Chapter 81: The Powers Behind

The Flying Dragon Sect was on the blacklist of the Special Task Force, and any who dared to harbor such especially wanted persons of the Special Task Force were definitely mortal enemies with them.
However, things were different for Master Ying.
Dealing with a Martial Arts Legend like him would have given even the Chiefs of the branches severe headaches.
Such beings were usually taken care of by the bosses of branches at the provincial, level after all.
“Is that Master Ying really that difficult?” Lu Xuan asked after taking a look at both of them.
Yun Sheng laid it out to Lu Xuan right away, “Master Ying was actually the go-to guy of a certain organization, and he was specifically tasked to take care of things like these.”
Lu Xuan only came to realize why Master Ying had been able to carve his own territory in the black market middleman industry.
He had an organization backing him up.
Corporations like the Taichu Group would have had a lot of need for such middlemen, and it would have been best for them to foster one such person from among their ranks than to seek out services from outside.
Organizations like that definitely had the power and resources to do so.
“So what? Is the Special Task Force afraid of them now? And speaking of which, have we forgotten that this is a smuggling operation?” Lu Xuan grinned and continued.
“Well, it’s not that we’re actually afraid of them, just that they’re difficult to deal with. People like that sell power items of the country overseas, and that is an act tantamount to betraying one’s own culture and ancestors. They are definitely violating the law for doing so!” Yun Sheng clarified right away.
“Then, in that case, we’ll just leave it at that. According to conventions, I should be collecting my bounties for killing those two wanted criminals. But you could keep the money. I’d just make do with what they were about to smuggle,” Lu Xuan grinned and said.
The two men before him looked puzzled. They had no idea what was actually being smuggled. Despite those goods definitely being items sold at an exorbitant price, killing two enemy Martial Arts Legends was, without a doubt, a very good thing to have happened nonetheless.
It was such an occasion that not just the boss at the provincial level, but even the boss from the headquarters, would have had to come up personally to the one who had done the deed to reward the two of them.
As for the goods about to be smuggled, they thought it sensible to just let it slide. Lu Xuan was the one who killed those two men, after all. The people of the Special Task Force would not have been able to apprehend the men responsible if not for Lu Xuan, and the goods were hardly worth mentioning in comparison.
Lu Xuan waved and took his leave. Chen Nian had to stay behind as a witness.
Yun Sheng and Wang Junming looked at each other after Lu Xuan was gone, taking a deep breath to calm the chill running down their spines.
They had to do so, especially after seeing the number of bodies all over the place.
“One blow, one kill,” Yun Sheng said.
“HuaJin and Baodan levels can be dealt with one single blow. Even Martial Arts Legends take no more than two blows to deal with. Some frightening level of powers, indeed.”
Wang Junming checked the wounds and found what just happened to be harrowing.
Martial Arts Legends were beings at such terrifying levels. A single person could have wiped out every member of a branch.
They would have had to resort to using secret weapons before being able to repel such a menace.
The emphasis was “repel.” Killing Martial Arts Legends would have been impossibly difficult, and the losses they would have sustained far exceeded the value of the kill.
Yet, Lu Xuan simply went up and dealt with such beings without breaking a sweat, and he had even killed two such beings.
The thought of what just happened would have given them nightmares.
“Sh*t. I really don’t think we can just explain all of these away. We’ll need to report to the big boss,” Yun Sheng said with a bitter smirk.
He intended to keep Lu Xuan back at the Fu City branch, but from the looks of things at the moment, Lu Xuan was too terrifying of a being. He was a true dragon and could not be held back by the Fu City branch.
Lu Xuan felt even more terrifying than he had been over a month ago.
One could have even said that he had grown ten times more terrifying than he before.
Yun Sheng himself was a veteran when it came to such matters, and he definitely would have been able to tell just how easily Lu Xuan had disposed of those two Martial Arts Legends. The young man didn’t have it as easy when he got rid of Chen Jiashang back then.
Those two dead legends had been at least twice as powerful as Chen Jiashang.
The gap between one Martial Arts Legend to another could be very apparent, after all.
All that simply meant that Lu Xuan had advanced to unthinkable power.
“So, then, do you think that he made it to the National Guardian level?” Wang Junming asked, feeling it all to be too surreal.
“I think that’s possible. Do you believe it? When he said that it took him only a single night of ‘dedicated training’ to break through into Martial Arts Legends level?” Yun Sheng said while he gritted his teeth. He remembered Lu Xuan’s “dedicated training” all too well, even though he had only heard of that from someone else.
He thought Lu Xuan was simply bragging because the young man had gotten too bored, but when he really came to think about it, the young man might have actually been telling the truth.
In an era where the spirit qi was slowly being restored to the world, many in his organization had heard countless stories of people seeing exponential spikes in power levels in a single night after experiencing some extraordinary encounter. Although most of those people were Awakened, there was also a fair share of warriors having such experiences.
“From the looks of things, our speculations from before turned out to be true. Mr. Lu might be of some lineage elsewhere. He doesn’t seem to be the kind who just chanced upon some kind of lineage, but a descendant of one that is going out into the world.” Wang Junming mentioned the speculations they both had a while ago.
Despite the two men being age-old rivals, they were also comrades at the same time. They were sensible enough to share certain information between them.
“Regardless, Mr. Lu seems to be a hell lot easier to deal with than some of those snobs up there. At the very least, he’s definitely on our side,” Yun Sheng nodded and said.
Yun Sheng looked into Lu Xuan’s background in secret before. He had all that he was able to dig up on that young man, down to the very last detail.
However, he still was unable to see anything that stood out in the sea of information about Lu Xuan.
There were simply too many contradictions about the man, and it was impossible to find an all-encompassing answer for him.
On the other side, Lu Xuan returned home, thinking he had really gotten rich by snuffing out the operation. But then again, money hardly mattered to Lu Xuan.
It was only a matter of how many protection talismans he bothered drawing when it came to money. On the other hand, the items he had just gotten his hands on were very sought-after items, so much so that one would not necessarily be able to get their hands on them, even if they were willing to pay any price to get them.
It was especially so in the case of the Coiling Dragon Ring, which would have cost a fortune. Lu Xuan got his hands on the ring from some big shots back in his past life. Spatial power items were hard to come by, to begin with, and even more so in the case of items capable of growth.
It was something that was literally priceless.
Both of his parents were at work when he got home. His youngest little sister had gone kindergarten. Only his other little sister was at home instead of having gone to school that day.
Ever since Lu Xuan told his family about spirit qi being restored to the world, his parents brought Lu Shanshan home from her boarding school. While study was important, it would have no longer be as important in the future world, apparently. Cultivation would be the most important instead.
“Oh, you’re back, brother?” Lu Shanshan was in a casual outfit that exposed her legs. She walked out of her room and got her brother a glass of water.
“Not in school today?” Lu Xuan asked.
“Well, I’m near a breakthrough in my training now. I’m probably near that Level Three of Cultivation that you told me about, and I’m just one step away from making a breakthrough. Mom just told me to stay home and do that instead,” Lu Shanshan explained.
