Chapter 166: I’m Worried that I Won’t be Able to Hold Back
When Huangfu Qingjue saw how Ling Chuxi had her feathers ruffled, he smiled gently. His smile was full of overflowing affection.
“You, what are you smiling about? Appearing in my bedroom in the middle of the night… Who is teasing who? Stop talking nonsense!”
Nervously looking at Huangfu Qingjue who was by her bedside, Ling Chuxi suddenly felt that her own face was very, very hot. His hot breath seemed to linger on her ear.
Huangfu Qingjue finally stopped smiling and replied in a low voice, “I’m not smiling about anything.”
Although he did not appear to be smiling, a hint of a smile could still be seen in his eyes.
“You, you, get out immediately!” stammered Ling Chuxi as she was a little tounge-tied.
No one could be calm if a man suddenly appeared by their bedside in the middle of the night.
“Alright, alright. I’ll leave.” said Huangfu Qingjue rather helplessly. “Remember, don’t tease me like that in the future. I’m worried that I won’t be able to hold back and wait till you grow up.”
“You, stop talking nonsense!”
Ling Chuxi was both embarrassed and somewhat distressed. She picked up her pillow and threw it at Huangfu Qingjue. With a puff, it fell to the ground. When she looked over, he was no longer there.
“Eh? Where is he? He ran away so quickly.”
Ling Chuxi looked around the house in uncertainty, but did not find the man she was looking for. With a harrumph, she got out of bed to pick up her pillow, but she ended up seeing Little White standing beside the pillow without moving.
“Ah! Little White, why did you get off the bed? Come, let’s go snuggle under the blankets. It’s not the same without you!”
Ling Chuxi happily picked up the pillow, then embraced Little White and went under the covers. Without Little White, the covers were not as warm, and naturally she would not feel as happy. That night, she slept extra comfortably.
When she woke up early the next morning, Ling Chuxi looked in front of her bed and blinked. Last night’s matter suddenly appeared before her eyes like a vision. Huangfu Qingjue’s appearance was like a dream, but everything was real.
Shaking her head, she got up, washed up, and got ready to have her breakfast. When she arrived at the table, she saw that Lan Xinyu was already eating.
“You’ve really made yourself at home, huh?” said Ling Chuxi. She harrumphed and sat down, using her chopsticks to pick up a dumpling.
Lan Xinyu gave a short laugh. “I bought two roasted chickens and a roasted duck for you. We can eat them on the way.”
When Ling Chuxi heard Lan Xinyu’s words, her dark face turned cheery and she very “generously” picked up a meat bun and put it into Lan Xinyu’s bowl. “Oh. This meat bun is for you.”
Lan Xinyu squinted and started enjoying her food.
Aunt Wang was observing the interaction between the two from the side. With a twitch of the corner of her lips, she wordlessly entered the kitchen.
After breakfast, there was a carriage awaiting them. Master Lan had gone ahead before them to return to White Stone City.
In the carriage, Ling Chuxi was nodding off whilst hugging Little White. Ling Yichen closed his eyes to rest. Lan Xinyu was flipping through a book, but in the end, the road was too bumpy and she could not continue reading.
She pulled at Ling Chuxi’s hand. “Heyhey, Ling Chuxi. Let me tell you something.”
Ling Chuxi spat out a single word without even opening her eyes, “Release!”
“Release what?” wondered Lan Xinyu, blinking in confusion.
From the side, Ling Yichen slowly opened his eyes and explained expressionlessly, “She meant if you have any farts, just release it.” (T/N: It’s a Chinese saying, meaning to just spit out what you want to say.)
Suddenly getting it, Lan Xinyu immediately shouted, intending to attack Ling Chuxi, “Ling Chuxi, I’m going to kill you!”
“If the carriage breaks apart, we’ll have to walk to White Stone City. If you feel this is feasible, then you can take action,” said Ling Chuxi lazily. Her careless words successfully made Lan Xinyu obdiently sit still.
