The Green Tea’s Crushing Victories in the ’70s Chapter 357

Chapter 357 - "You are right about that. My grandson is amazing!" (2)
Tong Xuelu got up at daybreak the next morning and knocked on the door of the two boys. “Tong Jiaxin, it’s time to prepare breakfast!”
Tong Jiaming was the one who answered the door. “Big Sister, I can go. Jiaxin is still asleep.”
Tong Xuelu raised her brows. “Then wake him up. We’ve had an agreement yesterday. He would be taking care all the housework starting today.”
Tong Jiaming paused for a little and nodded. “Alright, let me go wake him up.”
Tong Jiaxin was unhappy when he was woken up. “Second Brother is the one who usually prepares breakfast.”
Tong Xuelu, “That was the past. You will be responsible for all the housework starting today. Or you can go back to school!”
Tong Jiaxin was startled awake immediately. “Alright, alright. I’ll go prepare breakfast. Sheesh.”
He hated going to school more than doing housework.
Tong Xuelu brought Tong Jiaxin to the kitchen after she had washed up. “Watch carefully. I am going to teach you just this one time how to cook. You are going to have to do it on your own from now on.”
Tong Jiaxin, “……”
Tong Xuelu, “In addition to cooking, you will also to sweep, mop, clean the chicken coop, take care of laundry, and take care of Mianmian. These will all be your responsibilities.”
Tong Jiaxin’s mouth twitched violently. “Hasn’t Grandma Shen been taking care of Mianmian?”
Tong Xuelu said matter-of-factly, “You had to go to school in the past. Asking Grandma Shen the favor was the last resort. Now that you have dropped out of school, it doesn’t make sense to trouble her anymore. Besides, we can save more money for the family without have to bring Mianmian over.”
Tong Jiaxin, “…………”
Why did he feel that he had fallen into a trap?
Tong Xuelu couldn’t be bother to pay him too much attention. She taught Tong Jiaxin how to cook and went over to give Shen Wanrong a heads up before heading to work.
Tong Jiaxin felt that this wasn’t going well but the thought of not having to go to school and that there would be no homework and examinations, he cheered up again.
He would be the one cooking going forward. That would be his opportunity to have meat without the others knowing.
That thought made him even happier. He brought Mianmian to the study and started playing with her.
Matters about selling spice packets had been settled.
The price was set at 20 cents per pack and the profit would go to the Commerce Department. The Commerce Department would then disperse the money to the restaurant’s employees as subsidy.
Tong Xuelu announced the good news after she had returned from the Commerce Department.
Everybody was stunned by the news.
Guo Chunyu, “Manager Tong, we will really receive subsidies going forward?”
Tong Xuelu nodded. “That’s right, but your workload will also go up. I am going to need help grinding up some herbs.”
To prevent the others from figuring out her ingredient, she would be grinding a few of the herb items into powder before packaging them into the finished products.
The cost per pack was 15 cents and they would make 5 cents profit each. But that was just the start.
She would then be selling beef balls and fish balls. Those would be the main moneymakers.
The profit on the spice packets were just 5 cents each. That was why those from the Commerce Department didn’t think much of it.
The Commerce Department might not care much about it, but those at the restaurant were delighted.
They all made a flat income. Unlike workers at the factory who would undergo technical evaluation periodically. Their salary would also go up with their technical skills.
Those at the restaurant, could make the same amount their entire life.
Things were different now, however. It didn’t matter how little it was. Any amount of subsidy was extra to them!
Tong Xuelu, “I will divide them up accordingly when the time comes. The harder you work, the me you will get. So work hard!”
Meng Qingqing and the others expressed that they would work hard. Everybody was very motivated.
That made Tong Xuelu very happy.
