It was as if he and Jennifer had never been separated because they greeted each other like old friends.
There was no awkwardness, or discomfort which was a great advantage because both of them had lots of things to say.
More than three years had passed since their last meeting, after all!
In fact, being able to speak to each other as if they had never separated showed how comfortable the two of them were with each other.
As such, Jennifer began to tell Jason what had happened after her Legacy trial had concluded.
She had received an Inheritance that was in the form of a cultivation manual for all three cultivation energies followed by her three energies being naturally merged together.
This meant that her body's constitution was altered and modified.
It had been tweaked to make it similar to the Three paths puppet Jason had encountered and fought before.
To be precise, Jason felt that the merging process of her energies allowed Jennifer to exert much more strength than before. Meanwhile, the cultivation technique she received was at the Initial Luna rank too!
This was exceptional considering that her technique did not belong to the Primordial race, but the Preactor race's traitor.
They were a Grand race which indicated that the Luna ranked cultivation technique was the strongest technique they possessed.
With that in mind, it was quite obvious why the Preactors wanted to retrieve the Inheritance!
Jason was glad that Jennifer had received the cultivation technique and the other part of the Inheritance, but what followed after she left Kinra Island was rather disastrous.
In the end, everything was more or less the same as what he had got to know from rumors.
By the time Jennifer returned, her master had already received an Immortal eye. One of the other cadets who had been sent out to procure one had successfully done so.
This meant that this one cadet was extremely powerful, to the extent that he had passed all trails without too much of a hassle.
It was exceptional, but it would have been better if the cadet had never kept his promise of procuring an Immortal Eye.
When Jennifer returned from Kinra Island, Luna brought all of them back.
She had completely ignored Jason as her objectives were fulfilled.
Thus, she had taken the rest of them back home without bothering to wait for Jason, even if it would have been only a few days of wait.
Instead, after she had obtained the Immortal Eye, she shut herself in the Auxiliary tower and started to work on something.
During the few moments that passed while she was confined to the Auxiliary tower, the races of the adjacent areas had attacked the Julandra region, trying to claim it for themselves.
This was not that difficult because the Aeus and Devir race had not joined forces at that time.
Only when they created an alliance were they able to prevent the races from continuing with their advance.
They had started to hold grand meetings in which they gathered all important individuals that had enough power in their race to change something.
And it looked like they had charged straight at Luna's mansion.
Meanwhile, Luna returned from the tower, with a crazed expression, which had already caused a premonition in Jennifer's mind.
In the end, Jason knew the rest of the details- Luna had planned a terror act, killing hundreds of the strongest powerhouses of the Devir and Aeus race.
She had made use of a bomb that had been created by using the Immortal Eye as the main ingredient.
This type of bomb didn't radiate any energy fluctuations that would alert people.
Only when it exploded would the victims realize that something was wrong, but it would be too late to do anything.
As such, it was more like a silent killer that stored enough compressed energy, equivalent to the force of several hundred Peak stage powerhouses!
Thus, none of the individuals that had gathered were able to protect themselves.
Their chances of survival further deteriorated owing to the unique type of energy Luna had used in order to pierce through her opponents' energy membranes.
Not much time had passed until Luna was found as the culprit, but even then nobody had ever seen her again.
Yet, the same couldn't be said about her disciple, Jennifer.
Almost everybody knew that Jennifer was next in command after Luna.
This turned her into the second most important target followed by the other subordinates of the City Lord.
As such, she was hunted for the last one and a half years, preventing her from advancing in her cultivation as she would have loved to.
Other than that many things had happened in the Julandra region in his absence but that was not important to Jason.
He only kept listening to Jennifer intently, who couldn't stop herself from sharing every little detail.
Unsure of how much time passed, Jason could only assume that Jennifer was on her own since she was being hunted. It was possible that she was too scared to enter even the smallest cities.
If that were to be the case, it would mean that she had no contact with anyone while being on a constant run, scared that someone might find and kill her.
Because of that, she was lonely and in a dire need of someone, she could talk to.
Hence, upon finding Jason, who was one of the few beings she still trusted, she was beyond relieved.
In fact, had Jennifer not known that some of Luna's subordinates were clueless about her schemings, she would have even doubted them.
However, the hardest she had been hit with was certainly by her master, who had simply left her all alone, without saying anything.
It was almost as if she was just some toy Luna had played with to waste some time and discarded her when she was of no use.
Jennifer couldn't believe that this was possible. But even if it wasn't, she had no idea what exactly had truly happened, or if she had done something to betray her master's trust.
Because of that, she was unable to hold back her emotions as her eyes turned moist the more she spoke about the last few years.
Unsure what he was supposed to do, Jason followed his instincts as he embraced her, trying to reassure her that everything was fine.
Before, he had been worried that he and Jennifer wouldn't be able to speak comfortably with each other after the huge gap.
Many many things could happen in a span of more than three years.
However, right now, he felt foolish for this though because in most cases, he had only been wondering if they would be able to return to their younger self and behave like that.
While mentally scolding himself for feeling like that, Jason didn't even notice that Jennifer returned the hug as she began to cry.
Her legs gave in owing to the exhaustion of the last years of fighting all alone.
Now, she knew that she didn't have to hold back her emotions anymore, which made her cry until her tears stopped flowing.
Even though her tears had dried, she continued to sob while clinging to his shirt which was now soaked wet. Jason couldn't believe that the powerful woman he had encountered more than four years ago was crumbling right in front of him.
Jennifer was done with braving the dangers all alone and trying to hold herself together as the person she trusted the most had betrayed her, followed by a long time of anxiousness of getting caught and killed.
Jason might not know much about Jennifer's past, but he knew that Luna had raised her, which spoke volumes about their relationship.
Because of that, even Jason had difficulties believing that Luna would abandon Jennifer. From what he assumed, she must have been like a mother to Jennifer, hence the betrayal stung even more
Everything was a little complicated, and Jason couldn't help but feel odd. But, in an effort to distract Jennifer, he attempted to tell her his story, and what had happened to him.
However, that had to wait until Jennifer was done crying.
