more, but it seemed redundant now. She got Gilbert into her office and said, “Everyone in this company
has acknowledged your skills. Hence, I shall try and let you be in charge of this project.”

Gilbert was expressionless and didn’t react much. It was as if everything was within his expectations.

“However, if you want to take over the Bradshaws, your wife cannot be a nobody. She has to match
your status, at least.” Esther looked at him. As expected, his face turned sour at the mention of it. She
wasn’t surprised and went on, “You needn’t answer me at once. You can think about it on your own. But
I hope that you will make the right decision.”

In the end, if Gilbert didn’t shake Marigold off, Esther would not entrust the Bradshaws to him. If he
