Chapter 585Chapter 585
When Molly returned with freshly made warm water, she saw Claudia, who was feeling terrible earlier, had magically calmed
down and was asleep again under Sean's patient reassurance.
"Shh!" Sean put his finger to his lips as a gesture to Molly to keep the noise down to avoid waking up Claudia.
Molly, of course, knew that Claudia would feel better when she was asleep, she nodded in acknowledgment. But, she was
worried that Claudia's fever would come back, so she stayed by Claudia's side, not daring to leave. It was not until four in the
morning that the fever left Claudia.
Molly was completely exhausted. She had been working in the research lab all day, and she was worried about Claudia's
condition when she got home. Now, she was finally relieved but exhausted. She leaned back on the couch and dozed off in just a
few minutes.
Sean had put Claudia to sleep. Because the fever had gone down, she was sleeping soundly without
waking up again. So, he put her to bed and covered her with a quilt, when he went back to talk to Molly,
he saw Molly dozing off on the sofa. He swallowed back the words that he did not manage to say. It
was not important, anyway.
It was early fall when the temperature in the air would drop drastically at night. Sean took a look at
Molly, who was sleeping, reached for the blanket at the end of the couch, and put it on her. His action
caused the sleeping Molly to slip and fall onto his lap, but Molly was so drained out that she did not
wake up. Sean looked at her weary sleeping face and raised his hand, but he did not help her up, nor
did he wake her up. He covered her with the blanket again and let her sleep on his lap like that.
And, Sean, who had already been through a tiring day, propped up his head with his hand while his
elbow rested on the arm of the couch, and he fell asleep. The early morning sunlight shone through the window and illuminated the dim room. Molly slowly
opened her eyes, and her consciousness drifted back before she remembered she had fallen asleep
from exhaustion last night.
'Claudia!' As the sick Claudia came to mind, Molly bounced up from the couch, not noticing that Sean
was beside her. Her action jolted Sean out of his sleep. Molly then noticed him sitting next to her on the
couch. His eyes were closed with one hand propping up his head, and the tiredness of staying up late
was on his face.
She realized she seemed to have lain on his lap. "Ahem." Molly was too embarrassed to even think
about it and immediately looked away.
"Why are you awake so early?" Sean was completely awake by now.
Molly nodded. "Yeah." She did not dare to mention that she had pillowed his lap, but she asked him with a slightly angry tone, "
Why didn't you wake me up when I fell asleep last night? How could you sleep on the couch? You were working all day, and you
can't get a good rest on the couch." she did not even notice the concern in her voice when she spoke.
"I saw you were too tired, and I wanted to let you rest. So, I didn't wake you up." This was also the reason he felt sorry for her for
not resting well since Claudia's fever was gone last night.
Seeing his evasive response, Molly's heart fluttered, and she could not help but look him in the eyes. "Isn't that silly?"
He had obviously stayed up late to look after the child with her last night, and then took care of her, besides having to go back to
work after all this.
