Sun Manrou wasn’t going to let him go. She took a step up and grabbed the bag. “You can go to the restroom, but the bag is staying. Where are we going to find you if you take off with it?”
The middle-aged man went on and on, but Sun Manrou refused to let go of the bag.
The two’s struggles quickly caught the cops’ attention. “What are you two doing over there?”
The more Sun Manrou looked at the middle-aged man, the more she felt that something was not right. She assumed that he was a thief. Turning toward the cops, she said, “Hurry over here, Comrade Cop, this man……”
Before she could finish her sentence, however, the man brandished a knife. A knife was pressed against her long and fair neck, right where her trachea was.
Sun Manrou gasped in fear. All of the blood seemed to have left her face, and she was pale like a piece of paper.
Screaming could be heard all over as the passengers nearby all got up and started to run. The cart was plunged into chaos.
Sun Manrou’s body shook uncontrollably. “Com- Comrade, what are you trying to do?”
“Shut up, Tramp!” shouted the man viciously, his cheek shaking.
The cops came quickly, but they dared not get too close to him, worrying about the hostage. “Put your knife down. You have nowhere to go!”
The middle-aged man dragged Sun Manrou with him as he backed up. “Don’t come any closer, or I am going to stab her!”
Had the tramp not opened her big mouth, he would have gotten the male comrade’s referral letter already!”
Had he not needed her as a hostage, he would have stabbed her already!
The man’s knife was very sharp, and a thin red line could already be seen on Sun Manrou’s neck. The cops did not dare to make a move rashly.
Feeling the pain in her neck, Sun Manrou shook like a leaf left on a tree branch in autumn. She was, however, still calm enough not to try to struggle and scream.
The middle-aged man dragged her backward a step at a time. “All of you move two carts away. I am going to get off at the next station. I will kill her and then myself if you don’t do as I say!”
Having said that, his knife went deeper into Sun Manrou’s neck. The skin was broken, and blood could be seen.
The cops, too worried that he would harm the hostage, had no choice but to back up.
“We will be pulling into Xinxi Station shortly. Passengers who wish to get off here please make sure you have collected all of your items and wait by the door at the ends of the cart.”
The announcement began to play on the train, and it would be pulling into the station shortly.
The middle-aged man’s eyes lit up as he dragged Sun Manrou closer to the train door.
He was just about to reach the door when, suddenly, someone came up quickly behind him, grabbed his hand that was holding the knife, and gave it a forceful twist.
The middle-aged man cried out in pain, and the knife that he was holding fell onto the floor.
As soon as the knife was gone, Sun Manrou made a run for it.
Furious, the middle-aged man cursed, turned, and was about to attack the man behind him with all his might.
Nevertheless, he was yet to turn around when he was thrown to the ground by the man behind him with his face pressed forcefully onto the floor.
Looking out of the corners of his eyes, he saw that the person who had taken him down was none other than Wen Rugui, who was sitting next to him earlier.
Seeing that the middle-aged man was subdued, the cops came running up and cuffed the middle-aged man.
The train pulled into the station, and the cops got off the train with the middle-aged man, Wen Rugui, and Sun Manrou.
The cops finally announced the middle-aged man’s identity after they had arrived at the cop station – a special agent lurking in their country.
They had received a tip to search on the train, and they would have been able to confirm the person’s identity once they saw the referral letter.
It was lucky that they were able to apprehend him with Wen Rugui’s help. Their loss otherwise would be unimaginable.
