“It already sounds painful just by listening to you describing it. If I were you, I would also want someone
to be with me during the extraction process,” Genevieve said.
The two women continued chatting away for the rest of the journey.
When the car was almost reaching Twilight Tower, Renee looked at Genevieve's side profile and could
not help but ask, “Genevieve, do you have a picture of your mom from when she was a child?”
“Why do you ask?” Genevieve was puzzled.
After a brief moment of hesitation, Renee decided to tell her the truth. “When I first saw you at my
house back then, I had already noticed that you look very much like my aunt. As you know, my aunt
has gone missing since she was six.”
“Ah,” Genevieve exclaimed. After a long moment of silence, she finally returned to her senses and
replied, “Maybe we just look alike, and there's nothing more to that...”
“No.” Renee shook her head before replying, “Not only do you resemble my aunt, I always get a
strange feeling when I see you. My gut feeling tells me that it is related to my aunt. I did share my
suspicions with Yuvan a while back, but he told me not to continue looking into the matter. However, I
got the same strange feeling when I saw you again this time.”
Renee paused and showed Genevieve a picture saved on her phone. “This was taken when my aunt
was six. You should try and find some of your mom's childhood photos....”
Previously, Genevieve had come across a photo album containing pictures of Herbert's second
daughter, and one of them was identical to the one Renee had.
Soon, the car was parked outside of Twilight Tower.
Before Genevieve got out of the car, Renee said, “If your mom does not look like the person in the
photo, that would mean that I've guessed wrongly. However, I am quite certain that your mom is my
aunt.”
“Sure,” Genevieve nodded and continued, “I'll let you know when I find my mom's photo.”
Genevieve's grandparents used to stay in the southern district, where her mother had grown up.
Subsequently, the family moved to live in the city, but most of her mother's belongings from childhood
remained in their old house in the southern district.
Genevieve had never been to the old house, and neither had she seen her mother's childhood photos.
Before she entered the building, she looked at the picture of the little girl which Renee had sent her and
recalled Landon telling her the same thing as what Renee had told her.
Is it really possible for two completely unrelated people to resemble each other so much?
The elevator door opened on the floor where the production company was. However, Genevieve closed
the door at once and pressed the button to the first floor. She hurried out of the elevator when she
reached the lobby and made a call.
“Ms. Rachford,” Bertilla answered after just one ring.
“Go to my brother's office now and check his computer to see if there are any photos of me from when I
was a child. Also, send me the address of my grandparents' old house in the southern district.”
Genevieve spoke quickly.
“Understood.” Bertilla worked on it right after the call ended.
Genevieve texted Steven to inform him to keep an eye on what was going on at the police station.
When Genevieve was in a cab on the way to the southern district, she received a message from
Bertilla, containing her childhood photos and the exact address of her grandparents' old house.
Genevieve compared her photos with the one Renee had sent her immediately and noticed that she
did not resemble the little girl in the picture.
Her beauty was mostly inherited from her mother. If she was really the daughter of Herbert's second
daughter, by right, there should be some resemblance between both of them.
At that thought, Genevieve's urge to find out the truth subsided.
Although she was quite sure that they were simply two unrelated people who looked like each other,
since she was already on her way to the southern district, Genevieve decided that there was no harm
in going there to take a look.
Half an hour later, the cab arrived at the address of the old house. After getting out of the cab,
Genevieve spotted an old bungalow which was built in retro style from a distance.
She stood at the door for a while, and just when she was about to text Bertilla to ask her if the old
house was currently occupied, a middle-aged woman who was carrying groceries walked over.
