hidden meanings in them. Only after a few minutes did I realize what they actually meant. And once I looked back, there was this mysterious feeling. It’s definitely a show you can watch over and over again.”
“You’re absolutely right in saying that. I’ll wait for the launch of it on the video platform and watch it again. There really are tons of details, and when I watch it on television I really can’t savor and enjoy all the details as much as I wish. Only after watching it a few times will I be able to experience the different meanings.”
“Not watching this show multiple times really would let the scriptwriter down, especially because of all the tons of details. They definitely put a lot of effort into it, especially with the comprehensive dialogue.”
“I’m a history student, and the words within the dialogues are highly factual. I’ve checked my history books and they are very accurate. Some of them seem to have been taken from ancient archives. I really do recommend this show for history students like me.”
“The first two episodes were absolutely amazing. I do hope that the drama keeps going on like this. Make sure you don’t weaken the other episodes.”
“I do hope local dramas learn from this one and put more effort into theirs.”
“I remember that when this drama first started in production, a marketing post had said that the script had been written by a teenager, with no experience, and that they had even doubled as the consultant. But seeing that the show has this much level of historical detail, I really can’t believe that the consultant wasn’t a history professional. A rookie writer and consultant? There’s just no way!”
“And it’s full of details about the mannerisms and costumes…the props too! All these tiny day-to-day things were written accurately. Everyone can see that whoever organized this really had their facts well checked.”
“Liu Runlin is frigging awesome! So is the scriptwriter, consultant, and the costume department!”
Tan Jinsheng finished looking over the feed. “This just all proves how great Mo Mo is,” he said proudly.
Tan Jinyi then clicked into a historical blogger to find out more.
And what he saw was a comparison between historical photos and the props on set. This included pictures from museums and even poems from archives.
Wu Tiaojun, a history professor, had commented, “I’ll be making a video on these comparisons and pictures later in order to make more comments. Once again, ‘Legend of Wei and Jin’ is extremely worthy of praise. The production crew really outdid themselves.”
After today’s initial airing of two episodes, “Legend of Wei and Jin” has entered the trending number one search.
Tan Jinsheng shook his head in disbelief. “Big brother was right, they really were using age to judge this.”
And on the second day, the “Legend of Wei and Jin” page on Weibo released good news: Congratulations to “Legend of Wei and Jin” on their premiere. They’ve reached a viewership of more than double stage two.
“Legend of Wei and Jin” was now airing on both Dong Hua TV and Xing Ke TV.
Dong Hua TV received a viewership of 2.12 percent, and Xing Ke TV received a viewership of 2.05 percent.
They were respectively ranked as number one and number two.
This was all because of “Legend of Wei and Jin”.
After midnight, the “Legend of Wei and Jin” page on Weibo once again sent out congratulatory messages.
Their online viewership had broken multiple records.
Two large platforms screened their show, and Peanut video streamed it reaching 270 million, and Pie video streamed it reaching 290 million.
