Chapter 555: Have You Gotten in Touch With Huai’an?

Not wanting to scare Tuan Tuan, Lin Nuan looked down and revealed a smile at him, turning his attention away. “Tuan Tuan, are you hungry? Why don’t we eat first and then save some food for Papa?”
Tuan Tuan shook his head and said with determination, “Wait for Papa!”
Lin Nuan smiled and nodded. “Then… Before Papa gets back, Mama will allow Tuan Tuan to eat a few pieces of chocolate, alright? Don’t tell Papa!”
Hearing that there was chocolate, Tuan Tuan’s eyes immediately lit up, and he licked his lips. He nodded and gave Lin Nuan a thumbs-up. “Mama’s the best!”
His childish voice sounded extremely cute.
Lin Nuan and Tuan Tuan sat near the villa’s windows and could easily see the situation outside.
She held onto an orange and was peeling it, her thoughts wandering. Her eyes kept on staring out of the floor-to-ceiling windows.
The television was switched on. Lin Nuan’s Arabic wasn’t especially good, but she could faintly hear the program’s host reporting the multiple-vehicle collision that had suddenly taken place this morning.
Several dozen steel pipes had plunged down, piercing into the cars that were driving along that road. Some of the pipes pierced through the glass windows… some pierced through the cars’ roofs!
As this accident had taken place unexpectedly, it resulted in a multiple-vehicle collision, and the situation was extremely dire.
Lin Nuan turned and looked at the television screen. The scene flashed by in an instant. She could even see the splattered blood on a windshield that had two steel pillars pierced through it.
Her heart palpitated increasingly quickly, and it gripped her heart for some reason.
Tuan Tuan opened his small mouth, waiting for Lin Nuan to feed him a piece of orange. However, he didn’t expect that what Lin Nuan handed to him was a piece of orange peel…
Tuan Tuan closed his small mouth and raised his head to look at Lin Nuan. When Tuan Tuan saw Lin Nuan’s tightly furrowed brows, he took the orange peel that Lin Nuan handed over and ran to toss it into the trash. He then used both of his hands to climb up the sofa, sitting on his heels beside Lin Nuan, waiting for her to feed him again.
Another piece of orange peel came over. Tuan Tuan took it, climbed down the sofa, and ran off to toss it away. This time around, he stood beside Lin Nuan and was in no hurry to climb up the sofa.
Lin Nuan saw Tuan Tuan standing beside her in her peripheral vision, and her lips curled up with much difficulty. She sent a piece of orange to Tuan Tuan’s mouth, only to discover that it was an orange peel. She got a shock and then noticed that the remaining half of the orange was still lying in her palm. The orange peel was already gone!
“Tuan Tuan, where are the orange peels?” Lin Nuan put down the orange nervously and squatted down in front of Tuan Tuan, feeling horrified. “Quickly spit them out!”
Tuan Tuan opened his mouth wide and showed it to Lin Nuan, then pointed to the trash. “I threw it away!”
Lin Nuan heaved a sigh of relief and forced a smile. “I’m sorry, Tuan Tuan! Mama’s thoughts had wandered away!”
Tuan Tuan shook his head. Sensing Lin Nuan’s emotional change, Tuan Tuan squeezed his small figure into Lin Nuan’s embrace, giving her a big hug. “Love Mama!”
Lin Nuan’s heart, which had turned slightly cold from worry, was filled with a bit of warmth. Thinking that this news report was a little too bloody for a child, Lin Nuan switched off the television with the remote. She picked Tuan Tuan up and said, “Let’s go and eat first and not wait for Papa! Later on, we’ll criticize Papa and ask him why he didn’t come back by mealtime! Isn’t that right, Tuan Tuan?”
Lin Nuan had no idea if she was consoling herself or Tuan Tuan.
Tuan Tuan nodded. “En!”
Lin Nuan let out a long exhale, not letting her imagination run wild. She secretly decided that she would ignore Fu Huai’an for a few days after he came back later!
It was probably in consideration of Lin Nuan, Fu Huai’an, and Tuan Tuan’s preferences that the dishes were all from their home country.
The chef was very meticulous. In order to pique Tuan Tuan’s interest, the fruit platter was made in the shape of a Minion character, looking very nice.
Fu Huai’an hadn’t returned, so Lin Nuan didn’t have much of an appetite. She merely drank a few sips of soup and kept on giving food to Tuan Tuan.
The dining room’s doors were suddenly pushed open.
Lin Nuan lifted her head, and her hand that was holding onto chopsticks tightened its grip.
The person standing outside the dining hall while holding a phone was Little Lu. He didn’t enter, and his countenance appeared a little grim as he looked at Lin Nuan.
Lin Nuan’s heart sank, and she could only hear its intense pounding.
She put down her chopsticks, hands trembling a little.
She forced herself not to let her imagination run wild. Little Lu hadn’t said anything yet, so why was she panicking?
Afraid that Tuan Tuan might be frightened, Lin Nuan intentionally lowered her voice and smiled at Tuan Tuan. “Tuan Tuan, you continue with your meal. Mama will go have a talk with Uncle Little Lu, alright?”
Tuan Tuan, who was holding a spoon with one hand and his small bowl with another, nodded.
Lin Nuan pretended to be calm as she walked out of the dining room, closing the doors behind her. She then immediately asked, “Have you gotten in touch with Huai’an?”
Little Lu held onto the phone tightly and said, “There was an accident on the road that Sir was coming back on. They said that steel pipes fell down from a building, causing a multiple-vehicle collision. I contacted the assistant of Sir’s friend, and they’ve sent out people to search for him. Although they didn’t manage to find Sir, but… the car that Sir drove out in was involved in the accident. The car was empty, and we don’t know the details yet. We only know that all injured people have been sent to the hospital!”
Lin Nuan felt as if there was a sharp whizzing sound ringing off in her brain, and her mind was completely blank…
She could even see the image of a steel pipe piercing through Fu Huai’an’s body. Lin Nuan’s legs gave way.
“Madam!” Little Lu supported Lin Nuan.
“Where is he! Did they see Huai’an in the hospital!” Lin Nuan asked anxiously.
Little Lu shook his head. “No. The person who went to look for Sir doesn’t know him.”
It was good that he wasn’t seen there! Lin Nuan was afraid that the news she got would be bad.
Lin Nuan forced herself to calm down. She gripped Little Lu’s arm and asked, “Which hospital were the people sent to?”
Sensing that Lin Nuan’s hands were trembling, Little Lu quickly said, “The chauffeur is already waiting outside. Madam… should we bring Young Master along?”
Lin Nuan thought of Tuan Tuan, who was having a meal in the dining room, then shook her head. “Don’t scare Tuan Tuan. You accompany him for his meal. Just say… that Mama went to look for Papa to prepare a surprise gift for him! Don’t show anything before the child!”
Little Lu nodded. “Madam, don’t worry!”
Lin Nuan gritted her teeth, took her phone, and kept on reminding herself to remain calm. Remain calm!
The chauffeur was still the same one who had fetched them from the airport today. Lin Nuan nodded and greeted him, then got into the car. Her mind was a complete mess throughout the journey.
She felt at a loss. That, as well as her current anxiety, made her feel as if she had returned to a few years ago when she found out that Wen Moshen’s flight had crashed. She felt even more horrified and uneasy now compared to back then.
The unprecedented terror was like a big black hand that silently clenched Lin Nuan’s heart.
Right now, Lin Nuan had a strong urge to have wings and fly to the hospital. However, she was also afraid that after arriving at the hospital, she would see the scene of a steel pipe pierced through Fu Huai’an’s body.
Lin Nuan hadn’t seen anything, but the messy images in her mind were driving her crazy. Her hands, which were resting on her lap, kept trembling non-stop.
