Chapter 5960: Beast Aura
“Like a dog.” Edge Mountain Crone answered, having a strong grasp of the mountain.
“Why’s that?” Li Qiye smiled.
“Because it looks like a dog.” The daoist responded.
The old demon glared at him for stating the obvious.
“Well, you’re not wrong.” Li Qiye said.
The daoist gloated and bowed: “You have taught me well, Young Noble.”
She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at his shameless flattery.
“Don’t let me down since I’m such a good teacher, tell me more about it then.” Li Qiye pointed at the statue while smiling at the daoist.
“Uhh…” He stared at the statue, unable to give a decent assessment.
She wanted to laugh but didn’t want to disturb him.
“What is it?” He circled the statue for a bit before asking her.
“The symbol of our sect.” She responded.
“How is it special?” Li Qiye asked.
The two stared at the statue, unable to grasp anything. She had taken a look at it countless times and the result was the same.
“I only know that it is the reason for the sect’s name. The bull is resting on the mountain.” She explained.
“You actually believe that?” He chuckled: “How foolish.”
Some might take this as mockery but she viewed it as enlightenment.
“Make use of your divining ability and take a look at the mountain and statue.” He continued.
The daoist staggered one step backward while waving his hands: “Young Noble, my meager skills aren’t of use here.”
“If you can’t see anything, then don’t bother trying to inherit the dao of Heaven Calculating, it’s a waste of your effort and life. Do you not want to prove your qualifications?” Li Qiye said flatly.
The daoist turned red. Although he had always talked about his fortune-telling as a way to survive in the mortal world, he was, more or less, acting humble.
Their sect originated from Jade-zenith Progenitor - an unfathomable legacy. Just being at the elementary level meant something incredible.
“I, I will try my best.” He mustered courage and took down the mirror on his chest.
“Trying your best isn’t always good enough.” Li Qiye said.
The daoist took a deep breath and placed his mirror on the statue. He formed a mudra and chanted: “Peerless and boundless divines… activate!”
His vitality erupted - not something extraordinary and weaker than someone such as the old demon.
“Buzz.” It flowed into the mirror and a trigram appeared, rotating constantly. The celestial and earthly branches derived dao laws, causing the mirror's light to engulf the statue.
“Trigram image activation!” He roared and his eyes became resplendent and godly.
Alas, the special mirror and his heavenly gaze didn’t grant him any insight into the statue.
“What’s the point of this activation?” Li Qiye criticized: “Your trigram is out of sync, the two branches are sparse as well, and they can’t grasp the mysteries of divination. Haven’t you properly read the merit laws while training?”
His criticism was ear-piercing and harsh, but a flash of insight struck the daoist.
“Trigram recall!” His eyes suddenly lost their brilliance and divinity. He gazed into the abyss and saw something looking back at him.
“Pop!” He couldn't handle this power and was pushed back, vomiting a mouthful of blood.
“A beast aura.” He recalled what Li Qiye had said earlier about this mountain.
“What?” The old woman was stronger than him but didn’t sense anything peculiar.
The daoist restrained his fear and took a deep breath. He stared at her and revealed: “There is something gigantic beneath your mountain.”
“Gigantic?” She had thought she knew the shape of every tree in this area.
“See, now this is the elementary level of Heaven Calculating.” Li Qiye smiled.
“Thank you for guiding me, Young Noble.” The daoist saw how Li Qiye used this opportunity to help him properly utilize their branch's merit laws.
He dropped to his knees to show his gratitude.
“Young Noble, what is under our sect?” She asked.
“What does the mountain look like again?” Li Qiye smiled.
“A dog.” She answered without needing to think.
“Have you ever seen a Bi’an before? It slightly resembles a dog or a tiger, taken from Beastcoin City.” Li Qiye revealed.
