The Green Tea’s Crushing Victories in the ’70s Chapter 428

Chapter 428 - “Comrade Tong, you are such a hero!” (3)
Wen Rugui walked up on his long legs and introduced himself. “Hi, I’m Wen Rugui, Tong Xuelu’s boyfriend.”
Jackson seemed to have just noticed Wen Rugui. He took Wen Rugui’s hand and said, “Hi, I am friend of Comrade Tong. It is very nice to meet you.”
This was the first time Tong Xuelu saw the possessive Wen Rugui.
But that made him seem masculine. She liked that about him.
Tong Xuelu smiled and said, “Where are you going after this, Comrade Xiao Jie? Is someone coming to pick you up?”
Jackson shook his head. “My dad went to visit his relatives. I came specifically to look for you. Director Gao said you will show me around.”
“……”
Her lips curved, Tong Xuelu also cussed out all Director Gao’s ancestors.
Hot dang. He wouldn’t even let her have some time off over the New Year.
Cussing aside, she had no choice but to take over the burden.
Tong Xuelu figured that she would prepare lunch early now that Jackson was here. She felt that he was here purposefully for lunch.
As Wen Rugui liked fish, she had saved two fish just for him before New Year for when he came over.
She made one fish into a soup and the other into pickled cabbage fish.
There were still dumplings left over from the day before. She made two platefuls of them. With the addition of a bamboo shoot and meat stir fry and a vegetable stir fry that ought to be enough food.
Wen Rugui helped her out when she cooked and the two were able to have some more alone time.
Jackson was surrounded by the children outside. As he had his camera with him, the kids were very curious about it.
Jackson was very patient as well. He explained to them slowly and took a lot of photos of them. The kids were pleased and immediately grew fond of him.
When the dishes had been brought out to the living room, the entire living room was filled with sumptuous aroma. Everybody gulped.
The fish soup was delightful. It was cooked to a milky color and, not only was its color pretty and taste savory, just one sip of it could warm one’s body.
The fish in the pickled cabbage fish was tender and pickled cabbage crunchy. Even when one’s tongue was numb from it, one would not want to have one less bite.
The bamboo shoot, being stirred fry with the pork and peppers absorbed the juice from the pork and the spiciness of the bell pepper. It was sweet, aromatic, and crispy. The crunchy sound it made when bit down on was very pleasing.
Everybody ate so much that their mouths were greasy.
Jackson, too, praised about Tong Xuelu nonstop. “Comrade Tong, your cooking was amazing! This was the first time I truly appreciated Chinese food!
“This soup of yours is so amazing. I am not even exaggerating when I said I can finish an entire pot of it on my own!
“Comrade Tong is truly pretty and competent……”
SNAP!
Jackson wasn’t even done talking when he was cut off by a snapping sound.
Everybody turned and they saw that Wen Rugui had broke the chopsticks that he was holding into halves.
Everyone, “……”
Wen Rugui had a nonchalant look on him. “I failed to control my strength properly.”
Everyone, “……” Was that really about controlling your strength?
Tong Xuelu cocked her head and looked at him. “Let me get you a fresh pair?”
Wen Rugui shook his head. “That won’t be necessary. I will go get it myself.”
Tong Xuelu nodded.
Owing to the minor mishap, Jackson was no longer able to continue with his praises.
Low and behold, he had no intention of leaving after lunch.
If he wasn’t leaving, Wen Rugui and Old Mr. Wen sure as heck weren’t going to leave.
Welp, they couldn’t all just sit around and stare at each other.
Tong Xuelu thought about it some and said, “Have you visited the Forbidden City yet, Comrade Xiao Jie?”
Jackson nodded. “Yes, I have. I’ve visited it three days after my arrival. The structures there were incredible!”
Tong Xuelu, “Then let’s go visit there again.”
Jackson, “……”
Wen Rugui finally smiled when he heard that.
If Tong Xuelu was going to go with a man, for certain Wen Rugui would be going with.
Tong Jiaming and the other siblings wanted to go as well and Old Mr. Wen and Commander Xiao didn’t want to stay behind either.
What would be the point of just the two of them staying behind when the kids were out?
Seeing that the Tong family were going out, the Wei family said they wanted to go with as well.
As such, the big group headed to Forbidden City together.
