Chapter 897: Lu Xuan’s Trump Card; Everyone Was Stupefied
A ferocious beast, large as a mountain, had emerged out of thin air. As soon as it had shown itself, Long Feihua’s flames had disappeared.
Many knew about his flames—although it had been long since Long Feihua had made a move, they could still picture him clearly as he cast his Fire Magic, mighty as he was in their memories. His flames were almost invincible—not many in the world could have gone mano a mano against him.
Yet, the moment the Jiao Dragon had appeared, his flames had disappeared before it could even reach it, vanishing into the blue.
The dragon was enormous, intimidating. As it surfaced, the pressure in the air had intensified. It had crushed the chests of the many elites at the scene as they gasped for air. It was the same kind of feeling they had experienced earlier when they had faced Long Feihua.
Lin Ziyi hopped up from her throne, lifting her head as she stared at the dragon in the sky—as the overawing effect of the dragon had continued to immobilize the many Cultivators of the Consolidation Realm, she, too, was put out of action. It was like time had frozen.
The dragon was one of the Summit creatures of the Consolidation Realm. As it exuded an air of magnificence, she could tell it was not inferior to Long Feihua.
As far as she knew, there were only three of them: one from the Northern Demonic region, one from the human race, and one from the Jiao Dragon Palace, keeping each other in balance.
Yet, her first reaction towards the sudden emergence of this Jiao Dragon right here was—it came from the Jiao Dragon Palace. And everyone knew that they were a species rare in number, and the strongest of them all was the king and the queen.
Long Feihua was rooted in place, solemn as he stared at the humongous dragon. Among all creatures, only the Jiao Dragon King was menacing enough to have caused him somewhat alerted. But he had come to grips with it on several occasions, and he knew well enough that the dragon in front of him was not the king.
The Jiao Dragons would differ in species because of their distinct bloodline, and the dragon in front of him was far more imperiling than the dragon king. He trusted his intuition, and he had an uncanny feeling of its abrupt materialization. At this second, he had finally understood the reason why Lu Xuan had dared him to a challenge, looking down upon him. It probably had something to do with this dragon in the sky.
He had never met this species of the Jiao dragon—frankly, he had barely met any of them in his whole life. There were only a few, but this one was different—its threatening aura was almost similar to that of the dragon king.
How did such a fierce beast show up out of nowhere right here? The Xuanhuo Sect was deep-rooted, firm in their foundation—they had the record of all the elites in the Tempest Ocean Realm within these hundreds and thousands of years. It was impossible, the emergence of this Jiao Dragon. Terrorizing as it was, being one of the Summit creatures of the Consolidation Realm, it would surely break down the balance of power this day.
“So this is your trump card? If you think you can stop me by relying on the power of an unknown primate, then you are gravely mistaken!” Long Feihua said coldly.
Lu Xuan crossed his arms, a faint smile hanging on his face. “Did you hear that, Dum-Dum? He called you a primate. Get him!”
As it roared, a hint of fury flashed across the eyes of the Deep Sea Poison Jiao Dragon. It charged straight at Long Feihua, opening its bloody mouth, and spat out a mouthful of poisonous gas.
The poisonous gas had spread rapidly in the atmosphere, instantly blotting out the sun. Wherever the toxic gas would pass, the air would sizzle, affecting the space-time—just like Long Feihua would do, contaminating the fabric of space-time but not tearing through it.
The venomous gas had shrouded Long Feihua in a flash. He was shocked to find that he was affected by the poisonous gas as it seeped through the defensive barrier all over his body. He immediately held his breath, sealing each pore opening of his skin. He knew better than inhaling the lethal gas.
Any elites of the Summit of Consolidation Realm would have had a hard time facing this gas head-on, for the dragon possessed Summit-level power. Its poison was a pain in the *ss, and it wouldn’t be most terrifying on one-on-one battles but battlefields—no matter how many elites there were, once it had released the gas, it would have knocked them out. Hundreds and thousands of elites would have gone down to defeat, and there would be no exceptions.
Recognizing that this was a blood-curdling effect of group combat, he realized he had to get himself off this burdening situation. With a surge of energy through his body, blazing flames had engulfed him, and the same flame would burn everything within a hundred-meter radius into nothingness, including the poisonous fog. With the absolute power he held, none could have invaded his space.
However, this was a piece of cake for the Deep Sea Poison Jiao Dragon. On the brink of an eye, countless water arrows had consolidated around its body, and then they were fired at Long Feihua in a swarm.
The sky had rumbled as the fire clashed with the water infused in venom, and it had formed a nimbus cloud. Its precipitation had fallen to the ground as toxic rain, and even the defensive barrier above Cloud City was starting to gnaw away.
When he saw this, the City Lord’s eyes had twitched—it was a barrier that was supposed to defend against a full-strength attack from any usual elites of the Summits of the Consolidation Realm. And now, it had seemed so fragile. Right at that moment, he finally knew how Lu Xuan got the seventh rank. He was glad that things did not get ugly before that—he could have died. Not only was Lu Xuan’s strength unfathomable, but the beast he had brought with him was also as powerful, so powerful that it could contend with the Long Feihua. If it were him, he would probably have died at the hands of this beast within two or three moves.
While the City Lord had rejoiced in his heart, he was secretly mad at Lu Xuan—if Lu Xuan had shown his true colors earlier, none of them would have humiliated themselves charging at him. Earth was good, but it wasn’t worth risking their lives for it.
Yet, when he thought back on how Lu Xuan hadn’t held back his strength as he killed Yang Zuxin and then heavily injured him, that was when the City Lord pieced things together—Lu Xuan had planned to step on them all this while as he climbed the ladder to success, proving how impressive he was with their bones and flesh. If this were only a showcase of his capabilities, there was no need for his current blazing display of bravura.
He turned his eyes up to the sky, looking at the stature in a bluish-white robe. Shivers had run down his spine. He was not at all the fun, bubbly teenage boy he seemed to be—he was exceptional yet brutal.
