“Who knows? I heard she’s got people with power behind her. The warden would come and visit her once a day. But, I heard she’s a murderer. I have no idea who she is, but it’s odd. I’ve seen her once, she’s young and pretty. What a shame.”
“Thank you.” Huo Mian took the fruit platter and placed it on the table. Behind her was the bed she had neatly made. She didn’t feel like she was in prison at all. Other than being restricted to where she was allowed to go, everything was still the same as when she was free.
She was able to eat well and sleep soundly.
She took a bite of the kiwi and immediately felt nauseous.
“What’s wrong? Do you feel unwell?” the female guard inquired.
“I’m fine, could just be the stomach flu.”
“I’ll go and get the doctor.”
Huo Mian immediately grabbed the guard by the arm. “No, no, I’m fine.”
The female guard turned around and whispered back, “You don’t have to be afraid. I don’t think anything will happen to you. You’ll get out very soon. Our warden visits you every single day, you must have someone powerful behind you.”
“Um, not really.” Huo Mian didn’t know how to explain her situation. She really wasn’t the daughter of a senior official, nor was she some high-brow authoritative figure. They didn’t have to look at her like she was a freak.
“You don’t need to say anything. I understand. Just know that I’ll take care of you, and let me know when you need anything.”
“Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it. Why don’t you eat first, I’ll go patrol around a little,” the female guard said as she got up at left.
However, Huo Mian no longer had any appetite. Instead, she began wondering how Qin Chu was doing, whether he was anxious or worried.
– Inside a dark hotel room, located in the suburbs of C city –
Lu Yan looked rather handsome and dashing after she changed into a black suit with a pair of high heeled leather boots. She took out a knife from her boots, inspected it, and slid it right back in.
“Boss, are we really going to break her out today?”
“Yes.”
“But…”
“What?”
“The lunar calendar advised against prison-breaking today,” the muscular subordinate said wearily.
Lu Yan glanced up and immediately pulled him by the ear. “The lunar calendar also suggests against murders, but believe me when I say I will kill you right now!”
“No no no, Boss! Boss! Don’t- don’t do that! What I mean is, Mr. Qiao has communicated to us that he wants you to promptly return back to Russia.”
“Psycho Qiao’s commands? When have I ever listened to him?” Lu Yan rolled her eyes.
“Yes, but, Mr. Qiao is rather terrifying. Perhaps we shouldn’t rebel against him.”
“Save your bullshit. Once we rescue Huo Mian, we’ll go back to Australia directly. In an hour or so, I will be able to enjoy a glass of red wine with my sister in our private jet.” Lu Yan smiled, she was in a rather good mood at the thought of that.
Right at the moment, the door opened, and another subordinate walked in. “Boss, everything has been arranged. Once we break open the prison with explosives, the helicopter will fly down within a minute and we’ll head directly towards international waters. They will most likely not be able to catch up with us.”
“Good work, let’s go.” Lu Yan threw on a triumph smile as she held her chin up. With her squad, she was ready to break open the prison tonight to get Huo Mian out. However, right before she was able to hop on the car, she and her squad were suddenly surrounded, and dozens of guns pointed directly at her head.
A black Porsche pulled over slowly. A man walked out of the car and the soft moonlight caressed his deviously handsome face.
He wore a tailor-fitted Russian military uniform and had a head full of silver hair. His face looked mysterious and emotionless.
“Young Master Qiao.” Lu Yan’s subordinates were dumbfounded.
“Follow me.” Mr. Qiao simply pulled Lu Yan by the hand. His voice ringed delicately in the night air like music to the ear.
“Psycho Qiao, let me go! I can’t go back with you, I have to go save somebody.”
