Chapter 6046: Truth or Lies
Eventually, Fleeting handed it back to Li Qiye.
“It is useless with me, keep it as a memento.” Li Qiye said.
“Thank you, Young Noble.” Fleeting paused for a moment before taking a deep breath and bowing.
After putting it away, he said: “Young Noble and Fellow Daoist Six-style, why did you come here?”
“Let’s say this was back in the ancient period and I brought the badge, what would have happened?” Li Qiye smiled.
“Hmm…” Fleeting pondered before answering: “Pardon my meager knowledge, but from what I’ve read, the badge was used for communication.”
“Go on.” Li Qiye smirked.
Fleeting sighed and smiled wryly: “That’s the limit of my knowledge. There were only a few lines in the text.”
“The young noble came searching for a place, does anything pop up for you, Fellow Daoist?” Six-style said.
He stroked his beard and clapped: “I’ve been here for a while and know it like the back of my hand, there’s one place in particular…”
Having said that, he turned and led the way.
Six-style and Li Qiye exchanged glances. Li Qiye chuckled and didn’t mind following Fleeting. Everyone had their own issues that they didn't wish to dwell on.
The trio crossed through mountains before reaching a peak covered in trees and vegetation. Stone ruins were hidden beneath, not a fortress but more of a watchtower.
It was overgrown with weeds with smashed parts everywhere. On top was a dao platform, clearly no longer active.
“Right here, Young Noble.” Fleeting bowed: “A potential portal.”
“Interesting, another’s domain.” Li Qiye walked around and said.
“I don’t know where it will lead, only that it was activated before once and never used again.” Fleeing said.
“You know a lot.” Li Qiye smirked.
Fleeting took a sip of wine and saved the taste. He sighed and said: “When I was younger, someone always told me their regrets over and over again.”
“What kind of regrets?” Li Qiye asked.
Fleeting didn’t answer and glanced at the ten loops on Li Qiye’s arm.
Li Qiye casually tossed it over and Fleeting took a look before remarking: “Looks like the legend might be true.”
“What legend?” Six-style knew the Enigma Loops were their dynasty’s legacy. It didn’t have anything to do with Fleeting.
“The progenitor of Five-element Mountain possessed these rings once.” Fleeting said.
“Impossible.” Six-style blurted since her dynasty had nothing to do with this mysterious lineage.
“Don’t mind it, Fellow Daoist, I merely heard stories that can be untrue.” Fleeting said.
“Truth in lies and lies in truth, anything is possible.” Li Qiye said.
“Right, Young Noble.” Fleeting had another big gulp and said: “I heard of something else too.”
“What?” Six-style became interested.
“The progenitor of Five-element Mountain is still around.” He said while staring at the rings.
“Purelotus Wood Ancestor?” Six-style became serious.
“No, the creator. Purelotus came later.” He shook his head.
“Ah, so Five-element had two progenitors.” Six-style said.
“Maybe three.” He said: “I was told that a couple started Five-element Mountain together.”
“If we’re talking about the founder of Five-element Mountain, then there were five.” Li Qiye smiled.
“Five?” Fleeting didn’t expect this.
“Five progenitors?! Is this why they were considered the strongest dao lineage.” Six-style couldn’t believe it.
“Yes.” Li Qiye nodded.
“So five, not a husband and wife duo.” Fleeting said.
“No, that is still correct, they were part of the five.” Li Qiye smiled.
“I see.” Fleeting pondered in silence.
“You might not know this, but they are related to the three immortals as well.” Li Qiye said.
“The mythical immortals.” Six-style became startled again.
“It’s true then…” Fleeting murmured.
“Tell me, what is true?” Li Qiye pressed the matter.
“Back to what I talked about earlier, the progenitors of Five-element Mountain might have connections with Enigma Dynasty.” He returned the loops to Li Qiye.
“How can that be?” Six-style thought there should be records of it.
“No one knows how Enigma was created, right?” Fleeting said.
“Hidden Ancestor.” She said while staring at Li Qiye - the most likely suspect.
Fleeting felt the same way as he sat back down on the ground.
Li Qiye chuckled and said: “I am not Hidden Ancestor, no relation at all.”
“What about the Enigma Loops?” Six-style asked.
“By chance.” Li Qiye shrugged.
“...” She didn’t believe him and thought the same as Minisun.
“Do you know the progenitors of Five-element Mountain, Young Noble?” Fleeting asked.
“Know what about them? I am not one of the five.” Li Qiye chuckled, aware that the two suspected he might be one of the five progenitors.
