Having run into Stefan when she entered, then being brought to the table where his sister was,
Genevieve had no time to speak with the other guests.
Her gaze swept the tables on both sides of the aisle as she walked behind Stefan, and she quickly
noticed the large, familiar frame seated at a table on the left side of the stage.
The table was packed with occupants—all men of uncommon status.
A middle-aged man, who had more white in his hair than black, sat on Armand's left. He was unsmiling
to the point of appearing stern, and his lips moved while Armand listened with his head bowed.
Genevieve scrutinized him from head to toe.
Given that he can sit on the chair and raise his glass, nothing's wrong with him physically. By the looks
of it, there should be nothing wrong with his brain, too. Since he seems alive and well, why did he
disappear for such a long time?
Harry turned around and saw that Genevieve had stopped, though he did not know what she was
looking at despite glancing around him. “What's wrong, Genevieve?”
“Nothing.” She suppressed the anger within her and returned to her seat at Stefan's table.
During her meal, Genevieve glanced furtively toward the table on the left side of the stage and watched
Armand's every move.
He doesn't seem to notice that I'm here.
Not long after, she watched as Sally, seated on the right side of the table, rise and walked toward
Armand. She placed her arm on the back of his chair as she bent over to speak to him.
Despite Sally's haughty and cold demeanor toward everybody else, she did away with her frostiness
when she arrived before Armand. Instead, she expressed herself vivaciously during her conversation
with him.
An attendant wanted to refill Armand's glass, but Sally covered his glass with her hand and spoke
sharply to the attendant, who then took the bottle of wine away.
Sally's long hair draped over his shoulder when she bent down to speak to Armand. She even wiped
the wine stains from the corner of his lips with her thumb. Armand did not display any displeasure.
Instead, he allowed her to do as she pleased.
Genevieve clutched her glass at that sight, imagining it to be Armand's throat.
Worried sick for months, she had been thinking of him constantly and even searched for him. How dare
this b*stard behave this intimately with another woman? He might as well be kissing her in public!
“I saw somebody familiar,” Genevieve said to Stefan after rearranging her expression. “Could you bring
me over, Mr. Loake?”
Stefan stood up. “Sure. Which table?”
Not long after, she watched as Sally, seated on the right side of the table, rise and walked toward
Armand. She placed her arm on the back of his chair as she bent over to speak to him.
With Stefan in the lead, Genevieve arrived at Armand's table with a glass of red wine. Sally's hand was
still on the back of his chair as she spoke to him.
Armand seemed to have sensed something as he looked up, coincidentally meeting Genevieve's eyes.
She thought he would be shocked or frightened to see her there. To her surprise, though, he placidly
looked away after a mere glance at her.
“It's been a long time, Mr. Faulkner.” Genevieve walked up to both of them. “You still go by Faulkner,
right?” she asked after a pause.
“Hmm.” Armand pushed his chair away, standing up to clink his glass against hers.
Sally straightened herself as she could no longer lean on him, though her hand found its way to his
arm. “Do you know Ms. Rachford, Armand?”
“I do. She's my ex-wife. We got divorced several years ago,” Armand said to her gently.
Sally turned to regard Genevieve when she heard those words.
She did not notice Genevieve when the latter was presenting her gift earlier. Upon a closer look at
Genevieve and discovering that they had divorced some years ago, in addition to Armand's
unperturbed expression, Sally did not mind that much.
Genevieve, on the other hand, became livid at Armand's attitude and words.
