Chapter 1256: What Does He Want?
After Fu Huai’an hung up the call, Lin Nuan came knocking on the study door. She informed Fu Huai’an that they had started the fire, and she asked Fu Huai’an to go down to barbecue meat.
Fu Huai’an slipped his phone into his trouser pocket and opened the door.
Lin Nuan placed her slender arm on Fu Huai’an’s narrow waist and rested her chin on Fu Huai’an’s solid chest, asking, “What’s the matter? Why did you come up here for so long?”
Fu Huai’an smiled and circled his arms around his little bride, planting a kiss on her forehead. “Get Fang Yan to arrange more events for Fu Tianci, lest he gets bored!”
“I know. That Tang Xiangyuan is too absurd. Although he looks gentlemanly on the surface, he sexually assaulted so many female celebrities. Plus, he speaks so disgustingly. I feel that Tianci did a good job walloping him!” Lin Nuan stood on Fu Tianci’s side.
“Being involved in more events is good for him!” With one arm around Lin Nuan, Fu Huai’an closed the door with the other arm. “After ‘Red Rivers’ wraps up shooting, get Fang Yan to arrange fewer events for you. Stay at home and accompany the kids and me!”
“Okay! That’s my intention too! Other than the two fixed shows, I don’t wish to take on other events. But when Director Hu publicizes ‘Red Rivers’, I’ve still got to go!”
“Okay!”
“Would you like to accompany me?”
“If you’d like, I’ll keep you company at every event!”
“Remember to keep your promise, Chairman Fu! Don’t say you’re too busy when the time comes…”
The couple spoke as they went downstairs while holding hands.
On the lawn, Tang Zheng and Lu Jinnan were joking with each other, whilst Yun Liuli was feeding Tuan Tuan and Little Candy fruits. Bai Xiaonian was saying something with You Nainai… her face full of smiles, a hand over her tummy.
Such a scene was what Fu Huai’an and the group of them looked forward to.
Regarding the news that Li Muyang was in Haicheng, Fu Huai’an kept it hidden from them, not even revealing it to Lu Jinnan and Tang Zheng…
Why would he let them be vexed with him over this matter?
He would let them stay carefree for as long as he could!
When Gu Qingcheng arrived, he took over Lu Jinnan and Fu Huai’an’s duty and started barbecuing meat by the fire.
He spoke to Fu Huai’an in a hushed tone. “Before I came, I saw someone…”
“Mm…” Fu Huai’an responded softly, acting as if his focus was still on the barbecued meat, waiting for Gu Qingcheng to finish his words.
“Shen Zizhou!”
Fu Huai’an halted in his act of barbecuing meat. He turned sideways and looked at Gu Qingcheng. “You had ties with him in the past?”
Shen Zizhou was one of the rare people Fu Huai’an respected. Back then, when Fu Huai’an shielded Shen Zizhou and secretly exchanged spies with the US, the young Shen Zizhou wore a distant and calm smile. Even as the negotiation was on the verge of falling apart and a life-and-death battle was to ensue, Shen Zizhou, who was only protected by Fu Huai’an, continued to look nonchalant.
Shen Zizhou’s quiet, steady, and imposing nature differentiated him from all the other second-generation rich people Fu Huai’an knew. That man had a scheming nature, especially those deep and unfathomable eyes of his, which looked so calm at all times that one couldn’t read any emotion from them.
If Gu Qingcheng had been in contact with Shen Zizhou in the past… Fu Huai’an wasn’t surprised to learn he was recognized by the latter.
“No…” Gu Qingcheng brushed a layer of oil over the vegetables. “He said… Liuli’s father was his subordinate! He was the one who arranged for Yun Liuli’s father to go to my older brother Gu Qingcheng’s side!”
Gu Qingcheng had a feeling that Shen Zizhou knew he was Gu Qingcheng. Although he addressed Gu Qingcheng as Mr. Jacob Bellucci, it was merely because he didn’t wish to expose him.
“What does he want?” Fu Huai’an asked.
Fu Huai’an wouldn’t believe Shen Zizhou didn’t have a motive in approaching Gu Qingcheng to tell him that Yun Liuli’s father was one of his men.
“He said Liuli’s father left a list of names, and that list should be among Gu Qingcheng’s belongings. He wants that list!” Gu Qingcheng scattered spice over the vegetables, then looked up at Fu Huai’an. “He wants the list of all of Gu Qingcheng’s business partners in the country. After he obtains this list, he’ll take it that we never met.”
Actually, what Shen Zizhou meant was for Gu Qingcheng to hand over the name list…
What belongings? Even Gu Qingcheng had no idea Yun Liuli’s father had left behind such a list of names.
Shen Zizhou’s meaning was clear—since Gu Qingcheng had retired, that name list was of no use to him. So long as Gu Qingcheng handed the name list to him, Gu Qingcheng would be a dead man to him, and the person alive would only be Jacob Bellucci.
However, Gu Qingcheng and Fu Huai’an had handed all their business to Cen Mo, so if they were to hand over the list of names, it would inevitably affect Cen Mo.
“He said he’ll give me at most four hours. Four hours from now, he’s going to leave Haicheng.” Gu Qingcheng sounded calm.
Fu Huai’an narrowed his eyes. This was Shen Zizhou’s style alright. If it was something within his control, he wouldn’t waste extra time on it.
Shen Zizhou had announced that he suffered an injury and returned to China, retiring from politics. Now, he was suddenly asking Gu Qingcheng for the name list. Fu Huai’an sniffed something unusual.
Fu Huai’an didn’t utter a word. Only when he was done barbecuing the meat did he say, “Give him the list of all our business partners that dealt in immoral business!”
Gu Qingcheng understood what Fu Huai’an meant. That meant he wasn’t planning to hand over the main suppliers in Cen Mo’s firearms business, but he would hand over the list of all those people who bought firearms from them in the country!
What kind of proper business could those people who were taking goods from them be dealing in? They must be dealing in either prostitution, gambling, or drugs…
That Shen Zizhou suddenly returned to the country and asked for this name list, so Fu Huai’an guessed… perhaps Shen Zizhou was planning to deal with these people.
But Fu Huai’an and Gu Qingcheng’s so-called name list was a list of people their subordinates dealt with. They wouldn’t necessarily be able to point out the leader behind them, only roughly knowing what the other party dealt in.
After all, Gu Qingcheng dealt in army ammunition, and there wasn’t a need for him to be clear about the background of the parties he was dealing with. When it came to army ammunition, they were the biggest player around, and they usually collected the money before getting the other party to collect the army ammunition at a specified location. They had never encountered a situation where one party tried to double-cross them!
Of course, no one dared to double-cross them with Gu Qingcheng in charge…
Fu Huai’an set the barbecued meat aside, then scattered some chili powder over the half-cooked sausage with a frown. “Shen Zizhou is a smart guy. He won’t ask you for the list of suppliers! The suppliers… even if you don’t tell him, with his scheming nature, he would be able to guess it. I’m guessing what he wants is to obtain the name list of our buyers! If Shen Zizhou wants to deal with those people, he would be doing a good deed for the civilians…”
Gu Qingcheng nodded.
Other than giving Cen Mo a copy before he faked his death, Gu Qingcheng had destroyed all the other name lists. But there was still a copy in Gu Qingcheng’s brain.
Fu Huai’an picked up a ketchup bottle and saw that it was empty…
