Chapter 65: The Xia City Agency of Special Affairs Chief’s Shock
In the Xing Chen Bay Residence, two people were walking along the green shaded pathway of the community.
One of them was a man with a square face who looked to be in his fifties. He walked with an imposing bearing, and he had the countenance of a warrior. He was being followed by someone who looked to be in her twenties. She had delicate facial features, though she was dressed in a way that made her look capable and experienced.
“Chief, who are we going to visit this time?” the lady asked.
“A martial arts legend!” As these words left the square-faced man’s mouth, the lady beside him could not help but suck in a breath of cold air.
It was because she knew all too well what a martial arts legend was.
They were really legends in their own right and did whatever they wanted in their provinces. Even their Agency of Special Affairs found it hard to deal with these people, as the Agency could not fight them; they could only do their best to rope them in.
“Do we have a martial arts legend in this province? Could it be the Southern Shaolin master?” the lady asked. From what she knew, the Min Province martial arts realm was led by the Seven Invincible Sect in the north and the Chen family in the south. However, if she was not mistaken, these two groups did not have a martial arts legend amongst them.
Furthermore, there was one other martial arts haven in the province. In terms of the details, they were still above the two families. This was the Putian Southern Shaolin.
Although the Shaolin Temple was quickly turning into a tourist destination and had previously planned to go commercial, becoming a laughing stock, she knew some things regular people did not. In ancient temples thousands of years old like this, there were often some reclusive masters, and not all of them were out fishing for fame.
“No, not those people from Southern Shaolin!” the square-faced man answered. “Up until now, I still don’t know where he came from, but I got this news from the people in Fu City. Hehe, if that Old Yun didn’t come bragging to me about the martial arts legend the Fu City Agency of Special Affairs found, I would still be kept in the dark. Right under our noses, there was actually such a powerful master!”
“So, Chief, you intend to poach him?” The lady immediately figured out what her chief was trying to do.
He was actually trying to poach him!
And the target of his poaching was an elusive martial arts legend, who regularly stayed in his ivory tower, unseen by lesser mortals.
Though she knew that in the flourishing age that was approaching, it was much easier to become a martial arts legend than before, presently, a martial arts legend still had enough strength to deter opposition.
“Why do you have to call it ‘poaching’? It sounds so negative. Does it make sense for a dignified martial arts legend to be the consultant to a city branch? Of course, he should be the consultant for a provincial branch like ours!” the square-faced man said self-righteously.
When he recalled the way Yun Sheng was flaunting his achievement, he was filled with displeasure. All the branches of the Agency of Special Affairs were expanding enrollment now. With the changes in the world becoming more and more pronounced, there was an increasing number of incidents, which required more manpower to deal with.
One martial arts legend was enough to suppress all kinds of evil characters, and his recruitment had even shocked the Big Boss of the State Bureau, who personally handed down a commendation.
If Lu Xuan was originally from Fu City, then there was nothing he could do about it. Yet, now, he had stumbled upon the knowledge that this martial arts legend’s family was in Xia City. Was he not under his jurisdiction then?
This was a godsend!
After knocking on the door, a middle-aged man dressed in a Chinese robe opened the door.
The square-faced man took a look into the house and asked, “Excuse me, is Mister Lu in?”
“You’re looking for the Young Master?” Zhang Hongyang studied the two visitors. These were the guests Lu Xuan was referring to?
Zhang Hongyang was slightly shocked by how powerful the Young Master’s Mental Strength was. Even a Mental Awakened like himself did not sense anyone coming. He only felt their presence when the two of them had entered the elevator.
Was this the ability of a National Guardian level master?
In truth, his guess was not off the mark. After breaking through to the National Guardian level, the Mental Strength that Lu Xuan emitted could vaguely sense all the happenings in the residential community.
The assassin who previously wanted to sneak up on Lu Xuan and assassinate him was really out of his depth.
Zhang Hongyang’s strength was far superior to the two visitors. He could tell at a glance that the square-faced man had the cultivation of a Level Five Baodan Grandmaster and that the pretty lady beside him was a Level Four Cultivator, which was equivalent to a cultivation level achieving transmigration.
To an average person, they would be formidable opponents, but to him, they were not even worth looking at, much less so for the Young Master.
At this point, the square-faced man seriously looked at Zhang Hongyang, though he was just sizing him up. Zhang Hongyang’s muscles were lean and tight. Though he did not look like a martial arts master, he gave off an unfathomable feeling of extreme danger.
“An Awakened. He must be an Awakened, and one of a very high level!”
The square-faced man made a shocking discovery, as he realized he could not see through the depths of Zhang Hongyang’s cultivation. Even though he was a warrior and of a different type than the Awakened, with his experience and knowledge, he was generally able to see through someone’s cultivation.
As such, he could immediately determine that this Zhang Hongyang was probably at least a Level Five Awakened.
As for the possibility that he was a Level Six martial arts legend, the thought flashed across his mind, but he dared not dwell on it. He did not dare believe that Lu Xuan could actually bring a martial arts legend under his wing as a servant.
That would be truly legendary.
The woman sensed the strange atmosphere between the two men but did not understand it. She had not noticed anything unusual about Zhang Hongyang, as the gap in their abilities was far too big.
“Yes, I am the Chief of the Xia City Agency of Special Affairs, Wang Junming, and this is my subordinate, Hua Xiaoyao,” the square-faced man hurriedly introduced himself. “The purpose of this visit is to see Mister Lu. Could you tell me if Mister Lu is home right now?”
“So it was the Agency of Special Affairs!” Zhang Hongyang came to a sudden realization, nodding his head.
Though he spent most of his time working in South-east Asia, he was still aware of the most fearsome Cultivator organization in the Huaxia mainland, the famed Agency of Special Affairs.
He did not know how many Cultivators had gone to the Huaxia mainland with evil intentions only to meet a crushing defeat, but they had all fallen to the Agency of Special Affairs.
It was understandable, given the cultivation of the two people before him.
“Please come in. The Young Master told me earlier that guests were coming, and he must have been referring to you!” Zhang Hongyang said.
Hua Xiaoyao did not think anything was amiss, but Wang Junming was shocked by this revelation, as his appraisal of Lu Xuan’s strength increased.
If it were him, from such a distance, he would have never sensed someone approaching for a visit.
Even regular martial arts legends would not be able to do something so impressive!
Wang Junming searched within his memories for other martial arts legends he met while at the Agency, comparing their abilities to Lu Xuan’s. He discovered that even the other martial arts legends had not displayed such a terrifying perception ability.
With Zhang Hongyang taking the lead, Wang Junming and his companion entered the living room, where they saw a young man in casual clothes lying on the sofa.
Just as Wang Junming was beginning to doubt if this was the up-and-coming martial arts legend Lu Xuan that he read about in his dossier, the youth shot him a casual glance. In that instant, his body felt freezing cold. It was as though he had fallen into an icy cave.
There was no mistaking it. This lazy young man was the up and coming martial arts legend Lu Xuan.
