Chapter 1881: She Did Not Lose That Badly
Ji Ziming looked at Pei Ge as he bent his uninjured right leg. His actions were gentle and gentlemanly, and every action he made was clearly gentlemanly in Pei Ge’s heart.
“So, you’re helping me on purpose. With your status, you don’t have to do this if you want to deal with Old lady Qu, but you…”
Pei Ge could not say it. All of Ji Ziming’s goodness was slowly magnifying. This man was devoted to her with all of his patience and gentleness. He might seem aloof and unapproachable to other but Pei Ge knew what was hidden in his heart.
No one else knew about his past or his pain, but she did.
“Ge Ge, as long as you believe that I will always love you, that is enough.”
Ji Ziming narrowed his eyes as he could only see Pei Ge’s figure. Her smooth and tender face became more and more blurry in his vision. Perhaps it was because he had taken the medicine and now was the time for the medicine to take effect.
His vision became blurry.
“Ziming, what’s wrong with you?”
Pei Ge was about to say something when she saw that Ji Ziming had closed his eyes. His bent right leg was still standing upright and his butterfly-like eyelashes were still under his eyelids.
Ji Ziming, who was in deep sleep, made her feel at ease.
Perhaps, she had seen too much of Ji Ziming’s cold and rational way of handling things, but she found it rare to see him so relaxed.
“Good night, then. I love you.”
The last three words were said very softly. Other than Pei Ge herself, even the sleeping Ji Ziming could not hear it.
“I love you.”
She repeated this in her heart. Ji Ziming’s eyelashes suddenly fluttered as he turned around and hugged her waist before falling asleep again.
The moonlight was quiet in the middle of the night. It peeked at the two people in the room from the outside. There was no passion or love. They were just sleeping peacefully. It seemed to be the most peaceful moment in their lives.
However, in another place in the capital, there was a woman who could not fall asleep no matter what. She looked at her daughter beside her and tossed and turned repeatedly. In her dreams, she was always in such a scary and sad situation. No matter how hard she tried, she could not return to how she was in the beginning. No matter how hard she tried, she could not return to the original point she wanted to return to.
Once some people were far away from each other, they would truly be at the ends of the earth. When they saw each other, they would act like strangers.
Tang Xiaoyu did not know if Gu Zhengrong wanted to be a stranger or not. The way she looked at her daughter resembled that of the man she loved, but that man did not have a place for her in his heart.
Was there a need to persist in this kind of love? Guarding a man who did not love her, guarding a man whom she was originally full of expectations for. Reality gave her a resounding slap.
It was not that Tang Xiaoyu did not know that Gu Zhengrong liked Pei Ge, just like how she loved Gu Zhengrong. However, guarding a hopeless lover was too painful, so painful that Tang Xiaoyu did not dare to recall it.
However, in the dream, it was all the shadows left behind after that night of passion.
The torn clothes, the messy room, and the draft box were filled with unanswered messages.
They were both silently telling Tang Xiaoyu that she could not love this man even if she loved him. Perhaps, when the two of them could not be together, one wanted to escape while the other wanted to pursue her.
It was just a type of courage where she refused to accept that it was impossible for the two of them that lasted them through. It was merely a joke made by adults. It was just that their fate had not yet arrived, or perhaps they were not fated at all.
It was just an ill-fated relationship, but Tang Xiaoyu cared so much that she could not sleep at night.
“Daughter, what do you think mommy should do? Should I tell your daddy that you exist? Should I tell him that I still love him? I left him out of spite. Baby, do you know that your daddy went to look for mommy before mommy left?”
She suddenly imagined the scene of Gu Zhengrong looking for her. No matter how she thought about it, Gu Zhengrong was always nervous and worried about her. Perhaps it was her fault for giving him that cup of coffee, but after she left, Gu Zhengrong was able to look for everyone around her to ask about her whereabouts. Thinking about it this way, this love affair did not seem so painful and unbearable.
She did not seem to have lost that badly.
However, no one knew if this was all Tang Xiaoyu’s imagination or if it was not what Gu Zhengrong wanted to do. Just the thought of it made Tang Xiaoyu’s heart bloom.
It grew bigger and bigger in her lonely sky. It was so big that it could hold up all her fantasies about Gu Zhengrong. It was so big that every desire she wanted to conquer was within her control.
It was so big that she almost believed that she and Gu Zhengrong could be together again because of this baby. Gu Zhengrong did not fall in love with Pei Ge, and Tang Xiaoyu would not fall in love with him to this extent.
“Baby, what do you think Mommy should do? Should I contact your daddy or not? Do you know that your daddy is a very smart and capable person? Mommy has never despised your daddy’s family background. Mommy has always cared about your daddy’s talent. Mommy cares about your daddy.”
“It has nothing to do with others. In my eyes, you are unique, so no matter what you do, you will not make any mistakes.
“But your daddy doesn’t love mommy. The person your daddy loves has always been mommy’s good friend. Baby, do you know that mommy’s good friend is a very powerful woman? She relied on herself to get to the best position in America’s dangerous environment. When she returned to the country, she even met the most correct person in her life. Mommy is really happy for her. Baby, for you, mommy has to work hard too. Mommy also has to give you a good future. What mommy wants to give you is something no one else can give you. Without your daddy, mommy will bring you along and grow up with you, okay? Mommy will bring you to places that other children can’t see and experience the world and beauty that other children can’t.”
Tang Xiaoyu continued.
