Chapter 672 You’re Finally Back Home!
After calling the guardhouse, the servant frantically ran over and said to Housekeeper Ye in a hushed voice, “Uncle Ye, it’s Old Master Fu and Young Master who have returned!”
Housekeeper Ye paused in surprise.
Old Master Fu referred to Fu Qingquan, but Housekeeper Ye was a little taken aback to hear the servant suddenly mention Young Master. Did Old Master Fu return with Fu Huai’an? This didn’t seem likely!
It was only after a moment that Housekeeper Ye managed to react. It was probably Old Master Fu and Fu Cheng who had come back together.
Housekeeper Ye was elated. He hadn’t expected Fu Cheng to be able to invite Old Master Fu back!
The last time Old Master Fu called, he angered Old Madam Fu pretty badly, such that she nearly landed in the hospital…
Today was Fu Wan’s birthday, so Old Master Fu clearly came back with sincerity. Old Madam Fu would surely be happy! No matter how mad she was at him, she wouldn’t be so calculative with Old Master Fu on account of the young miss.
Housekeeper Ye hurriedly turned around and instructed the servant, “Go and inform Old Madam. Also, get the kitchen to prepare a few of Old Master’s favorite dishes!”
“Okay!” The servant turned around and acted on the orders immediately.
“Wait!” Housekeeper Ye added, “And tell the guardhouse to inform me if Young Master Huai’an returns!”
“Yes, Sir!”
As the servant turned around to act upon those orders, Housekeeper Ye fixed his coat and stood at the fountains, waiting to receive Fu Qingquan when he arrived…
Secretary Song drove around the fountain, like he once used to do very often, and parked the car before the manor.
Housekeeper Ye walked towards the car. Seeing Fu Cheng step out of the front passenger seat, he smiled and nodded. “Young Master!”
“Uncle Ye!” Fu Cheng said hello to Housekeeper Ye.
Housekeeper Ye pulled open the door to the back seats, and the two little ones jumped out of the car one after the other, then asked Fu Qingquan, who was still in the car, to hurry up.
Fu Cheng’s two kids went and greeted him as “Grandpa”. The little girl, Fu Xinxin, even grabbed Housekeeper Ye’s hand and asked with her eyes wide open, “Housekeeper Ye, did you prepare coconut candy for Xinxin this time around? Xinxin went to the company to drag Grandpa here, and it was tiring dragging him here!”
“Yes, yes, yes! There’s candy for Xinxin! And also for Mingming!” Housekeeper Ye beamed at the two little kids.
Housekeeper Ye liked anyone who could get Old Master Fu to return home…
As Fu Qingquan got out of the car, Housekeeper Ye’s eyes suddenly reddened, and he said with a choked voice, “Old Master, you’re finally back home!”
Housekeeper Ye’s words made Fu Qingquan pause in his tracks.
Back home?
The Fu family mansion was originally Fu Qingquan’s home, but Fu Qingquan hadn’t been back for so many years that even he himself was about to forget that this was his home.
Housekeeper Ye welcomed Fu Qingquan home, just like he did many years ago. He stood before Fu Qingquan and smiled at him, except… now, Housekeeper Ye’s hair had turned gray, and he had obviously aged.
Fu Qingquan felt a little upset at this sight. He raised a hand and grabbed Housekeeper Ye’s shoulder. “Old Ye…”
“Aye!” Housekeeper Ye acknowledged him, maintaining that pleasant smile. “Although we didn’t know you would be back today, Old Madam asked the kitchen to prepare your and Eldest Young Miss’ favorite dishes! If Old Madam learns that you’re back, she’ll definitely be elated!”
Housekeeper Ye spoke eloquently. Even though Old Madam Fu might not speak nicely with Fu Qingquan later on, she would certainly feel happy inside!
Housekeeper Ye, who wholeheartedly wanted to help Fu Qingquan and Old Madam Fu reconcile, had put much thought and effort into this.
Secretary Song stood in the near distance as he watched Housekeeper Ye. Only after everyone entered the house did he walk up to Housekeeper Ye and say hello to him.
All these years, because Secretary Song didn’t help persuade Fu Qingquan to come back home, Housekeeper Ye had grown to dislike him. However, Housekeeper Ye was in a sunny mood today, so when Secretary Song came up to say hello, Housekeeper Ye at least acknowledged him.
With Housekeeper Ye around, Fu Qingquan naturally didn’t need Secretary Song to take care of him. Secretary Song stood by the side and watched as Housekeeper Ye helped Fu Qingquan take off his coat and suit, appearing extremely familiar with the routine.
“You know what Old Madam is like. She may sound tough, but her heart is soft. Although she asked the servants to store the photos away in the attic, she sneaks up there to take a look at the photos you two took together from time to time. Nearly every servant in the house has seen her do this before, it’s just that all of us feign ignorance…”
Housekeeper Ye sighed after hanging Fu Qingquan’s clothes properly. He then took out a pair of slippers and placed them by Fu Qingquan’s feet. “Look, your slippers are still around. Old Madam Fu actually secretly hoped that you would return. After all, you two have been a married couple for a lifetime!”
Perhaps because today was Fu Wan’s birthday, Fu Qingquan’s heart felt softer than usual. Usually, he wouldn’t be able to heed these words.
After Fu Qingquan finished putting on the slippers, Housekeeper Ye quickly placed his leather shoes into the cabinet and continued, “And the last time, when you called to ask Old Madam Fu about Young Master’s matters, Old Madam wasn’t actually aware either. Previously, in order to persuade Young Master to return to Kaide to stabilize the company, she traveled to Venice to look for him. In the end, before she got to see Young Master, her body couldn’t take it, and she was hospitalized. She almost didn’t manage to make it back.”
Fu Qingquan had somewhat heard Chu Xun mention this before.
Fu Qingquan only answered after a while, “I got it!”
The people seated in the living room came to know that Fu Qingquan had returned. Fu Qingquan’s biological younger brother, Fu Qingshui, subconsciously looked towards Old Madam Fu, who was seated before the fireplace with a shawl around her, and saw that her expression had darkened.
“Sis-in-law…” The likewise white-haired Fu Qingshui wanted to be the mediator and said this, “Even if Big Brother was guilty of a million misdeeds, today is Wan Wan’s birthday. Don’t make things too unpleasant for Big Brother!”
“Yes, Sis-in-law! After all, we’re one family. For Big Brother to return, it shows that Wan Wan has a place in his heart. So many people are around today… so don’t let your anger get to you!” Fu Qingshui’s old wife tried to persuade Old Madam Fu as well.
“If Wan Wan had a place in his heart, he wouldn’t be trying his best to help that bastard inherit the Kaide Corporation!” When Old Madam Fu thought about this, anger surged inside of her.
Fu Qingquan’s younger and older cousin, as well as their families, helped talk Old Madam Fu into staying calm.
“Cousin-in-law! You’re too stubborn! Look at that one outside, she merely softened her stand and acted coquettishly around Big Brother… and she managed to twirl Big Brother around her fingers just like that!”
“At the very least, don’t make things too difficult and make it impossible for him to return home. You need to understand that by doing this, you’re giving that woman outside an opportunity!” Fu Qingquan’s older cousin, Fu Qinghe, spoke up too.
Fu Qingquan’s biological younger brother, Fu Qingshui, was a little surprised to hear Fu Qinghe say something like this.
Fu Qingquan’s older cousin, Fu Qinghe, was from the military. He was a stubborn man and had a bad temper. Because of Fu Qingquan’s extramarital affair in his twilight years, Fu Qinghe despised Fu Qingquan, and he had even scolded Fu Qingquan face-to-face. He was positively on Old Madam Fu’s side. He was one righteous old man!
Now, even Fu Qinghe had spoken up to persuade Old Madam Fu, so she couldn’t help considering their words seriously.
In the house, the younger generation was also around. Everyone was speaking up to persuade Old Madam Fu, and she wasn’t one who wouldn’t heed others’ advice. With a cold face, she stopped speaking nastily of Fu Qingquan after all.
