Chapter 1588: No Cure

Joe stood straighter. He looked at the couple, who was in disbelief, and said softly, “There are two types of hypnosis: one is the type used for treatment and the other is the type to control someone. The latter results in conceiving consciousness toward someone that does not belong to them to achieve a certain goal. Unfortunately, your son is under the second type.”
He had a sad look. He himself was unwilling to believe that someone could stomach hypnotizing an innocent child.
“Then, is there a way to cure him from it?”
Pei Ge fell into grief yet did not forget to find ways to cure her son.
“Usually, there is no cure for hypnosis. We can only let him come in for treatment for a time. If he can’t recover through that, then there’s no other method. Logically, a person hypnotized recovers through their willpower or those people around them. Only by this can his memories be recovered. I want him to stay in the hospital to jolt his actual memories through scientific methods, but this can’t be considered proper treatment. At most, it will have a supplementary effect, so you guys have to be mentally prepared.”
He looked at the couple in front of him with sorrow.
“It is not possible for him to stay with you, but we can bring him here every day.”
For the sake of the boy recovering his memories, Pei Ge was willing to invest everything, including her patience, love, and emotions.
“That is fine, too. I will oversee his treatment when you bring him here. It will be for a week. Once the week is up, you can bring him back home. It will be helpful to talk to him about the past as well.”
He spoke patiently, advising the woman on things she must take note of while taking care of her son at home.
Even when Ji Ziming exerted strength in hugging her, she did not feel it as she was absorbed in the conversation.
“Hey, did you hear what I said, too? Your son’s hypnosis is not normal, and you two will have to work together to recover his memories and real feelings. Still, it is a good sign that he is slowly starting to accept his mother.”
Joe turned to look at the man calmly and spoke with the professionalism of a doctor. “Actually, you don’t need to worry. He will get better eventually. From what I can see, even if I do not give him this supplementary treatment, he will still recover. Madam, let’s set a time. Your son’s treatment will be once every three days. Three days later, you can bring him back to China and do what you must.”
“Alright, I understand. Thank you. I will bring my son here for treatment starting tomorrow.”
Pei Ge’s eyes twinkled as she raised her head to look at Ji Ziming, choking, “Shall we bring him over starting tomorrow?”
The latter eyed the doctor with his cool eyes and asked, “What will happen if we don’t do this treatment?”
“Nothing will happen without the treatment. The treatment I mentioned is only a way to improve his condition fast.”
Joe found it funny that this man had clearly heard none of what they had just said. All the other’s attention was on his woman even when he showed no interest in her.
“Do you want to make our son come over for it?”
The man looked down at Pei Ge, taking in her small stature.
“Mhm.”
The woman nodded. The eyes she looked at him turned deep.
Joe watched the two behave affectionately to each other, seemingly having forgotten the important matter at hand.
“Then, are you guys still bringing him to the hospital? If you don’t plan to do so, I will take the earliest flight back to England tonight. I don’t want to stay here.”
“You’d better stay here!” growled Ji Ziming in a low voice, his gaze turning cold as he regarded the doctor. “Three days it shall be. Afterward, I will bring them back home.”
The other was startled by his sudden growl, not expecting him to say such.
“Okay.”
He could only reply to this one word.
After arranging a time, the couple brought the three children back to Zhang Manhua’s place. The moment the door was opened, Ran Ran hurriedly darted inside. “Grandma, grandma, are my tea-flavored eggs done?”
“They’re done; they’re done. Aiyo, slower! My baby girl, come here; I’ve just finished peeling all of them for you.”
Her grandmother was sitting on the sofa in the living room with a remote in hand as she watched TV. When she heard the door opening, she turned and was surprised to see her granddaughter running over. She quickly held the little girl and pointed at the few tea-flavored eggs which had been peeled on the table.
“Thank you, grandma! They look so yummy!”
Ran Ran reached for a tissue to wipe her hands, then immediately grabbed an egg from the plate, and chomped on it. As she had been chewing too fast, she almost choked. Her grandmother quickly gave her some water and lightly patted her back. “Aiyo, my precious girl, why are you in such a hurry? There are more in the pot. I can cook more for you if these are not enough.”
The girl coughed for some time before finally swallowing the eggs.
“Grandma, I’m eating so fast only because your cooking is delicious.”
The older woman’s eyes curled into crescents when she heard this, and the smile gracing her lips became the sweetest it had been in these past few years.
“My precious baby girl, eat slowly. If these are not enough, grandma will cook for you again tomorrow. There will be as many as you want, okay?”
“Okay! Thank you, grandma!”
The girl excitedly nodded. When An An returned from washing his hands in the kitchen, he spotted his sister eating fast as though afraid that he and Ji Chi would steal her food.
“Hmph! Big brother, second brother, you guys can’t steal my food. Grandma made all this for me.”
Ran Ran lightly harrumphed, hugging the plate on the table. She was as cute as a little chick guarding its food, making Zhang Manhua’s heart burst with joy and happiness.
“Don’t quarrel over it. I of course made some for you boys as well. This plate is for my little girl, but you two can go in the kitchen to look. Didn’t grandma say that there are still some in the kitchen?”
Pei Ge stood at the door and took off her high heels with the support of the wall. She gently gathered her hair into a neat ponytail. When she walked up and saw her daughter refusing to put down her plate, she could not help but say out of amusement, “Daughter, quickly put the plate down. Your brothers have already gone into the kitchen to take theirs.”
