It was understandable that she thought that way, but she overestimated them. Most people wouldn't try
to commit any crimes easily, let alone murder.
The call went on until Cindy came home. Aurora wasn't around, and she had no appetite, so she lay
down on the couch and stared at the ceiling. She went through a lot of possibilities. Perhaps Leah had
a conflict with someone and got into a fight during negotiations.
Or perhaps someone killed her for money. She didn't have much, but Bryce did give her some money.
Some people might think none of it, but that sum was generous for most people. Leah was alone and
crippled. She was easy prey, so to speak. It's possible someone killed her for money, Cindy thought.
She lay on the couch until Aurora called. She had just heard of the news and was on her way back.
The cops called her, and she was shocked when she was told that Leah was murdered. She said, "I
couldn't believe it. They could've just taken the money, but murder's too much."
For some reason, Cindy guessed, "Leah was a sucker for money. She probably refused to let go, so
the killer did what they had to do."
Aurora smacked her lips. "She should've just given them the money. Nothing's more important than her
life. If it were me, I'd give them all the money they wanted."
Most people would think so, but when put in that kind of situation, everyone might react differently.
Cindy commented no more on the topic, and Aurora hung up as well. She waited for a moment, and
Aurora came back. When she got the news, she had just finished her work and was wondering if she
should go for lunch with the organizers, but the news made her lose her appetite, and she came back
home.
Cindy was lying on the couch, then she turned around, a small smile tugging on her lips. "Yeah, I lost
my appetite. Didn't even make lunch."
Aurora sat beside Cindy and heaved a long sigh. "Honestly, I hated her, but now that she's dead, I pity
her."
She used to want Leah dead, and the worse her death was, the better. Now that she was really dead,
Aurora thought it was pitiable. Humans were weird. They would want their enemies dead when they
were alive, but when their enemies did die, they would feel pity for them.
They sat on the couch, quiet all the way. Dusk arrived, and Aurora went to the kitchen to make
something. No matter how little appetite they had, they must eat something. To their surprise, someone
came back right after Aurora started cooking.
Cindy paused for a moment and got up, turning to the door to see who it was.
Ian smiled at her. "What's that look you're giving me? Not happy that I'm back?"
Cindy got up and approached Ian and hugged him. "This is so sudden. We haven't even made dinner
yet."
Ian wasn't too hungry. "I had something to eat on the set, so I'm not hungry." He hugged Cindy and
kissed her cheek. "Why haven't you girls eaten anything? It's late."
Cindy hugged him and rubbed her chin on his chest. "I'm not too hungry."
Aurora turned the heat off and stopped cooking. She stood at the kitchen's doorstep. "We should just
get delivery. I don't think anyone would like my cooking."
