Chapter 1255: Either way, my children are not yours!
Once dinner ended, Egger intended to stay on longer but had to leave upon receiving a call.
It was obvious to everyone that he did not wish to leave but the call was apparently important.
As such, Pei Ge, who wanted to discuss the matter with Egger after dinner, could only postpone it.
“Ge Ge, there is work I have to settle. I’ll return tonight.”
He did not forget to put on a show in front of the man before leaving.
Unfortunately, she was truly tired of putting up a pretense and did not respond to the man but just bid him goodbye.
The latter knew her well enough to know that she was truly mad this time from her reaction.
Still, he could not stay behind to talk to her.
He could only shoot the other man an indignant glare before helplessly leaving her apartment.
The cold smirk on Ji Ziming’s face went unnoticed at the guy’s departure.
Pak!
Pei Ge closed the door, and when she turned around, she realized that he was standing close to her.
She almost knocked into him.
“Why are you still here?”
She took a few steps back and kept a distance from him.
“You’re lying. You and that guy don’t have any relationship.”
Seeing her retreat, the man merely took a step closer while he gazed at her earnestly.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s getting late now; you and your son should head back—”
Before she could finish speaking, he trapped her in his arms.
He trapped her between him and the wall.
Lowering his head as he gazed at this cheating woman, he said gently, “I sent people to investigate your background in New York. You and that guy aren’t married and you don’t even have a husband.”
He sounded unperturbed, yet happiness could still be perceived from his voice.
He had just received this news.
Of course, this news did not come from his investigation.
It was a coincidence that he had a friend working on Wall Street, and this friend happened to have business dealings with the Queen before. As a result, he came to know that this woman was still single.
“Why did you lie to me?”
He lowered his body and softly spoke right into her ear with those thin lips of his.
Pound!
Pei Ge’s heart thumped wildly at his question, and his next words brought her heart an even greater shock.
“Since you don’t have a husband, I’m curious on where are your children from?”
The man’s eyes remained fixed on her as he arched a brow.
After discovering that Egger was not her husband, he kept thinking whose children were Pei Ge’s two kids…
Were they adopted or… biological?
“Either way, they’re not yours!” she blurted out.
She could not afford to let this man know that the children were his! He had a fiancée now and his parents would not let her marry him!
If they found out that the children were his, they might snatch kids from her!
No way she could let that happen. Therefore, he must not find out that the children were his!
Balling her hands into fists, she started back at him without flinching.
His face darkened when he saw her shooting daggers at him.
“Of course, I know that they’re not mine.” He gritted his teeth.
“It’s good that you know.”
She tried pushing him away, but he was too strong, so her effort was in vain.
Instead, she continued to be trapped by him.
“I’ve said it before; I don’t care whose children they are. I’ll treat them as if they’re mine.”
Ji Ziming gripped her shoulders tightly, sounding unyielding.
These words did not have any effect on her, though.
“I’ve said it before, too; I’ll only consider it if your parents agree to you marrying me.”
She smiled at him softly.
Her voice sounded so… indifferent and cold to his ears…
“Don’t force me…”
He was filled with coldness at that.
“What? Are you planning to lock me up again?”
She smiled tauntingly at him.
“I really don’t wanna have entanglement with you again. Once I’m done with my matters here, I’ll head back to New York.”
“No way! I won’t let you leave my side again!”
“What right do you have to forbid me?!”
“That’s because I’m your husband!”
“He he! Husband! Which husband would sleep with another woman when he was about to get married?”
“…I’ve explained it before; that’s an accident.”
“Accident? If that were so, why did your child—”
Before she could finish speaking, she heard her son’s voice rang about.
“Mommy, what are you and uncle talking about?”
The children appeared in the corner of the room and looked at the two adults curiously.
For a split second, anxiety flashed across her face.
Seeing Ji Chi’s childish face, she suddenly regretted her nearly impulsive retort!
In her irrationality, she had almost brought up the topic about this boy.
Regardless of Qiao Jingyun’s wrongdoings, she should not… involve the child. After all, he was an innocent life in all these.
Her son luckily interrupted her. Otherwise…
She bit her lower lip lightly and shot the man a glare before pushing him away and walking toward the trio.
“Mommy, are you fighting with uncle?”
Her daughter blinked at her.
“No, no. I wasn’t. We were just a little loud while we were talking.”
She squatted and gently rubbed her head.
“Really?”
The girl blinked her big, black eyes again before shifting them on to the man.
“Mhm. We weren’t quarreling.”
He walked to the little girl and embraced her.
“Your mother and I are on good terms.”
