Chapter 796
Initially, Cooper had assumed that Armand was tying up loose ends from faking his death. Little did he expect the
latter to vanish without anyone's knowledge.
In spite of Cooper's intelligence, it was still impossible for him to figure out Armand's intentions without any clues.
As a look of disappointment descended upon Genevieve's face, she pondered a moment before suddenly asking,
“Do you think that Jack might have set a trap for Mando when he invited the latter out?”
“No.” Sensing Genevieve's pessimism, Cooper reassured her, “Armand is a lot smarter than you give him credit
for.”
After Cooper learned that Armand faked his death and was close to the Pann family, he realized that Armand wasn't
just smart but was also extremely resourcefill to the extent few could rival him.
Subsequently, Cooper brought Genevieve to Johanna's house to see the children.
To keep up the charade, he even purchased gifts from a shop that sold goods from all over the world for Genevieve
to bring back to the children.

Meanwhile, Mandy was in the living room, entertaining Asel with a soft toy in her hand.
The adorable Asel was already capable of crawling on the carpet. When she saw the toy in Amanda's hand, she
scrambled forward with her eyes gleaming with excitement.
As for Lucian, he was sitting on the couch, surfing on his tablet.
At that moment, the nanny led both of them to the living room and called out to Amanda gleefully, “Mandy, look
who's here?”
She had hardly seen Genevieve when she stuffed the toy at Asel and charged toward her mother like a bullet
before hugging the latter's leg.
“Mommy!”
Genevieve bent forward to pick her up. Looking at Amanda's pinking cheeks, she could feel all the sorrow and
exhaustion within her gradually melt away.
“I've missed you so much.” Genevieve offered up her cheek. “Quick, give me a kiss.”
Hugging Genevieve, Amanda peppered the former with kisses.
Upon the last kiss, she looked behind Genevieve, seemingly in search of someone. When she failed to do so, she
inquired, “Mommy, why isn't Daddy here?”

“Daddy...” Genevieve's eyes glistened. “He's still stuck overseas working.”
As the vibrant smile quickly faded away from her adorable face, Amanda grumbled, “Daddy promised to take me
camping on the grassy plains where we can go hiking together, but he hasn't kept his promise by going away for so
long.”
She could faintly remember waking up that fateful morning to be kissed by her father. He had vowed to spend time
with her upon his return but ended up being bogged down by work.
Cooper, who was standing beside them, scratched Amanda's nose and pacified her, “Mandy, didn't you have your
eye on that princess castle? Since it's really expensive, your daddy has to work hard so that he can afford it.”
“I-In that case, I don't want it anymore.” Amanda pouted grumpily. “I just want Daddy back by my side. It's been so
long since I last saw him.”
The words triggered a sense of bitterness in Genevieve's heart.
Suppressing the anguish within her, Genevieve added, “Daddy loves you the most and will buy you anything that
you fancy. So, while we patiently wait for Daddy, I'll take both of you camping tomorrow. How about that?”

With her arms wrapped around Genevieve's neck, Amanda asked with anticipation, “In that case, will Daddy be
back in time for our birthdays?”
Oh my, the children's fifth birthday is just around the corner.
“That goes without saying!” Genevieve cracked a faint smile. “Other than Daddy, Uncle Cooper, Aunt Jojo, and
Uncle Tim will be celebrating Lucian and your birthday together. I guarantee that it will be a grand affair!”
After receiving Genevieve's reassurance, Amanda, whose vibrant smile had returned, slid down the former's body
and ran off to play with Asel.
Subsequently, Genevieve noticed her son staring intently at her. Cognizant that he was unconvinced by her words,
she let out a siglt before going over to tousle his hair.
“Believe me, Daddy will be home on your birthday.”
Lucian responded with a solemn grunt.
In the meantime, Johanna, who was busy in the greenhouse until eleven, only noticed Genevieve and Cooper's
presence upon returning to the living room. Surprised and delighted by their visit, she questioned the housekeeper
as to why she wasn't informed earlier.
Genevieve teased, “I'm just here to have lunch at my daughter-in-law's home. There's no need to be a stranger.”
Hearing that, Lucian was stumped.
Does my opinion not matter here?
