Chapter 438: Fill You Up With Warmth!

Fu Huai’an suddenly had a doubt. Taking Ji Yun back with them and letting Lin Nuan face her every day—was that the correct decision?
Could his kindness turn out to be another form of torture for Lin Nuan?
Such a Ji Yun was a constant reminder to Lin Nuan that her birth mother could never love her as much in this lifetime, for all her motherly love was occupied by the Lin Ran, who had swapped her identity with her.
Lin Nuan just sat there quietly with Ji Yun, until the sun began to set and the wind swept the withered Boston Ivy to the ground.
Fu Huai’an would probably never be able to forget the scene before his eyes that day. He could never forget the way Lin Nuan lightly smiled with her head lowered as she attentively wiped the corners of Ji Yun’s mouth.
As he walked out hand-in-hand with Lin Nuan from the mental facility, Fu Huai’an pulled her into his embrace before they got into the car.
Lin Nuan’s hand froze on the door handle of the car as the familiar masculine scent entered her senses. She asked, “What’s the matter?”
Fu Huai’an tightened the embrace, and his deep voice carried his smile. “Filling you up with warmth!”
Knowing what Fu Huai’an meant, tears started welling up in Lin Nuan’s eyes. With great effort, she managed a smile and closed her eyes from the blinding sunlight. As she buried her head into Fu Huai’an’s embrace, she let go of the door handle and circled Fu Huai’an’s muscular back with her arms, moving slowly up to his shoulders, greedy for his embrace…
Fu Huai’an was indeed the source of warmth for Lin Nuan.
Ever since she found out that she wasn’t related to the Lins by blood and saw her birth mother’s full adoration for “Ran Ran,” Lin Nuan lost a sense of who she was. She no longer knew where her home was, as if she had become the abandoned one.
She was neither the Lins’ daughter or her biological mother’s Ran Ran…
She thought she would never have a home again.
Later, it was Fu Huai’an who gave her a grounded sense of being.
Even if their beginning wasn’t so wonderful and wasn’t started because of love…
Their beginning, Lin Nuan felt forced and aggrieved. She had never imagined that one day, this source of resentment would become the sun that filled her up with warmth.
With her eyes still closed, she felt Fu Huai’an’s large hand pinching her chin. When she opened her eyes again, the sun no longer felt so glaring. Lin Nuan saw a dark shadow coming down on her, and before she knew it, Fu Huai’an’s hot lips had already met with her mildly cool ones. She felt her vision blur.
Fu Huai’an narrowed his eyes, observing Lin Nuan’s expression. Her eyelashes violently trembled. As for her lowered eyelids, they were ridiculously fair, and the veins appeared particularly visible under the sunlight, revealing a pinkish shade.
As the sound of pedestrians laughing and chatting drew nearer, and upon hearing the sound of cars screeching to a halt, Lin Nuan subconsciously wanted to push Fu Huai’an away. But with her slim waist held in a tight grip by Fu Huai’an, she couldn’t budge at all…
Fu Huai’an’s scorching tongue pried open Lin Nuan’s mouth. The kiss that followed was particularly swift and violent. Soon, their heavy and messed-up breathing intertwined, giving Lin Nuan goosebumps all over.
This was in broad daylight, and what’s more, at the entrance of a mental hospital. Would they be treated as people with a mental health condition and conveniently admitted into the hospital?
Lin Nuan’s mind was all jumbled up, but her hand remained on the back of Fu Huai’an’s shoulder, with no intention to push him away from her.
Her breathing gradually became shallow, as if she were robbed of all the oxygen in her lungs by Fu Huai’an. Her tongue was curled up by Fu Huai’an, sucking till it went numb…
The blazing temperature from his mouth made Lin Nuan feel as though she was on fire, as if she were about to be melted.
Just as Lin Nuan was about to run out of breath, Fu Huai’an let go of the lips that had been kissed crimson by him. He rested one hand on the car door and fixed his deep gaze on the heavily panting Lin Nuan.
Her petite hands slid from Fu Huai’an’s shoulders and grabbed onto the sides of his narrow suit, face completely flushed.
Fu Huai’an calmed down his emotions and, panting slightly, said, “Get in the car…”
Lin Nuan had always felt that Fu Huai’an was smooth and experienced when it came to such matters… even if she tried to pretend, there was no way she could calm down her breathing and heart rate.
Nodding, Lin Nuan let go of Fu Huai’an’s suit and bent over to climb into the passenger’s seat.
Fu Huai’an rested one hand on the roof of the car as he bent over, smiling lightly at Lin Nuan, who was putting on her seatbelt. “Mrs. Fu didn’t push me away in broad daylight today…”
Lin Nuan’s ears heated up. She raised her head to look at Fu Huai’an and, trying to hold back the blushing and rapid heartbeat, said, “Perhaps my skin has grown thicker like yours from being with you all this time.”
Fu Huai’an didn’t get mad but instead nodded his head approvingly. “I look forward to the day Mrs. Fu’s skin grows to be as thick as mine.”
Lin Nuan was speechless.
The door to the passenger’s seat closed, and Lin Nuan’s eyes followed Fu Huai’an, who was walking around the front of the car to get to the other side.
The golden and mildly blinding sunlight turned in their direction, making the mark on his collar, which was unbuttoned at the top, a warm shade of orange.
Fu Huai’an’s dark gaze narrowed. Above his stiff white collar, the silhouette of his chin appeared manly, full of masculine strength and charisma. Lin Nuan was unable to tear her gaze away from the man.
As the driver’s seat door opened, the sunlight entered alongside Fu Huai’an… then was blocked out by the car door once more.
Fu Huai’an buckled his seatbelt and asked Lin Nuan, “I’m all yours today. Where do you want to go?”
“Let me think about it…”
Lin Nuan’s life outside of work was usually mundane, with time mostly spent at home.
“Song Yao’s not in. If she’s home, we can get Xiaonian to come out too. Since we’re married… you should get to know them over a meal.” Lin Nuan spoke in a low voice, almost like she was murmuring to herself. “I didn’t ask Xiaonian in advance. She needs to take care of her father now. It won’t be convenient for her since I didn’t ask in advance.”
Fu Huai’an nodded. “Then let’s make an appointment with your friend once she comes back!”
Fu Huai’an noticed a conflicted look on Lin Nuan’s face after she nodded. With one hand on the steering wheel, he asked, “What hobbies do you have in your free time?”
“Reading at home, tidying up the house, watching television…” Lin Nuan suddenly had an idea. “Let’s go to a movie! Like normal couples do, a movie date…”
Lin Nuan and Fu Huai’an only dated briefly, and because of the nature of their work, dating usually meant having a meal together… followed by making love!
Indeed, they had never dated like a normal couple.
It was almost 3 pm. Lin Nuan had only watched as Ji Yun ate, so she and Fu Huai’an hadn’t had anything to eat…
After taking a look at her wristwatch, Lin Nuan declared, “Let’s eat first. We’ll watch a movie after we eat.”
Fu Huai’an nodded. He wanted to say the same thing.
“Sure! Let’s do as you say…” Fu Huai’an started up the engine, put on the blinker, and turned the wheel. The car that was originally parked in front of the mental hospital quickly joined the line of cars on the road.
…
Fu Huai’an drove towards a restaurant.
Fu Huai’an had always been aware of Lin Nuan’s aversion to cold, so he had deliberately turned up the heater. Lin Nuan felt a little warm, so she took off her jacket and deposited it in the backseat of the car. She then lowered her head and started to look through movies and cinemas on the WeChat official account.
