Chapter 424: Salary Increase
His mood was quite strange.
“Is something wrong?” Yao Rong furrowed his eyebrows.
As he said this, he slowly moved the entire chessboard to the other side of the table, afraid that the older man would change his mind and slam it back onto the table.
Noticing this, the man grinned. “You act like I’m going to destroy it.”
It wasn’t like he’d ruin his own chessboard!!!
“I’m just being cautious, that’s all.” Yao Rong smiled. “It’s the first gift my daughter has ever given me. It’s only natural that I’ll take care of it.”
At the mention of his daughter, the smile on his face froze.
Yao Tang had snatched his chess set and gave it to him. Seeing as it was his daughter who had given that to Yao Rong, could his daughter be none other than Yao Tangherself?
His frown deepened.
Was he simply overthinking things?
However, he just couldn’t help but find the young woman familiar. Despite only seeing her back, he still felt as if he had seen her before, and then this chess set… “Where did your daughter buy it from?”
“Why? Are you looking to buy one yourself?”
Yao Rong chuckled.
“I asked her about it, and she mentioned buying it from a stall right down the street. It was really cheap, but the quality of this chess set is incredible! She has great taste.”
Wasn’t that what Yao Tang would’ve done if she were in this situation?
Just then, Jiang Wan walked over with a stack of test papers in her hands. The wind blew right past her, and a test paper fell out of her grasp.
Elder Guan looked over and saw that the handwriting was completely different from that of Yao Tang.
And while he couldn’t see the name written down, he caught sight of just one word—Xin.
Was his daughter’s name, Yao Xin?
Then… it really wasn’t Yao Tang!
He sent Yao Tang another message.
“Hey, tell me the truth, did you sell my jade chess piece to an antique market? Are you really that poor?”
“Look,” he added. “If you give me more information, I’ll even give you a raise. What do you say to that?”
However, only after sending the message did he remember that Yao Tang had blocked his number. She obviously wasn’t going to receive the message! He scowled.
Yao Rong sat on the side, puzzled by his change of expression. What was he thinking?
“Is something wrong?”
He slowly returned to his senses and glanced at Yao Rong. “Does anyone in your family talented in medicine?”
If it was really Yao Tang, then they’d know of her medical skills.
How could they not?
Elder Guan observed his every move.
Yao Rong, however, simply furrowed his eyebrows in reply. “No, why? Are you not feeling well?”
Why would he ask a question of the blue?
Elder Guan sighed, waving his hand.
He was probably overthinking things!
“Nothing,” he quickly said. “Why don’t we just play some chess?”
If his daughter was really Yao Tang, then he should know just how talented she was in Chinese medicine. But from the looks of it, he clearly didn’t know much.
His mind was probably playing tricks with him.
..
At No. 1 High School, Class 20.
Yao Tang held a pen in her hand as she wrote on the bond paper. Everyone peered closely to what she was trying to write, frowning in contemplation.
Suddenly, she sneezed, shaking her head. The pencil broke into two and she quickly replaced it with another pencil, unbothered by it.
“Do you understand what I’m writing now?”
The boy immediately shrank back at the sight, looking as if he was about to cry.
Was he that stupid that she’d break her pen in anger?
“I—I understand.”
He looked like he was close to tears.
Yao Tang looked at him strangely. “Do you know what the next step is?”
