The Green Tea’s Crushing Victories in the ’70s Chapter 270

Chapter 270 - What a cute and cunning man. (4)
Edited by: Lulu
Both Tong Xuelu and Wang Xiaoyun received the letters a day later.
Just as Huang Qimin had said, Wang Xiaoyun was delightfully surprised when she received the letter.
Seeing the letter, Wang Xiaoyun’s colleague teased her. “Xiaoyun, is that a letter from your boyfriend?”
Wang Xiaoyun’s cheeks turned red, and she nodded shyly. “I didn’t think he would write me a letter. We live in the same city. What is it that he couldn’t just tell me in person? What a waste of money to send a letter!”
Her colleague said to her, “Aiya, that means he has you on his mind. That’s so romantic!”
Another person also teased. “I agree! That’s so romantic!”
“You all are teasing me. I’m going to ignore all of you now!”
Wang Xiaoyun blushed even more. She stamped her feet and ran off.
She opened up the letter with sparkling eyes when she was alone.
The first part of the letter was alright, and Wang Xiaoyun blushed more as she read it. She even commented on it. “His handwriting looks like chicken scratch!”
Her face, however, changed colors when she saw the very last sentence.
What she read was –
“Xiaoyun, I am truly very sorry. Please don’t fart on me, alright?”
Wang Xiaoyun was so angry that her face was turning red and white.
That jerk Zhou Yan. When has she ever farted in front of him?!
She would never do something that was so unladylike. What kind of a person did he take her for?
Jerk! Go to hell!
Wen Rugui’s letter was mailed to Tong Xuelu’s place and not to the government-operated restaurant.
As such, Tong Xuelu did not see her letter till she got off work.
She was quite surprised when she saw that the letter was from Wen Rugui.
She never would have thought that he would think about writing a letter to her!
She, too, was thinking about the same thing the night before.
Before her transmigration, technology was already quite advanced, and everybody used their cellphones to communicate. Very few people would opt to write letters.
Now that she has transmigrated to this day and age, she would like to experience how lovers would communicate in this era.
Tong Xuelu opened up the envelope, finding only one piece of paper inside of it.
“Comrade Tong, How have you been? I was very happy about our date on Sunday. The tremella dessert was very delicious, and your cooking was wonderful as usual.”
“After I returned to the base, I have been spending most of my time in the laboratory. The weather is getting cold now, and Comrade Tong should watch out for your health. The military jacket is still too thin for this weather. I have some extra tickets for fabrics. Please use them and get yourself some suitable clothing for this weather.”
“I worry that Comrade Tong finds it odd that I am writing to you when we both live in the city. Please do let me know what you think about it.”
When Tong Xuelu finished reading, her lips curved upward uncontrollably.
She felt as though someone had shoved a piece of candy into her mouth, and as always, because of him, the sweetness spread from her mouth to her heart.
Wen Rugui had successfully surprised her pleasantly again and again. The letter was simple and not suggestive at all. Yet his concerns for her could be seen throughout the entire letter.
She looked at the fabric tickets, and there were a whole 10 of them!
Many families only came across 1 ticket a month. Wen Rugui had, on the other hand, sent her 10 at once.
He was too nice to her!
Ten fabric tickets were nothing in later days, but they were definitely a rarity in this era. More importantly, they showed that he cared for her, a lot.
The thought of that made her heart burn and her eyes softened.
The takeaway was that he was not as much of a bore as she had imagined.
He even left an open question at the end of the letter, so she would have to respond to him. Once she responded, he would write back again. With the back and forth, their connection would be established.
Wu. What a cute and cunning man.

Translator’s rambling:
Poor Zhou Yan. His friends are always setting him up for failure. *sighs*
