Chapter 122: One of the Three Big Chambers of Commerce
“In my eyes, you’re not even comparable to an animal,” spat Ling Chuxi as calmly as she could. Yet, her words provided the opposite effect on the nouveau riche young maiden—she was so angered to the point where she exploded.
“Beat them up for me! And kill that animal too!” screamed the nouveau riche young maiden crazily at the followers behind her. No one had dared insult her like this before! Never! Right then, she only wished to beat the impudent maiden who dared humiliate her into a pulp until she knelt down and begged for mercy. She also needed to dice that fox up until it became minced meat before she could vent out all the anger in her heart.
“Try then,” said a curt voice threateningly. A sneer that could make one’s heart shudder appeared on Ling Yichen’s cold face. His sword had already left its sheath and his body was enshrouded with a murderous aura that left people trembling with fear. This forceful and imposing manner was completely incompatible with his age! It immediately shocked the nouveau riche young maiden and her followers.
The fifth princess was happier than ever. Her master had kept teaching her not to cause any trouble and bully others with her might. But now, it was the opposing party who had taken action and found fault first. Since that was the case, her taking action would now be considered counterattacking and not bullying, isn’t it? Her hands had long been itching!
The people behind the nouveau riche young maiden were a little hesitant at the moment. Although the members of the opposing party looked young, their dressing and temperament all indicated they weren’t ordinary people. Their master and young master had instructed them many times to look out for their miss. Never did they think that their miss would cause trouble again so quickly. Furthermore, the young man who drew his sword was giving off an aura that felt suppressing, chilling and as cornering as a sharp and unsheathed sword all at the same time. Just who on earth were these people?
“What are you all doing? Are you refusing to recognize my authority?! When I return home, I will get my father to punish all of you!” screeched the nouveau riche young maiden angrily when she saw that none of her followers had moved a muscle even after she had commanded them to. “You pieces of garbage. Is the Gao family feeding you for nothing?”
None of the followers took action even after this. Instead, one of them stepped forward and put his fist to the cupped palm of his other hand. His tone was somewhat courteous as he spoke, “My apologies for disturbing all of you. We are guards for the Gao Clan’s Chamber of Commerce. If we have offended you, we ask for your forgiveness. However, as all of you have been rude to our family’s miss, we’d like to ask you to explain yourselves for behaving in such a manner towards her.”
These words showcased their identity, and it also probed the opposing party’s decision and conclusion. The guards were clearly not brainless people. The decision to send them over to protect their impulsive and brainless miss wasn’t a bad choice at all.
‘Gao Clan’s Chamber of Commerce?’ Ling Chuxi narrowed her eyes and sized up the young maiden standing before her who was fully dressed up as a member of the nouveau riche. The Gao Clan’s Chamber of Commerce was one of the three big Chambers of Commerce in the country—it was akin to having a master who was so rich that oil dripped off them. There were branches of the Gao Clan’s Chamber of Commerce all over the country. However, since the Gao Clan’s Chamber of Commerce was of the kind of background where such riches had been inherited down through generations for over a hundred years, why did the young maiden before them not possess the bearings of upbringing within a prominent family?
“Now that you know my identity, quickly kowtow and apologize to me. Since I am in a good mood, perhaps I won’t be so calculative. Also, give me the fox. I’d like to turn it into a scarf.” The nouveau riche maiden observed a slight change in Ling Chuxi’s expression and interpreted it as fear of her newly disclosed status. Thus, she unscrupulously became even more presumptuous. This nouveau riche maiden was the miss of the Gao Clan’s Chamber of Commerce—Gao Rongrong. She felt the opposing party would fear her after finding out her identity, but her followers standing behind her were secretly lamenting in their hearts for they knew they had kicked an “iron plate” today.
They knew this because Ling Chuxi and the rest who were seated at the table had not expressed the least bit of fear or surprise at hearing them introduce themselves. They had all remained calm in a manner that could not be faked.
