“Not at all. It’s no big deal.”
“Sis, don’t boast.”
“You have no right to scold me. If you didn’t insist on coming out at midnight, it wouldn’t have happened.” Huo Mian pointed at Lu Yan with a chuckle.
“Damn it! They disrupted our meal. I’m not happy. Brother-in-law, I’m still hungry. Can you take us to eat shrimp dumplings?”
“No problem. Let’s go.”
Qin Chu didn’t blame Lu Yan since he knew Nalo would have found them sooner or later even if Lu Yan didn’t come out tonight.
They went to a HK style café to have a midnight snack.
“The man who called Nalo was Qiao Fei, right?” Huo Mian asked.
“Yeah. He must have kidnapped Nalo’s son,” said Qin Chu.
“His son? Isn’t that fellow gay?” Huo Mian was puzzled.
“Sis, the madman Nalo is bisexual and as weird as his psycho elder brother. Qiao Fei kidnapped the child that he had with a surrogate mother. It’s said he loves that boy very much. I’m surprised that Qiao Fei would come up with this idea. He’s so smart.” Lu Yan grinned.
“Look how happy you are when you talk about Qiao Fei…”
“Shut up, Sis. I’m having a cold war with him. He did it just to make me happy. After all, if I died, he’d be a single man for the rest of his life.”
“You’re so sure of yourself.” Qin Chu glanced at Lu Yan coolly.
“Of course I’m sure of myself. I was born beautiful and I am extremely adorable. Who can resist me?” Lu Yan boasted.
“Right, you’re super adorable… Come on and eat.”
Seeing her sister’s playful look, Huo Mian was exasperated and put a shrimp dumpling into her bowl.
“Did Nalo only ask about Huo Siqian? Did he say something else?” Qin Chu looked at Huo Mian.
“No. He seemed very concerned about Huo Siqian.”
“Of course he is. They are gay lovers and are both psychotic.” Lu Yan didn’t have many good things to say about the brothers, Ian and Nalo.
“Um… Did they really…” Huo Mian was too bashful to say it out aloud.
Qin Chu didn’t answer; he just reached out and touched her face.
“Don’t worry. I won’t let them hurt you…”
“I’m fine, Honey. I’m not as useless as before.” Huo Mian stuck out her tongue.
After the midnight meal, they returned to South Hill Manor to sleep.
On the next morning, Lu Yan didn’t get up until 10 AM.
She woke up to find the house empty.
The twins were in school while Huo Mian and Qin Chu had gone to work.
Even Huo Mian’s parents-in-law had gone out with friends.
Lu Yan walked downstairs groggily in her nightgown.
“Miss Yan, do you want to have breakfast now? I’ll get it ready for you,” Uncle Li, the butler of South Hill Manor, asked her.
“No, no. I have no appetite. They are all out?”
“Yes. The young madam said if you feel bored, you can go to the South Side Hospital to have lunch with her.”
“Okay, I got it. You can return to your work now, don’t mind me.”
Groggily, she returned to her bedroom to brush her teeth and wash her face.
She picked up her cellphone to play games and found the updates in her Moments looked quite unusual.
Although she only had Pudding, Little Bean, and Huo Mian in her WeChat contacts, she still got a blow.
Pudding posted a picture of an exquisite hand-made music box with only one sentence, “Happy Chinese Valentine’s Day.”
Little Bean was more theatrical. She posted a picture of a black swan cake and a huge teddy bear that looked super adorable.
Furthermore, she posted a picture of herself with Gao Boyuan with the words, “Mr. Gao’s cake is delicious.”
“Damn it. What’s up? Today is Chinese Valentine’s Day?” Lu Yan left a comment under Little Bean’s post.
