In fact, Ian knew he said the wrong thing the moment those words left his mouth.
Just as he expected, Cindy’s body tensed up. Then, she stood up straight.
Ian wanted to try and salvage the situation, but what came out of his mouth was more scathing than
what he intended. “Didn’t you say that you called him? Get him to come up here. I’ll see if he has the
guts to do that.”
Cindy breathed in and out deeply. Every scrap of those floaty, blissful feelings dissipated. She didn’t
want to so much as say a word to Ian. Once her emotions had settled, she quickly turned and headed
into the living room.
Ian relaxed a little, thinking that Cindy had decided to stay instead. However, Cindy had only gone to
the living room to pick up the luggage that Ian had just tossed there. This time, she didn’t even look at
him as she dragged her luggage over to the door.
Ian reflexively grabbed her by the arm. “You’re still leaving?”
Cindy shook him off with a powerful shake. “Out of my way.”
As far as she could remember, this was the first time she scolded someone. It was clear that she was
furious.
Ian froze, unable to make a sound after that.
Cindy leaned over to open the door before leaving the apartment with her luggage in tow.
Ian reflexively followed her over to the door, but then he stopped in his tracks.
What should I say to her even if I followed her? And what can I do? The situation is already beyond
saving.
Ian heard the elevator doors open. A few moments later, they shut. He knew that Cindy had already
left.
Cindy stood inside the elevator, shaking uncontrollably. She had no idea whether she was shaking from
anger or fear. Her lips still had the lingering sensation of Ian’s lips from their kiss earlier. He did it. He
actually had the guts to do it.
Cindy left the residential area and flagged down a taxi before looking up hotels nearby. As she sat
inside the taxi, she looked out of the window. Her heart was still pounding madly.
A few minutes into her taxi ride, however, the driver suddenly spoke up. “Are you okay, young lady? Did
someone hurt you?”
Cindy was taken aback for a second. “N-No, I’m fine.”
The taxi driver let out a sigh before pulling out a pack of tissue paper from the glove box to his side and
passed it to Cindy. It was then that Cindy realized she had begun crying at some point. She might be
timid, but she wasn’t weak. Back then, even when she was being bullied, she had never shed a tear.
Cindy accepted the offered tissue paper and thanked the driver. Then, with somewhat stiff movements,
she pulled out a sheet of tissue paper and wiped her tears.
In truth, she couldn’t quite figure out why she was crying. What’s there to cry about? It’s just a fight.
Yes, I got a little angry, but that’s all. It’s not like I was hurt or anything.
She had only shed a few tears, so they were gone with just a few wipes. Cindy sniffled and decided to
just look out of the window. “Ian, you jerk,” she whispered.
The taxi came to a stop outside a hotel. The driver came over to help unload her luggage from his taxi,
and he also gave her some advice. “Chin up, miss. There’s plenty of other fish in the sea.”
Cindy also knew that she currently looked like she had left in a fit of frustration after arguing with her
boyfriend. She nodded. “Got it. Thank you.”
With that, she turned and walked into the hotel.
Cindy chose a standard room when she made her booking. To be honest, she felt a little heartache at
her first time spending her own money for her hotel stay.
She might be angry, but she also valued her money.
Cindy’s face itched a little when she was walking to the elevator after she collected her key card. When
she lifted a hand and touched her face, she realized that, for some reason, her tears had begun flowing
again.
She was deeply irritated by this, unable to understand what was going on with her. Is this worth crying
over? I don’t get it. I was never such a fragile person.
When she got to her hotel room, Cindy set her luggage aside and tumbled right onto the bed. Her mind
was buzzing, and her body felt limp. It was just a fight, and it was just a kiss from Ian, but it felt like all
the strength in her body had been sapped away.
Her phone started ringing right then from where she had stowed it in her bag. Cindy didn’t want to
answer her phone, regardless of the caller.
After a while, she got up and went to the bathroom to take a shower.
