Cindy pulled the sheets up and buried herself in it as she sighed.
This might be a good thing. She had been contemplating her resignation for quite some time anyway.
See? Even the heavens are helping me by creating such an opportunity for me.
She and Ian would truly go their separate ways after this issue successfully boiled down.
She would then be able to live her days peacefully without needing to worry about those cyberbullying
trolls online.
Cindy’s thoughts ran wild as she lay in bed, and it didn’t take long for her to gradually drift to sleep.
However, she couldn’t sleep well at all—she was bothered by nightmares the entire night.
The first half of the night, she dreamed that she was arguing with Ian. But this time, they weren’t merely
fighting verbally as they did in real life.
In her dream, their fight started to get violent. And they even started throwing punches.
The second half of the night, she had somewhat an embarrassing dream—she dreamed that she was
being pinned to the bed by Ian as he kissed her aggressively.
In fact, kissing wasn’t the only thing they were doing; their exchange got even steamier with more
physical touch toward the end.
As a result, Cindy woke up abruptly at the crack of dawn.
Her eyes fluttered open in a startle.
The dream was so vivid that it was imprinted in her mind even after she had woken up; it was almost as
if the feeling on her lips was real.
In her dream, Ian was kissing her fiercely and passionately unlike yesterday night, where his lips simply
crashed into hers.
In all honesty, though, she… she kind of liked that feeling.
How shameless.
Cindy got up and washed up and sat quietly in her room.
She didn’t have anything to do, nor did she have anywhere to go.
After sitting around lifelessly for almost half an hour, she suddenly remembered that she hadn’t turned
on her phone since last night.
Thus, she picked up her phone and sluggishly turned it on.
She didn’t have many friends, so her phone wasn’t bursting with notifications even though it was off for
an entire night.
Her phone buzzed twice when it was finally powered on—someone had sent her two text messages.
She glanced at her screen and realized that both of them were from Gary.
For some reason, disappointment filled Cindy’s chest. In truth, she wasn’t actually hoping for Ian to give
her a call or text.
She was indeed reluctant to face the man, but now that there was not even a single notification from
him, she was feeling a little unhappy nonetheless.
She tapped into the message from Gary, but it was nothing more than some words of comfort.
In his texts, Gary even told her to console Ian, and to tell him not to overthink things.
When she put the two of them together, Ian now seemed even more of a petty person to Cindy.
The text messages were sent yesterday night. Since she hadn’t replied to him all night, there wasn’t a
need to do so anymore.
Cindy tossed her phone aside, got up, and went to stand by the window.
It was still early and there weren’t many people on the streets.
She turned around just after peering out for a moment, put on a jacket, and left the hotel.
Although she had nowhere to go, she didn’t want to lock herself up in the room either.
As she strolled down the streets, she found herself without any appetite at all. Perhaps she had eaten
too much last night when she had dinner with Gary, or maybe she still hadn’t recovered emotionally
from the recent happenings.
Despite walking past a few shops that served breakfast, she didn’t stop in front of any.
Just then, the ringing of her phone in her pocket finally managed to snap her back to reality.
Cindy reached into her pocket for her phone and glanced at the caller ID. To her surprise, it was
Aurora.
Because of the matter with Ian, she didn’t really feel like picking up the call, but she didn’t want to be
rude for ignoring a call from an elder either.
Since she had already calmed down from the initial stage of anger from yesterday, Cindy swiftly
answered the call after giving herself two seconds to breathe.
Aurora probably already knew about the fight between Cindy and Ian. She asked the moment the call
got through, “Cindy? Where are you right now?”
Cindy hesitated before saying, “What’s the matter? I’m outside.”
Aurora sighed. “Did something happen between you and Ian yesterday? I wanted to come over to have
breakfast early this morning, but Ian was sitting alone on the sofa when I went in, looking awfully sad
and miserable. I only found out that you two had a fight after asking him.”
Cindy pursed her lips, not knowing what to say.
Having a fight naturally wasn’t something to be proud of. The fact that Aurora had found out about it
made her feel quite embarrassed.
Aurora continued on, “Ian has such a bad temper that I don’t know what to do with him sometimes.
He’s my son, so I know him well. He didn’t tell me anything even after I asked him about it all morning,
so that’s why I came to you. If it’s nothing serious that violates any sort of personal principle, just
forgive him, will you? Can’t you do that for my sake?”
