Chapter 1754: Fine, I’ll do it; Move aside
The more Qu Xiujie insisted on Mao Nana wearing long pants, the more she wanted him to know how persistent she was. She also wanted him to know that her long legs were unique and had their own characteristics in this world.
After all, this pair of long legs was her trademark.
Mao Nana just did not expect to find Qu Xiujie’s address in the capital so quickly after resigning from R City. She had previously acknowledged Zhang Manhua as Qu Xiujie’s wife and now that she knew of their relationship, she was very obedient and almost made Zhang Manhua’s heart sweet.
The more Zhang Manhua looked at her, the more she liked her. How could she not like such a girl?
“Can you not stand at the door and make sarcastic remarks? If you have the ability, come over and give it a try. See if this handmade noodle is really as simple as you say. If you can pull noodles like Sister Manhua’s, I’ll believe you.”
Mao Nana shot a glance at Qu Xiujie and retorted.
“Isn’t it just handmade noodles? What’s so hard about it? Fine, I’ll do it. Move aside.”
Qu Xiujie was originally standing at the kitchen door with his arms crossed. When he heard Mao Nana’s words, he walked straight into the kitchen. Zhang Manhua, who was standing beside her, smiled at the two of them.
While Mao Nana was staying in the house, Qu Xiujie and her were always quarreling. Although the house was always in a foul mood, it made Zhang Manhua feel at ease. This was how a family should be.
It might be noisy and chaotic, but it was the best.
“Put on the apron properly. I’ll show you the noodles. See if my noodles are better than yours…”
Qu Xiujie made it sound very good. However, it was a pity that his noodles could not even hold a candle to Mao Nana’s in the end; let alone show off in front of her.
“I say, aren’t you embarrassed now? You can’t even compare to half of Nana’s, so how are you going to compete with her?”
Zhang Manhua smiled as she watched Qu Xiujie imitate her, only to end up in a mess. The noodles were not even separated and it was just hilarious.
“Sis, you’re wrong. How is this not noodles? Look, these are all noodle strands.”
Qu Xiujie plucked some noodles and shook it in front of Zhang Manhua. “Sister, look. Isn’t this a strand?”
“Don’t pester me endlessly. You… Everyone says that Nana is following you. Look at you now; I think it’s you who’s been following her.”
Zhang Manhua sniggered. The fine lines at the corner of her eyes were only slightly visible, and it was clear that she had taken good care of them.
“That’s right. Sister Manhua is right. You are my teacher now. You will follow me wherever I go.”
Mao Nana was very happy to see someone standing on the same path as her. Staying in the house for the past few days, she had Zhang Manhua’s support; otherwise, her days here would not have been easy.
When she had nothing to do, she would even quarrel with Qu Xiujie. Even Mao Nana herself did not expect that she would develop so quickly after coming to the capital. Although she did not have any career development, Qu Xiujie and her were blissful.
“In my opinion, Sister, you shouldn’t have let her stay. Why do you want to stay? You’re always bickering with me, fighting for food with me, and even snatching my room. You’re a girl; why do you always stay in other people’s houses? I’m an uncle; how am I your type?”
Qu Xiujie was very arrogant and spoke without thinking.
Mao Nana’s heart ached when she heard Qu Xiujie mention her family. She also wanted to know where her family was but she had yet to see them. The more this was the case, the more she did not want to believe that everything was real but they all happened to her.
Mao Nana looked aggrieved and her fair skin looked hydrated.
“What’s wrong? Are you mute? Don’t you usually squabble with me? What’s wrong? You can’t squabble now?”
Qu Xiujie’s voice was rough as he looked askance at Mao Nana. However, when he saw the tears in her eyes, he realized that he had done something wrong.
Zhang Manhua immediately realized that something was wrong with Mao Nana. She pulled Qu Xiujie behind her and patted her on the shoulder. “Nana, don’t be afraid. This Xiujie is just not reliable with his words. Don’t be sad. I’m here. He won’t bully you. I’ll help you take revenge. Don’t cry. If you really cry, I won’t know what to do.”
Zhang Manhua looked at the tears at the corner of her eyes and was at a loss. No matter what, it was Qu Xiujie’s fault that he caused Mao Nana to be upset.
After staying in the house for so many days, Mao Nana had never once mentioned who her family was or where she came from. Luckily, Zhang Manhua was not calculative about this. She was a kind-hearted person and now that she had a girl whom she could get along well with, she treasured her even more. She wanted Qu Xiujie to treat Mao Nana well and wanted to keep her at her side.
Even if it was just giving her a simple job, it was enough as long as she could stay by her side.
“Sister Manhua, I don’t feel wronged. It’s my fault. I didn’t tell you about my family when I came to your house. I’m an orphan and grew up in an orphanage. I don’t know who my parents are, so I can’t tell you what you want to know.”
Mao Nana raised her head and her beautiful almond-shaped eyes were filled with tears. She looked at Qu Xiujie gently as she knew that if she were to reveal this secret, she would suffer a lot of disdain. She hoped that Qu Xiujie would keep her but she was also conflicted about what she should do if he kept her and treated her as a sister or a little girl.
“I see. It’s fine. You have us. We’ll be a family from now on.”
Zhang Manhua’s heart ached for Mao Nana. Such a fine girl actually had such a pitiful background. She did not expect this girl’s heart to be so heartbreaking.
“Sister Manhua, do you think I’m purposely hiding this from you?”
Mao Nana closed her almond-shaped eyes slightly as two streams of tears rolled down her cheeks.
