Chapter 314: Life is Really as Fleeting as Snow
There was a wide martial arts training ground in the courtyard, and the racks on both sides were full of various weapons. In the middle of the training ground, Lan Xinyu was practicing martial arts. Her golden whip lashed out, making a sharp whistling sound.
“Thank you.” Ling Chuxi did not want to interrupt her training and thanked the housekeeper softly.
The housekeeper bowed and left. Ling Chuxi and Ling Yichen stood by the doorway of the courtyard, watching Lan Xinyu practice her martial arts.
It seemed that although Lan Xinyu had been eliminated early in the martial arts competition, her attitiude had not been affected much. Instead, she had gained quite a bit through the experience and her cultivation seemed to have improved. Not only was she able to condense her Battle Qi, she also seemed more familiar with using it. Severe but steady, every whip was lashed with strength and confidence.
As long as she kept up this attitude, with Lan Xinyu’s innate talent, being promoted to the Great Fulfilment was only a matter of time.
Lan Xinyu was so focused on her training, flicking whip after whip, that she didn’t even notice the arrival of the Ling Chuxi duo. She only stopped after a while, and finally noticed the two figures at the gate of the courtyard.
“Chuxi, why are you both here?” Lan Xinyu put her golden whip away and welcomed them in surprise.
“It’s been a while since we last saw each other. I missed you so I came to see you,” Ling Chuxi said with a smile.
“Missed me?” Lan Xinyu looked at Ling Chuxi oddly. That was not something Ling Chuxi would say. Did she leave out a few words? She probably missed beating her, right? Indeed, Ling Chuxi’s next words revealed the truth.
“Yeah, I missed you. Now that I can’t find people to fight with, my hands are itching very badly. I really missed you,” Ling Chuxi said sincerely and Lan Xinyu gaped at her in shock.
“Ling Chuxi, are you here to beat me up again? Don’t think that being at the Great Fulfilment made you invincible, I’m not that easy to bully!” Lan Xinyu recovered and yelled fiercely.
“That’s fine with me. If you are weak, bullying you would be meaningless.” Ling Chuxi lunged at Lan Xinyu and aimed a punch at her.
“You really tried it!” Lan Xinyu’s reflexes had been conditioned after spending time with Ling Chuxi, and she flashed instinctively, then punched back with her backhand.
The two collided and started exchanging blows, spraying sand and rocks in the training ground in all directions.
Ling Yichen who was standing aside could only smile wearily. This was Ling Chuxi and Lan Xinyu’s friendship. Every time they met, they would definitely fight; in a weird way though, it was somewhat heartwarming.
“Not being able to fight is so boring.” As usual, Lan Xinyu had earned a black eye, and surrendered first. She looked irritated and unsatisfied. ‘I really don’t know what kind of monster this person is, but it’s fine – I’m also a genius recognized by the Lan family anyway.’ She had tried desperately to cultivate, but not only she was unable to keep up with her, the gap in their cultivation was getting bigger and bigger. If this continued, she would not even have the qualifications to seek abuse. ‘No, I must work harder!’
“I also feel it’s boring. You’re still too weak.” Ling Chuxi stretched her arms out refreshingly, a blissful expression on her face.
“Ling Chuxi, are you trying to anger me to death? Sooner or later I will catch up to you!” Lan Xinyu waved her fist menacingly, but there was no disappointment in her heart. What Ling Chuxi could do, she definitely could do too. There would come a day when she would become a strong cultivator just like her.
“Then you have to work hard. Life is really as fleeting as snow,” Ling Chuxi said absently.
