Qin Chu’s mother knew her son had a lot on his plate and didn’t want to distract him with this trivial stuff.
Worriedly, she stood at the window of the living room and looked out, but Su Yu’s car was too distant for her to see the inside.
In the Audi A8L, Su Yu turned up the AC as he saw Huo Mian wasn’t dressed for the weather.
“Su Yu, you saw… Qin…um… my husband today?” Huo Mian asked with faked casualness.
“Yeah. We had lunch. Didn’t you see the post on the Moments?” Su Yu wondered why Huo Mian brought it up.
“He invited you?”
“Yeah. The fellow left before paying the bill. He made me pay…” Su Yu chuckled.
“What did Qin Chu tell you?” Huo Mian asked.
“Nothing unusual. Just casual things. He’s a man of few words, so you can imagine how awkward I felt… I should have brought Mr. An with me,” Su Yu complained.
“No. With my husband’s personality, he must have something to talk about with you if he asked you to lunch.”
Obviously, Huo Mian didn’t believe him.
“Oh, I remembered our promise to send for the people who saved our lives. I told Qin Chu about it and he said he’d handle it.”
“What else did he say to you?”
“Nothing. What? You two fought again?”
“Oh, no. I’m just curious.”
Seeing Su Yu’s suspicion, Huo Mian stopped asking him about it.
Su Yu didn’t think it was weird that Qin Chu asked him to have lunch. He thought Qin Chu just wanted to ease the tension between them.
So, he didn’t tell Huo Mian that Qin Chu had asked him about the explosion.
While they talked, Qin Chu came back in his Bentley and stopped the car beside Su Yu’s.
Then he got out of the car…
“Qin Chu is back.”
Seeing the car from his rearview mirror, Su Yu opened the door and got out.
Looking displeased, Huo Mian got out, too.
“What were you talking about?” Qin Chu looked at them and asked casually; he didn’t show any emotions on his face.
“We were talking about our elopement,” Huo Mian said jokingly.
Su Yu was startled, thinking the joke was a bit out of line.
“Ahem… Dr. Huo, I can’t take this slander. It’s a big offense to seduce a married woman. If it got onto Weibo, I’d be stoned to death… Please don’t joke about it.”
“Don’t worry. I was just teasing my husband.”
Huo Mian smiled at Qin Chu.
“Mian, you’ve been willful lately. You’re not yourself.”
“Do you like me behaving like this?”

“Do you want me to tell you the truth?” The corners of Qin Chu’s mouth pulled up coldly.
“Of course…” Huo Mian cooed, but it also sounded like a challenge.
Anyway, Su Yu, as an outsider, felt very awkward.
“To be honest… I dislike you behaving like this…” Qin Chu replied without softening his words.
Huo Mian’s expression changed slightly as if she hadn’t expected Qin Chu would be so ruthless to her.

Watching the Audi A8L left, Qin Chu turned his eyes to Huo Mian and asked her in a voice devoid of warmth, “What on earth do you want?”
He said “you” instead of “Mian” because he knew this scheming woman wasn’t Mian and didn’t deserve to be Mian.
