Chapter 194: Not a Small Spectacle
‘Sometimes the truth that you think is your reality, isn’t?!’
‘What did this mean?’ Ling Chuxi felt her heart tremble suddenly. ‘Could it be that what Aunt Wang had told her all along was not true? Did Aunt Wang lie to her?’
“So, are you saying that my Aunt Wang has been lying to me regarding matters to do with my mother?” asked Ling Chuxi with a frown.
“That is a question I cannot give you an answer to,” replied Jin Buhuan with a shake of his head. “I am powerless to do so.”
Ling Chuxi felt her heart sink. Although Jin Buhuan’s reply was as such, she already had a hunch in her heart. If it was not that Aunt Wang had been lying to her, then it would be that Aunt Wang herself did not know the truth of the matter.
“Miss Ling Chuxi, a promise by Feng Yan Union is effective for life. So anytime you wish to obtain information, you can use this token. Show it to the shopkeeper at Qi Bao House in the capital.” After Jin Buhuan finished speaking, he dug out a small, exquisite token and handed it to Ling Chuxi. This lifetime promise was very serious one indeed. If Ling Chuxi did not utilize this promise during her lifetime, then Ling Chuxi’s descendants could use this token to get Feng Yan Union to fulfil their promise down the line.
“Miss Ling Chuxi, I am truly very sorry about this. Please understand that we, the Feng Yan Union, are truly powerless in this matter.” Jin Buhuan once again expressed his sincere apologies.
“Then, aside from you guys…” Ling Chuxi still held onto a thread of hope as she began to ask if there were any other ways she could obtain information about her family before trailing off.
“Miss Ling Chuxi, let me give you a piece of advice—You are free to go and search for the answers you seek, but the prerequisite is that you have to be very strong. Strong enough to protect yourself from what you might find,” said Jin Buhuan with an expression that was very serious. “Your talent is indeed shocking, to already be at Battle Qi Level 7 at this age is impressive. However, it is still not sufficient.”
Jin Buhuan left shortly after. Ling Chuxi looked at the token in her hand as her mind floated far away. ‘What exactly was going on? Why was it that Feng Yan Union was not able to obtain any information about her parents as well as Ling Wushang?’
“Chuxi, are you all right?” asked Ling Yichen worriedly as he looked at Ling Chuxi blanking out.
Ling Chuxi regained her senses and ran her fingers over the token in her hand. “I’m fine.” Suddenly, she smiled. “There will come a day where the truth of this matter will be made known. There is no meaning in me struggling over this now.” Indeed, struggling as such was meaningless. Now, what she needed to do was to make herself stronger. She would pursue the answer herself. It was just that Ling Chuxi could vaguely feel that the matter of her origins was not so simple.
And so, this matter was temporarily tossed aside. The remaining time after this temporary conclusion was used to prepare to report to Wind Cloud Academy.
Wind Cloud Academy was a place where many influential individuals gathered like the clouds and the winds, and a place where there were many a hidden expert waiting to pounce like crouching tigers and hidden dragons. This was a place where all of the elites in Nan Xia Country gathered. Not only were there students from White Stone Academy here on exchange to learn, but there were also students from other academies who had come here on exchange to gain new knowledge. And amongst all the students who had come on exchange to Wind Cloud Academy, they were all the elites of their own academies. This naturally was a cause for some conflicts to arise.
For example, the elites of all these other academies would try to issue challenges to spar with each other and whatnot. However, what surprised Ling Chuxi was that even the Deity Temple had their people attending Wind Cloud Academy. It was a girl serving the Deity, a Deity’s servant, who was a student here. There was a group of twelve pure young maidens who possessed both strong cultivation and a sense of moral integrity at The Deity Temple. They were the messengers attending to the Deity as servants. Great honor and status came with such a position. The fact that Wind Cloud Academy actually also had a Deity’s servant as a student surprised Ling Chuxi a little.
On the first day of reporting to school, Ling Chuxi saw this Deity’s servant. A snow-white carriage pulled by four snow-white stallions stopped at the gates of Wind Cloud Academy. Immediately, an attendant then brought over a stool to the carriage door and waited for the person inside to alight. This spectacle was not small at all.
