Chapter 360: Miserable Angel
That attack was packed with the boundless power of faith.
“This is typical of the Roman Curia indeed: shameless and hardly changed over the years.”
Many said to themselves. There were many cultivation forces out there who suffered huge losses when fighting the Roman Curia.
When it came to using the power of faith, there were many cultivation forces in the world that had their ways with it. However, there was nobody who was able to do so as exceptionally as the Roman Curia.
One would be lulled into thinking that their opponent would be of a certain level of power. Despite that, the bolstering from the power of faith made said opponent more powerful than they seem to be. One would be at a disadvantage easily when fighting an opponent of that sort.
That terrifying angel brought down its might upon the whole place. The entire Vatican City was shaking slightly and dust was flying everywhere as if a storm was brewing.
“Well, well, well, impressive indeed!”
Lu Xuan laughed away merrily at the sight of it all.
That angel of energy came crashing down on him as holy light was bursting everywhere from the attack.
Everyone saw that the angel made out of energy grew larger, shortly becoming to look like a small mountain.
Even Lu Xuan’s expression seemed dire by then. That was because it was an attack brought about by the two-winged angel, by drawing on the power of faith that had been stockpiled throughout the ages in the Vatican City.
Lu Xuan snorted coldly and sent his Dragonslayer flying into the air. The sky of the city turned dark as thunderclouds gathered, with lightning and thunder rumbling within the clouds. A golden dragon was vaguely seen in the brewing storm.
All of the spectators were even able to see certain parts of the dragon.
Everyone who was watching through their computers felt as if they were watching something from myths and legends playing out.
Whether it was the angel of energy conjured by the two-winged angel that came crashing down like a mountain or that thunder dragon that looked like it was a true godly dragon descending to the mortal realm, they all looked like gods from myths and legends.
In reality, such a level of combat prowess was hardly different from that of legendary gods in the eyes of common folks.
Boom!
That thunder dragon reared its head out from the clouds before everyone around was able to think any more on the phenomenon. Under Lu Xuan’s control, the dragon instantly got in the way of that angel of energy.
Boom!
A variety of terrifying explosions were heard everywhere. Everyone looked up and saw those two massive creatures looming right above the Vatican, which then proceeded to clash with each other. The clash between the two was so shocking that the entire sky trembled.
It was a clash between boundless holy light and lightning.
That huge thunder dragon coiled around the angel of energy, making it look like a clash as told from the stories of western and eastern mythologies.
That two-winged angel then shouted, “God said, ‘Let there be light’, and there is light.”
Everyone felt as if the space all over the Vatican City was frozen in place, where no one was able to move a muscle.
“Damn, it’s the Greater Prophecy Spell again! Have you no shame at all?!”
That Greater Prophecy Spell conjured had an even greater area of effect than the previous one.
Before, the spell had been only able to enshroud the entire St. Peter’s Basilica at best. The one that was conjured at the moment, however, enveloped the entire Vatican City.
While the city itself was hardly considered huge, it was nonetheless the size of a regular city. One could imagine just how shocking that Greater Prophecy Spell would be for a city like that.
By drawing on the power of faith, that two-winged angel was able to envelop the entire Vatican City using its Greater Prophecy Spell.
Everyone was frozen in place, feeling as if time had stopped. The effects were very harrowing.
Even the angel of energy and that thunder dragon fighting in the sky were burdened by the effect of that spell.
That two-winged angel glared at Lu Xuan coldly and began walking in midair.
The two-winged angel came near Lu Xuan mere moments later and held up the sword in its hand. It gave only a cold look to Lu Xuan, without having expression shown on his face. A tinge of indifference was seen in its eyes.
After all, it saw Lu Xuan as little more than just a normal human being.
That heavy sword glinted with a cold sheen to reveal the complex, intricate patterns on it.
Everyone was now holding their breath.
The battle was about to end soon.
Except for the devotees, everyone was lamenting over the possibility that humans truly had no way of dealing with angels.
What they had just seen was no doubt a crushing blow to all of modern mainstream society, where the people believed they could rebel against machinations of the divine.
It became clear to them that no matter how high humans soared, they seemed to be utterly helpless before the creatures of myths and legends all the same; nothing they did mattered.
Shooop!
The heavy sword was brought down, looking as if Lu Xuan was about to be cleaved in half. In the nick of time, Lu Xuan suddenly moved and grabbed that sword right there and then with his bare hand.
Upon closer inspection, someone would be able to see something resembling densely packed scales growing out of his hand, making it look as his skin had turned into scales.
Boom!
A huge rumble was heard as if a missile had just hit the ground, causing shockwaves to shoot out everywhere.
“Impossible!”
That angel glared at Lu Xuan with gaping jaws as if it had been rendered completely astonished after witnessing an unbelievable miracle. To its surprise, Lu Xuan had been able to shake free of its Greater Prophecy Spell.
No, that couldn’t be it. From the looks of things, it seemed more like Lu Xuan was never affected by that Greater Prophecy Spell in the first place.
That Greater Prophecy Spell of the angel was rendered completely useless before Lu Xuan.
“The Greater Prophecy Spell, eh? Is this the best you got?” Lu Xuan asked while flashing a grin.
“I was just messing with you earlier. Do you people genuinely believe that the present is anything like the past? You people think that sending a two-winged angel down to the main plane would be enough to force all humans into submission?”
A huge hand was conjured before long. Everyone saw how it held the two-winged angel by its legs.
Boom!
That two-winged angel then felt itself being sent crashing to the ground hard immediately. The bones throughout its body felt like they were going to shatter as its wings were broken, causing golden blood to seep out of them.
Boom!
Boom!
That huge hand continued to pick up and slam that two-winged angel to the ground again and again without stopping at all. Every time the angel got slammed onto the plaza, the cracks on the floor grew even more.
Everyone’s eyes twitched as they watched what was going on.
It was worth noting that the plaza’s ground might look hardly different from the usual bricks, but the ground was actually steeped in untold amounts of power of faith. As such, the ground was actually extremely resilient, so much so that even missiles wouldn’t have been able to break them open.
Despite its resilience, huge cracks were seen on the ground from each time the angel was slammed onto it.
The two-winged angel looked all regal and mighty just moments ago. However, it was now being flung about like a ragdoll, causing the bones throughout its body to almost be shattered. Blood dripped from all over its being, instantly staining the ground of the plaza.
That angel was suffering serious damage all over it before long. It looked nothing like that being that had acted so high and mighty, lording over everyone just moments ago.
Boom!
The huge hand continued to pick the angel up and slam it to the ground, smashing its head repeatedly against the bricks on the ground.
The angel then immediately spat out blood right away as more seeped out from its skull.
