Chapter 399: Taking Out the Blood-clothed Tower Once and For All

The Dragon looked at Lu Xuan with a tinge of yearning in his eyes. The Tree of Enlightenment was so valuable and mystical that it could be said that whoever had possession of the tree would be forever wealthy.
Not only was the tree capable of benefiting the demons by opening up their intellectual capacity, but it could also similarly benefit normal humans by turning common people into geniuses.
That point alone would have had made the fruits something very sought-after by rich people, with a single fruit being able to fetch astronomical prices.
As such, the purpose that the Tree of Enlightenment that would serve an organization like the Special Task Force would be made even more apparent. There was no doubt that it would become a treasure like no other.
With that said, it was no surprise why the demons would be willing to field such a lineup just to take the tree.
The Dragon shuddered somewhat at that thought, thinking about what would have happened if Lu Xuan had not intercepted the demons.
That tree alone would have given birth to several geniuses among the demons of future generations. There was no doubt that by then, the demons would come to pose a serious threat to humans.
“No, the Tree of Enlightenment is not for sale,” Lu Xuan immediately refused.
Although the Dragon was mentally prepared to face such a rejection, he was still somewhat disappointed upon actually hearing Lu Xuan’s rejection.
“Even so, there’s still room for discussion with regards to the fruits.” Lu Xuan said with a grin.
“I would sell a portion of the fruits once in a while. You’ll be welcomed to purchase them by then if you’re interested, Chief Dragon.”
The Dragon nodded after hearing that. While that was not what he truly wanted to hear, that was still better than the worst-case scenario.
Being able to get some of the fruits from such a tree would still be better than getting nothing at all.
Lu Xuan paused for a bit and said, “By the way, there’s something that I’d like you to help out with, Chief Dragon.”
“Please speak, Mr. Lu. If it’s something within our capacity to fulfill, we are willing to do anything,” the Dragon answered as he clapped his chest.
Lu Xuan elaborated in a magnanimous, overbearing manner, “I take it that you people know about the assassination attempt against me back at the Blood-Clothed Tower. While the Heavenly Palace under my command has served me well, our intelligence network still pales in comparison to that of the Special Task Force. As such, I’d like your men to help gather as much information about the Blood-clothed Tower as possible. I wish to raze the place once and for all.”
He was not someone who was just going to sit on his hands when being assaulted, and he certainly was not the kind who would stay quiet when someone got on his bad side.
Regardless of whoever was behind the assassination attempt and who gave the order, there was no doubt that the attempt had gotten on his nerves.
“I can’t believe that there was someone who still dares to take up a job of taking me out during this time and day. Do I look like I’m someone whom they could push around? Are they so sure that they could do that?” Lu Xuan snorted coldly. Lu Xuan did not fear anyone from the Blood-clothed Tower whatsoever.
A group of assassins lurking in the dark would no doubt pose a serious threat to some people, but they were nothing to him.
The field that his mental powers were able to cover was such that even if there were to be assassins who were lurking around, there would still be no way to avoid being detected.
One could take up a career as thieves but not keep a lookout for thieves for years on end. While he was not afraid of any of those people himself, there was no telling if they would act against his family members instead.
Things would have taken for the worse and that was something that Lu Xuan deemed utterly unacceptable. He was not about to let something like that happen, no matter how incredibly unlikely it was for such a thing to happen in the first place.
The Dragon watched how Lu Xuan’s expression turn cold and unfeeling. It was not something that he often saw on Lu Xuan’s face. Even when Lu Xuan was facing off against all manner of powerful enemies, he would more often than not wear a calm and collected expression instead. Situations that led him to wear such a cold face were as rare as they came.
The Dragon knew very well that Lu Xuan was about to make an example out of those people.
The Dragon sighed to himself, knowing that the Blood-clothed Tower’s days were numbered by then.
Despite the organization’s notoriety as of late, they had to go and tick off Lu Xuan of all the people they could’ve picked on. Were they trying to dig their own graves?
Lu Xuan was so powerful that there was simply no way for those people to come out on top in the first place. The only thing that could have happened to anyone taking on Lu Xuan was being killed by him.
To make matters worse, Lu Xuan commanded a goliath of an organization like the Heavenly Palace, which had so many formidable fighters in their midst that it surpassed even the Special Task Force, which had been the most elite veteran organization that came before.
Then again, the Dragon would have nonetheless liked to see the downfall of the Blood-clothed Tower, as he never liked how the organization threw its weight around in the first place.
The Blood-clothed Tower was simply too much, and many of the people they had killed were Huaxians.
The Blood-clothed Tower was also deemed a high-priority target for the Special Task Force. He saw fit to ride on the state of things and take that notorious organization out once and for all.
However, he knew that the Blood-clothed Tower consisted of a group of guns-for-hire. Someone who was able to hire their likes would have definitely paid an astronomical sum of money to do so.
He wondered just who would have hated Lu Xuan so badly, yet possessed such massive resources to act against him.
Lu Xuan did not seem to know who were the ones behind it just yet, but if he were to find out, things would have definitely gotten messy yet again.
Judging from Lu Xuan’s powers and temperament, he would have most definitely made a huge deal out of it.
The dragon immediately that, “No problem. One of our latest missions involves taking out the Blood-clothed Tower in the first place, and we do happen to have collected quite a vast amount of intel on them. I’d have someone send the files to the Heavenly Palace once I got back.”
“If you have nothing else to discuss, I’ll be taking my leave. There are too many things to take care of as of late and I’m really spreading myself thin. I’ll pay a visit again someday.”
Lu Xuan nodded and the Dragon left shortly afterward.
Yang Chengsi, who was in charge of day-to-day affairs back at the Heavenly Palace, sent word not too long afterward, saying that they received a lot of news regarding the Blood-clothed Tower from the Special Task Force.
The files sent to them included information on several of their bases of operations. The Special Task Force knew of their whereabouts well. Due to restrictions and rules of one sort or another, however, the Special Task Force was unable to snuff them out once and for all.
With all that data in the Heavenly Palace’s hands, Lu Xuan gave his orders right away, sending out formidable fighters to assault all those bases and take out all of the Blood-clothed Tower’s lairs that were found within the borders of Huaxia.
They were also able to obliterate any other forces that had been working with or providing support to the Blood-clothed Tower, using official channels.
The government authorities had been in a state of complete turmoil regarding the existence of the Blood-clothed Tower in the first place, so the cooperation came quickly.
A joint operation that went to take out the Blood-clothed Tower throughout all of Huaxia began.
The military forces stationed throughout the country worked closely with the Special Task Force, taking out any affiliated organizations of, as well as those that had been keeping in close contact with, the Blood-clothed Tower. Whether those people be political, military, or commercial figures, all of them were arrested one after another.
The ones from the Heavenly Palace, on the other hand, focused their efforts on assaulting the bases of the Blood-clothed Tower.
Due to having received no prior warning, the people of the Blood-clothed Tower were unable to do much other than clear out some of their bases of operations that were exposed, despite knowing well that Lu Xuan was about to retaliate against them. Several of their other bases were taken out before they were able to clear out the military forces, and a good number of their formidable fighters were either captured or killed.
