"What…do you want from us?"
Jason tried to keep a poker face when he heard this question, and it worked to some extent.
Yet, when Jennifer saw how hard he was trying, she couldn't help but lightly push him as she mumbled,
"What are you doing?"
Apparently, Jennifer found the situation funnier than it was the case for Jason, which caused him to look at her in confusion.
"What? Can't I find it funny that the so-called prodigies of the Shadow walkers are being entitled in front of us? Their talent is trash in comparison to yours, after all!"
It was not like Jennifer was lying, but Jason noticed only now that her sense of humor was…unique, to put it plainly.
As such, he shook his head before averting his attention back to the awake Shadow walker.
"Just tell me where can I find the Lord of Death, and I might consider allowing you to leave safely."
Jason asked the question as if he was discussing whether with one of the most talented Ultimate soldiers the Shadow walkers were nurturing.
This caused the prodigious Shadow walker to stop trying to free himself for a moment.
It was as if his mind turned blank, only for him to ask.
"You…come from Argos too, right?"
There was no need for Jason to answer this question, but he simply nodded his head, not denying the obvious fact. His fusion with Artemis was enough to show that he had a soulbond with which he could combine his strength, after all.
After he nodded his head, Jason hoped to receive an answer to his earlier question.
But the Shadow walker prodigy was still quiet, thinking a lot about what he should do.
His life was on the line, but even if he were to tell everything he knew about the Lord of Death, it didn't mean that he would necessarily stay alive.
"Will you set me free if I tell you his location?" the Shadow walker asked reluctantly.
Jason felt that it was obvious that the Shadow walker was afraid of dying.
But it was already astonishing enough that he didn't betray his race to buy his freedom or his life in exchange.
That meant the Shadow walker prodigy would most likely return to his people the moment this was possible.
Despite that, Jason nodded his head as he answered.
"If you want to stay alive, I will set you free.
But after that, you should stay here for an entire week. There is no need for me to kill you but the moment I find you annoying, you'll die, alright?
By the way, if I get to know that you returned to your race before a week passed, I'll torture you in the worst possible way!"
Jason hoped that this was enough to prevent the Shadow walker from doing anything, but he knew that this was not the case.
The moment he and Jennifer would leave, they would probably leave straight to alert the others.
In no time they would report everything he had said, and where he and Jennifer were heading.
Despite that, Jason didn't want to kill the Shadow walker prodigies.
It might only be his opinion, but he had no problem killing anyone on the battlefield.
However, he was against killing someone who was tied-up, and unarmed.
"Why don't you just use mana sealing handcuffs? With our energy supplying the runes, they should stay active for two weeks…I guess. So one week for each of them!
Well, that is if you really don't want to kill them. The handcuffs are quite expensive after all."
Jason raised his right eyebrow upon hearing Jennifer's idea which she simply stated without giving it another thought.
Yet, instead of commenting on the fact that Jennifer gave living beings a price tag, he just nodded his head.
"If you are fine with giving me the handcuffs, I would be grateful to you!"
Jennifer was already moving, but when she heard how polite Jason sounded she stopped in her tracks.
"I will make you pay back ten times the price of the handcuffs, so be prepared to slave away for me! And I don't like that you're being formal with me…"
Frowning at her line, Jason was not sure if Jennifer was teasing him or if she was dead serious.
As such, he couldn't help but nod his head before ruffling her hair.
However, only a moment later he turned around, looking at the Shadow walker with a serious expression.
"I guess you listened. To put it simply, you won't be killed as long as you tell me all the information I need to know!
In the end, Jason knew that he could have used the foretelling ability to figure out Lux's location. But there were too many downsides that came forth with the use of the blessing.
First, it looked like he could only use the foretelling blessing once in a few months, which was perfectly fine.
Other than that, even if he were to use the blessing right now, it would only show him images.
He would be clueless about where he had to go, how far was it from his current location or the name of the place.
This was quite disadvantageous, which was why Jason chose the easier way to figure out the information he wanted to get to know!
That way was to use the Shadow walker prodigies who had already exposed the fact that they knew more about the humans on Argos.
Their race had been taking humans with them for quite some time already.
As such, there shouldn't be a problem getting to know the information he wanted.
At the same time, Jason was extremely good at figuring out if someone was lying.
His Emperor Eyes allowed him to perceive everything down to the finest detail after all.
Other than that, he was able to perceive energy fluctuations that were the most distinct indicator if someone was lying or not.
With that in mind, Jason asked,
"Now tell me. Where are the humans on Argos situated, and where can I find the 'Lord of Death'?"
The other Shadow walker prodigy had yet to wake up, but Jason didn't think that he needed any information from him.
After all, the Shadow Walker, who was awake, seemed to be willing to provide every single piece of information he required.
Hearing the Shadow walker share everything he could think of to save his life made Jason nod his head.
He was quite intrigued about what he had heard him blabber.
If his words were true, there seemed to be many more humans that had been taken away by the Shadow walker race than he initially expected.
To be precise, the Shadow walker prodigy told him about the combined work of dozens of races that were connected to Argos.
These races had worked together in order to kidnap as many talented humans as possible.
Under normal circumstances, this would enrage Jason, but he was eerily calm and was patiently listening to everything.
When the Shadow walker was almost nearing the end of his explanation, Jason noticed that the other prodigy was stirring.
Yet, instead of averting his attention to the other prodigy, he kept asking all kinds of things to the one who was already awake.
As such, the prodigy who had just woken up could only hear his friend willingly exposing all kinds of secrets, shocking him to the core.
Because of that, Jason assumed that a huge fight would break out at any moment, which would be quite interesting to see because the two Shadow walker prodigies were tied up.
However, oddly enough, the Shadow walker prodigy who had just awoken remained quiet as if he was okay with whatever his friend was doing.
Yet, it was just a moment later that Jason's foresight blessing noticed something.
It caused him to react instinctively as he turned around, before fusing with Petri.
Only a fraction of a second later, he grasped Jennifer as he released his entire mana and divine energy.
He used these two simultaneously to give his speed a major boost to an extent he had never reached before.
With Jennifer in his arms, Jason was quickly transported several hundred meters away from the Shadow walker who had only sensed the wind pressure.
He had barely blinked before he noticed that his kidnappers were not in front of him anymore.
A moment later, he sensed faint mana fluctuation from his friend, indicating that he had finally awoken.
Unfortunately, his joy didn't stay long as his friend shouted.
"TRAITOR, DIE!"
The moment he shouted this word, he released his entire energy at once, utilized in the red Miasma that was suddenly released from his body.
Just a fraction of a second later, his body exploded like a volcano.
It filled the red Miasma with the necessary energy to reach the surroundings in a range of several hundred meters only a second later.
The Shadow walker prodigy who had exposed all secrets about the humans on Argos felt incapable of moving.
He was paralyzed and his energy was drained, while he was clueless as to what had happened just now.
He could only stare at the spot his friend had been only a moment ago where a red crystal lay instead. Looking at the ground with disbelieving eyes, he blurted out,
"Shit…", before he died. His body began to wither as the energy that had once invigorated him was rapidly draining off his body.
